Moving On from the Tsundere, I Choose the Perfect Sweetheart

Chapter 186: Chapter 186: Gu Yifan: Then I’ll Leave?

Standing at the edge of the athletic field, Gu Yifan felt a headache coming on as he stared at the dense crowd on the basketball court, all dressed in identical uniforms.

’It really seems like fate is trying to keep me from this military training.’

He shook his head in resignation and scanned the crowd for a familiar face, trying to locate his class’s formation.

...

Meanwhile, with Financial Management Class One.

Once Peng Shaoqiang had returned to the formation, Ge Rundong scanned the group and spoke calmly, ”My name is Ge Rundong. You can call me Instructor Ge. For the next half-month of military training, I will be in charge of your training.”

”I’m not the most patient man, but as long as you all follow my instructions and complete the training, I won’t give you a hard time.”

”So... I hope we can all get through the next twenty days smoothly and harmoniously.”

RUMBLE—

The moment he spoke, an uproar swept through the crowd.

Staring at the dark-skinned, stern-faced instructor who clearly wasn’t someone to be trifled with, no one knew what to say.

”Hey, Homo Dong, have you seen Brother Fan?”

In the formation, Young Master B Wang Shouyi whispered to the chubby guy, He Dongdong, beside him.

”I don’t know either!”

”Hey, didn’t you get Brother Fan’s contact info?”

”Give him a call when we’re dismissed and ask him what’s up.”

He Dongdong whispered back.

”Uh... I don’t have it. He left in such a hurry that day, it totally slipped my mind.”

Wang Shouyi paused, then said with a sigh of resignation.

”You don’t think Brother Fan forgot about military training today, do you?” he added after a moment’s thought.

”N-No way, right?”

He Dongdong whispered, uncertain.

”QUIET!!!”

Seeing the students whispering in the ranks, Ge Rundong’s face darkened. ”Did you not hear what I just said?” he boomed.

”Anyone else speaks, and you’re running five laps around the field!!!”

The students: ”...”

Instantly, everyone fell silent, not daring to utter a word.

”Reporting!” 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ

Just then, a shout caught everyone’s attention.

”Brother Fan?”

Wang Shouyi and He Dongdong exchanged a surprised glance.

’Brother Fan is just showing up now?’

’He’s so screwed!’

’He walked right into the line of fire this time!’

The two of them had a terrible feeling.

As for Ge Rundong, he turned at the sound of the voice and frowned. ”What’s your name? Which class are you in?”

”Reporting, Instructor!”

”My name is Gu Yifan, from Financial Management Class One!”

Gu Yifan said quietly.

”Gu Yifan?”

Ge Rundong muttered the name, then pulled out a class roster. A quick glance confirmed that Gu Yifan’s name was on it.

”Why are you so late?”

he demanded, his expression darkening.

The instructor’s tone was harsh, but it was Gu Yifan’s fault for being late, so he didn’t get angry. ”Reporting, Instructor!” he said. ”I went to the wrong place first, that’s why I’m late!”

”The wrong place?”

Hearing Gu Yifan’s ridiculous excuse, Ge Rundong was clearly skeptical.

”Heh...”

He shot Gu Yifan a look and sneered, ”Good. Very good.”

Hearing that, Gu Yifan had a bad feeling.

Sure enough.

The next second, the stern-faced instructor roared, ”You! Go run ten laps for me, right now! Come back when you’re done!”

Gu Yifan: ”...”

At that moment, seeing that Gu Yifan was about to be punished, Peng Shaoqiang hurriedly stepped out from the formation.

”Reporting, Instructor Ge!”

he yelled. ”Gu Yifan is the student who’s exempt from military training!”

”Hm?”

Hearing Peng Shaoqiang, Ge Rundong frowned and turned to Gu Yifan. ”You’re exempt?”

”That’s right, Instructor!”

Gu Yifan nodded.

His answer made Ge Rundong’s frown deepen. He looked at Gu Yifan and said coldly, ”You seem perfectly fine and full of energy, you don’t look sick at all! Besides, if you’re exempt, what are you even doing here?”

”Er...”

Gu Yifan was taken aback.

’What’s that supposed to mean, ”you don’t look sick”? It’s not like I want to be sick.’

’The way he talks!’

’If you’re going to ask me like that, I don’t know how to answer!’

’Am I supposed to say I’m just a glutton for punishment who wanted to try military training?’

’As for the fact that the exemption was a recruitment perk from the university, Gu Yifan had no intention of explaining. He couldn’t be bothered. If he did, everyone would just think he was bragging.’

’He couldn’t be bothered with that kind of attention. It was pointless.’

”So... should I leave?”

Gu Yifan said tentatively after a moment’s thought, looking at the instructor.

Ge Rundong: ”...”

His words left Ge Rundong momentarily speechless, unsure how to respond.

”Hahahaha...”

The rest of the students, however, couldn’t help but burst out laughing at the comical exchange.

”SHUT UP!!!”

”What are you laughing at!”

”Did I say you could laugh!?”

Hearing the laughter, Ge Rundong’s face grew even darker. He spun around and roared at the students.

*Hiccup*... (O_O)...

The students immediately clamped their mouths shut, not daring to laugh again.

”Gu Yifan, right?”

”Are you participating in this military training or not?”

”If you’re not participating, then please leave. Don’t disrupt our training.”

Ge Rundong said coldly to Gu Yifan after a moment’s thought.

”Er...”

Gu Yifan was torn.

’I’ve already gotten on this instructor’s bad side. If I join the training now, he’ll definitely make my life difficult.’

’But if I don’t, I came all this way for nothing. Besides, Su Qinghe is doing it. It wouldn’t feel right if I just left.’

Just when everyone present assumed Gu Yifan would choose not to participate, envying his good fortune, he spoke up. ”Reporting, Instructor!”

”I’ll participate!”

he declared loudly, looking at the stern-faced instructor.

”Huh?”

Everyone present was momentarily stunned.

’Holy shit!’

’He’s actually choosing to do it?’

’The sun is brutal. Half a month of this, and you’ll probably peel a whole layer of skin!’

’Isn’t getting out of it a good thing?’

’Seriously!’

’They couldn’t even think of an excuse to get out of training, and here’s Gu Yifan, who actually has an exemption, choosing to throw it away!’

’Sigh...’

’What on earth is he thinking?’

’Is this how the top scorer on the college entrance exams thinks? So different from us normal people?’

Many people were completely baffled by Gu Yifan’s choice.

Even Ge Rundong was taken aback for a second.

A flicker of surprise crossed his eyes. He gave Gu Yifan a long look, then said flatly, ”Since you’re volunteering to participate, I’ll let your tardiness slide this time. Fall in.”

”Yes, Instructor!”

Gu Yifan nodded.

With that, he walked to the back of the formation and stood behind Wang Shouyi.

”Alright!”

”We’ve already wasted several minutes!”

”The training starts now!”

Ge Rundong scanned the group one last time, then shouted, ”Alright, listen up!”

”Attention!”

”At ease!”

”Right face!”

”Let’s start with a warm-up lap...”
