Moving On from the Tsundere, I Choose the Perfect Sweetheart

Chapter 154: Chapter 154: Busted by Mom, Gu Yifan’s Massive Social Death Scene

Gu Yifan paused for a moment.

He slowly raised his head and found Han Ning standing before him in a white chiffon dress, holding a thermos.

”Here, have some honey water. It’ll help with the alcohol.”

Han Ning murmured, lightly pursing her red lips.

She had just gone out of her way to ask the hotel staff to prepare it.

”Uh...”

Gu Yifan was taken aback for a moment before saying, ”That’s alright, thank you.”

The light in Han Ning’s eyes dimmed at his words.

Still, she pushed the thermos toward him again.

”You drank so much just now,” she said in a soft tone. ”Some honey water will make you feel less sick.”

”I’m fine, really. I didn’t drink that much. Thank you for your kindness, though.”

Gu Yifan refused again.

This time, Han Ning’s eyes reddened as a sense of grievance instantly welled up inside her.

”I... I had to plead with a waiter to get this for me. Won’t you just drink a little... please?” she asked, her voice trembling with grievance as she bit her lower lip.

From the side, He Kaijian noticed the delicate tension between Gu Yifan and Han Ning.

’They look like a young couple having a spat!’

”Ahem, ahem.”

He faked a couple of coughs, thought for a moment, and said, ”Ahem... Gu Yifan, Han Ning is just being kind. Just take it.”

Gu Yifan: ”...”

’All he wanted to do right now was roll his eyes!’

’Seriously?!’

’Old He, why are you getting mixed up in this?!’

RING RING—RING RING—

Just as Gu Yifan found himself in a bind, his phone rang.

Gu Yifan’s eyes lit up!

”Excuse me, I need to take this.”

Gu Yifan held up his phone, then stood and walked out of the room without a backward glance.

Watching Gu Yifan’s retreating back, Han Ning could no longer suppress the grievance in her heart. Tears swirled uncontrollably in her eyes.

She bit her red lip, fighting to keep the tears from falling.

”Teacher He, you can have this honey water.”

After saying this, Han Ning shoved the thermos into He Kaijian’s hands, then turned and left without looking back.

He Kaijian: ”...”

...

Outside the private room, Gu Yifan looked at the four words displayed on his phone screen—”Incoming Call: Su Hanhan”—and the corners of his mouth curled up slightly.

’My dear Su Hanhan, you’re a real lifesaver!’

He muttered before answering the call.

”Hello~”

Gu Yifan asked with a smile, ”Su Hanhan, what’s up? Miss me?”

”Huh?”

On the other end of the line, Su Qinghe’s face instantly flushed crimson when she heard Gu Yifan’s words.

There was a simple reason for this.

Her phone was on speaker, and Gu Yifan’s mom was sitting right next to her.

Gu Yifan, on the other end, only heard Su Qinghe’s ”Huh?” followed by silence, which left him confused.

”Su Hanhan?”

”I’m here.”

”Hm?”

Gu Yifan frowned. ”What’s wrong with you? So, do you miss me or not?”

”I... I...”

Su Qinghe’s face was as red as a ripe peach. With her head lowered, she stammered, unsure of what to say.

”Come on, either you miss me or you don’t. Why are you stammering like a girl? What’s up with that?”

Gu Yifan said, his tone impatient and gruff.

’????’

Su Qinghe was completely baffled. ’But... I *am* a girl, aren’t I?’

Meanwhile, Chen Dongmei, who was sitting right there, was fuming. She couldn’t listen to any more of this!

Her face darkened as she snapped, ”Gu Yifan! You brat, what kind of nonsense are you spouting now!”

”Uh...” ℯ

Gu Yifan was dumbfounded. ’Did I just hear my mom’s voice?’

”Mom?” he asked tentatively.

”It’s me!”

”Is bullying Qinghe all you do all day? Do you think that’s funny?!”

Chen Dongmei said coldly from the other end of the line.

Gu Yifan could only sweat in dismay.

’So... it really is my mom!’

’This is a textbook case of social suicide!’

Gu Yifan was mortified.

”Ahem.”

He coughed to cover his embarrassment and asked in an all-business tone, ”So... Mom, did you call for a reason?”

”Nothing important. I just wanted to know when you’ll be done and when you’re coming home.”

Chen Dongmei knew her son was trying to change the subject. She rolled her eyes and said gruffly, ”If you’re back early enough, pick up some rice from the supermarket downstairs. We’re all out.”

”Oh, okay.”

Gu Yifan nodded. After a moment’s thought, he said, ”Well... it’s ten now, so we should be wrapping up soon. But Wang Zibo drank too much, so I have to take him home first. I’ll go buy the rice after that.”

”Alright. If you can get it, get it. If not, just let me know, and I’ll go down myself. Otherwise, there won’t be any rice for porridge tomorrow morning.”

Chen Dongmei said with a nod.

”Got it!”

Gu Yifan nodded.

”Alright, I’m giving the phone back to Qinghe. You two talk,” Chen Dongmei said.

She then handed the phone back to Su Qinghe with a loving smile. ”Qinghe, you talk to that brat. I’m going to take a shower.”

With that, she got up and headed to the bedroom, leaving the two of them some privacy.

Watching Chen Dongmei’s retreating figure, Su Qinghe, her face flushed, was momentarily stunned and at a loss for words.

”Su Hanhan?”

Gu Yifan said.

”Mhm.”

Su Qinghe responded, her voice barely a whisper.

”So... to continue our unfinished conversation, did you miss me?”

Gu Yifan teased, a serious tone belying his nonsense.

”Huh?”

Su Qinghe hadn’t expected him to still be on about that. The blush on her face deepened.

”Just say yes or no!”

Seeing her hesitation, Gu Yifan said gruffly.

”I did...”

Sensing the impatience in his tone, Su Qinghe obediently murmured her answer.

Her voice was quiet, but Gu Yifan still heard it.

With a small smile, Gu Yifan decided not to tease her any further. They chatted for a few more moments before hanging up.

’What a silly goose,’

After hanging up, Gu Yifan couldn’t help but smile as he pictured Su Qinghe’s shy, blushing face.

”Whoa, holy shit!”

But when he turned around, he was scared out of his wits by the sight of Han Ning standing behind him in her white dress, her eyes red-rimmed.

”Er...”

He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw it was just Han Ning.

’Damn it!’

’A woman in a white dress with long hair... Late at night, you know? That’s enough to scare a person to death!’

Gu Yifan griped internally.

He gave a slight shake of his head, deciding to ignore Han Ning. Clutching his phone, he started back toward the private room to let the teachers know he was leaving.

But just as he turned, Han Ning spoke up.

”W-wait!”
