Moving On from the Tsundere, I Choose the Perfect Sweetheart

Chapter 188: Chapter 188: A Fiercely Protective Bao Baijie? Gu Yifan Is Here

The guy probably hadn’t expected Su Qinghe to turn him down so bluntly.

But he wasn’t about to give up that easily.

”Uh... it’s fine.”

”Even if you’re not thirsty now, you can hold on to it. Drink it when you are!”

”We’re classmates, so we should help each other out. It’s just a bottle of water, it’s nothing!”

”Hehehe...”

As he spoke, the guy pushed the bottle of water a little closer to her.

”Ah—”

Seeing this, Su Qinghe instinctively took a few steps back.

Su Qinghe had never been in a situation like this before. She looked a little flustered.

She shook her head, frantically waving her hands to refuse again. ”N-No, thank you. I’m not thirsty, and besides, I can’t accept things from you.”

”???”

’What does she mean, ”and besides, I can’t accept things from you”?’

The guy was completely dumbfounded; he didn’t understand what Su Qinghe meant.

Just then, having noticed the commotion, Bao Baijie walked over.

”Hey!”

”Luo Chengjie, what do you think you’re doing?”

”Picking on my Qinghe?”

Acting like a protective mother hen, she pulled Su Qinghe behind her and scowled at Luo Chengjie.

Seeing the familiar face of Bao Baijie, Su Qinghe quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

Luo Chengjie was speechless.

Luo Chengjie was left speechless as he watched Bao Baijie scowl at him, her eyes wide as if she were fending off a pervert.

”Hey now, Baijie, what are you talking about? With which eye did you see me picking on Su Qinghe?”

He couldn’t help but roll his eyes at Bao Baijie. ”I just saw that Su Qinghe didn’t have any water and wanted to give her a bottle, okay?!” he said, exasperated.

”Pfft.”

Bao Baijie shot him a look of utter contempt. ”As if I don’t know what you’re plotting.”

”I know exactly what you were like in high school. I know all about the crap you pulled better than anyone!”

”So I’m telling you, drop those little ideas of yours!”

”Don’t you get any funny ideas about my Qinghe, or you’ll have to answer to me!”

That was right.

Bao Baijie knew Luo Chengjie. They had gone to the same high school.

Back in high school, Luo Chengjie had used his family’s money and his decent grades to hit on girls all over campus.

Over the course of three years, who knows how many innocent girls he’d tricked into sleeping with him.

In Bao Baijie’s own words, guys like Luo Chengjie were scumbags, the dregs of society. His very existence was a menace to the world; he was nothing more than a useless shit-making machine.

That was why!

When she saw Luo Chengjie approach Su Qinghe to hit on and pester her, she became so agitated.

Luo Chengjie was at a loss for words.

’Seeing Bao Baijie react so strongly to him, Luo Chengjie was utterly speechless.’

’Anyone who didn’t know better would think I’d done something to her, like I’d seduced and then abandoned her!’

’Damn it!’

’This tigress is just as meddlesome as she was in high school!’

’I can’t believe I ended up in the same class as this tigress in college!’

’What rotten luck!’

Luo Chengjie complained silently to himself.

”Baijie, you’ve misunderstood me!”

”I didn’t mean anything by it. I was just thinking that classmates should help each other out!”

”Hehe...”

He forced an ugly, awkward-yet-polite smile for Bao Baijie’s benefit.

”Hah.”

Bao Baijie just scoffed, her face a mask of contempt.

’Damn it!’

’If you could believe a word out of a scumbag like him, then pigs could fly!’

”Uh...”

’Why is she so resentful?’

Seeing Bao Baijie’s disdain, Luo Chengjie was a little baffled.

’He really couldn’t figure out how he’d offended this tigress for her to be on his case from high school all the way to now.’

’Damn it!’

’If she wasn’t a girl, I would’ve already gone over and taught her a lesson!’

’Huh?’

’Taught her a...’

Suddenly, Luo Chengjie’s eyes lit up. He narrowed his gaze and looked Bao Baijie up and down.

The next second, however...

...he couldn’t help but purse his lips in disappointment.

’Damn it!’

’There’s no way I could get turned on by a tigress with a string-bean figure like hers!’

”Hey!”

”Luo Chengjie, what are you still doing here?!”

”You’re not welcome here!”

Luo Chengjie’s gaze made her skin crawl. Bao Baijie couldn’t help but shiver, then she planted her hands on her hips and yelled at him.

”...”

The corner of Luo Chengjie’s mouth twitched. He shot a disgusted look at Bao Baijie, who was still standing protectively in front of Su Qinghe. Then, his eyes landed on Su Qinghe’s exquisitely beautiful face peeking out from behind her friend. He smiled. ”Well then, Su Qinghe, I won’t disturb you any longer. See you at military training this afternoon!”

Su Qinghe didn’t look at him or answer, simply keeping her head lowered as if lost in thought.

Luo Chengjie wasn’t annoyed by her silence. He just shook his head, still holding the bottle of water, and walked away.

Bao Baijie stared daggers at his retreating back, not looking away until he was far in the distance.

She turned to Su Qinghe. ”Okay, we’re good. He’s gone.”

”Mm-hmm.”

Su Qinghe nodded, then looked at her with a completely serious expression. ”Thank you, Baijie. You’re such a good person!”

Bao Baijie was speechless.

’The good person card???’

’Bao Baijie was at a complete loss for words.’

But when she saw the earnest look on Su Qinghe’s face, it was clear she wasn’t joking. For a moment, Bao Baijie had no idea what to say.

’She’s... really a Hanhan.’

She couldn’t help but roll her eyes, complaining silently.

”Wh-What’s wrong?”

Su Qinghe asked, confused when she saw her roll her eyes.

The corner of Bao Baijie’s mouth twitched. What could she possibly say to that?

”It’s nothing!”

She said flatly, her face expressionless. ”You have such a way with words.”

”Oh, okay.”

Although Su Qinghe was a little confused, she didn’t overthink it and just nodded.

After a moment’s thought, she added, ”Thank you. You have a way with words, too.”

Bao Baijie: ”...”

At this, Bao Baijie gave up completely.

Just then, Chen Jie and the others returned from the public restrooms by the athletic field.

”What’s wrong?”

Noticing the strange atmosphere between Su Qinghe and Bao Baijie, Chen Jie and the others couldn’t help but ask.

”It’s nothing!”

Bao Baijie, too drained to explain, just waved her hand.

She then turned back to Su Qinghe. ”Alright, it’s getting late. Let’s go eat at the cafeteria. If we’re late, all the good dishes will be gone!”

”Huh?”

Su Qinghe was taken aback.

She hesitated for a moment before saying quietly, ”Um... why don’t you guys go ahead?”

”Hm?”

Now it was Bao Baijie’s turn to be taken aback.

”You’re not coming?”

She asked, puzzled, ”Aren’t you eating lunch?”

”I... I...”

Hearing the question, Su Qinghe didn’t know how to explain.

Just then.

”Su Hanhan~”

...a steady, magnetic voice called out from not far behind them.
