Moving On from the Tsundere, I Choose the Perfect Sweetheart

Chapter 174: Chapter 174: First Day of School, Chen Guanjun’s Overture? Su Hanhan Only Has Eyes for Gu Yifan

For a moment, Su Qinghe was at a loss for words after hearing what Gu Yifan said.

Gu Yifan had always been a bit overbearing, even before they officially started dating. But now that they were boyfriend and girlfriend, he was even more possessive—and prone to jealousy!

’What a possessive and jealous guy!’

Su Qinghe thought to herself.

But she wasn’t angry. On the contrary, she felt a little flicker of happiness.

It just proved how much Gu Yifan truly cared about her.

”Well... should I put on a jacket then?”

Su Qinghe suggested in a low voice after a moment’s thought.

Gu Yifan: ”...”

He shot Su Qinghe a look and said flatly, ”It’s scorching hot. You’d die of heatstroke if you put on a jacket. Forget it, this is fine. You’re making me sound petty.”

Su Qinghe: ”...-_-||”

...

「Around ten o’clock in the morning.」

Gu Yifan and Su Qinghe arrived at Jinling University’s Ancient Building Campus in his Mercedes G-Wagon, which had a Mountain City license plate.

At the university entrance, crowds of new students were arriving, accompanied by their parents.

A number of second and third-year students were also at the gate, enthusiastically welcoming the freshmen despite the scorching sun.

Two eye-catching banners were stretched across the main gate, visible from a great distance.

One read: ”Welcome, Freshmen of the Class of 2013! Jinling University: Your Life’s New Beginning!”

The other read: ”A Warm Welcome to the Nation’s Top Scorer, Gu Yifan!”

This particular banner made the name Gu Yifan a topic of conversation once more.

The forgotten memory suddenly launched an assault on all the freshmen!

Gu Yifan’s decision to forgo Qingbei for Jinling University had caused a huge sensation at the time.

In fact, many freshmen had chosen Jinling University precisely because the nation’s top scorer had enrolled.

After all, if the top scorer chose Jinling, what reason did they have not to?

Of course!

There were also plenty of people who scoffed at the decision, thinking Gu Yifan was an idiot.

However, Gu Yifan was oblivious to all this, as he hadn’t paid it any mind.

’Besides, other people’s opinions couldn’t change his decision anyway!’

’If he had that kind of free time, he’d much rather spend it fondling Su Qinghe’s feet!’

...

「10:10 AM, sharp.」

When Gu Yifan and Su Qinghe reached the entrance to Jinling University, they had to stop. Unaffiliated vehicles weren’t allowed on campus without prior registration.

Just as Gu Yifan was about to talk to the security guard at the gate to see if he could drive in...

His phone rang.

”I head all the way north, leaving the season I shared with you. Around the steering wheel, my regrets keep turning...”

He pulled out his phone and saw it was a call from Chen Guanjun, the director of the Jinling University admissions office.

The two had gone for drinks once back in Mountain City, and their relationship was now good enough that they were on brotherly terms.

’Well, now!’

’Talk about a pillow arriving just when you’re getting sleepy!’

He answered with a faint smile, ”Hey, Director Chen. Any orders for me?”

”Oh, come on, Yifan! I wouldn’t dare give you any orders!”

”It’s the first day of registration for new students, and I heard from the admissions office that you’re already in Jinling. I was just calling to see if you’d made it to campus yet and if you needed me to come get you!”

”Honestly, Yifan, you should have called me as soon as you arrived in Jinling,”

Chen Guanjun said from the other end of the line, his tone mildly reproachful.

The university placed special importance on Gu Yifan because he had chosen them over Qingbei.

And Chen Guanjun, as the man who had personally snatched Gu Yifan from the clutches of Qingbei, had earned the approval of the university’s leadership.

He had been promoted directly from Director of the Admissions Office to Deputy Director of the School of Economics and Management.

It might seem like a demotion from a full director to a deputy director, but the authority he now wielded was on a completely different level.

The power of a Deputy Director of the School of Economics and Management was far beyond what a mere Director of Admissions could ever hope for.

Chen Guanjun, who had thought he’d just be coasting in his position for the rest of his career, never expected his trip to Mountain City to bring such a wonderful surprise.

As a result, his gratitude toward Gu Yifan had deepened significantly.

And so, the moment he heard from the admissions office that Gu Yifan was in Jinling, he had immediately called him to keep their connection warm.

Besides!

Based on their time together in Mountain City, he had a strong feeling that Gu Yifan was no ordinary person. He was destined for great things.

With someone like that, if you didn’t foster goodwill with them before they made it big, it would be too late to try and suck up to them later!

After all, people value charcoal delivered in a snowstorm far more than flowers added to a brocade.

”Oh, I just got to the Ancient Building Campus entrance myself.”

”I just didn’t want to trouble you, Director Chen!”

”Hahaha...”

Gu Yifan said with a chuckle.

”What?!”

”You’ve already arrived?”

Chen Guanjun shot up from his seat on the other end of the line.

”Yeah!”

”I just got here a few minutes ago. I drove, but the security guard won’t let me in. I was just about to figure out how to get a temporary pass,” Gu Yifan said casually.

”Nonsense!”

”Why would you need to apply for a pass!”

”Just give me your license plate number, and I’ll have the gate let you right through!”

Chen Guanjun said without hesitation.

After a thought, he changed his mind. ”Actually, forget that, it’s too much trouble. I’m on the Ancient Building Campus right now. Just wait there, I’m coming to get you!”

”Uh... Director Chen, you really don’t have to go to all that trouble.”

Gu Yifan said quickly, hearing that Chen Guanjun insisted on coming to get him.

”Nonsense!”

”It’s no trouble at all!”

”We haven’t seen each other in a while, and it’ll be lunchtime soon anyway. I’ll help you with the paperwork, and then we can grab a couple of drinks!”

Chen Guanjun said from the other end of the line.

”Alright, it’s settled. You wait for me for a few minutes, I’m coming to get you now!”

Without giving Gu Yifan a chance to refuse, he hung up.

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.— BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.—

”Well...”

Listening to the busy signal, Gu Yifan looked completely exasperated.

’Why does it feel like Director Chen is even more enthusiastic than before?’

It left him feeling a bit puzzled.

He shook his head. Since he couldn’t figure it out, Gu Yifan decided not to dwell on it.

’In any case, he didn’t care what Chen Guanjun’s motives were.’

’As a Reincarnator who also had a goddamn system, what was there to be afraid of?’

Slipping the phone back into his pocket, Gu Yifan turned to see Su Qinghe watching him curiously. ”Someone’s coming to get us,” he said casually. ”Let’s just wait in the car.”

”Who... is it?”

Su Qinghe asked, confused.

”Chen Guanjun.”

”Mm... he’s the director from the admissions office we met before.”

Gu Yifan explained, giving her cheek a little pinch.

”Oh, right.”

Su Qinghe thought for a moment. Now that Gu Yifan mentioned it, she vaguely remembered the man, but she couldn’t recall his face at all, so she didn’t say anything more.

’It made sense.’

’In her world, there was only Gu Yifan. Everyone else was simply background noise.’

...

「Ten minutes later.」

The hurried figure of Chen Guanjun appeared at the entrance of Jinling University...
