Moving On from the Tsundere, I Choose the Perfect Sweetheart

Chapter 158: Chapter 158: Arrival at Jinling, a Romantic... Waterbed Room?

Chen Dongmei paused, hearing the seemingly nervous tone in Su Qinghe’s voice on the other end of the line.

But she didn’t think much of it. After all, that was just Su Qinghe’s personality.

”Oh, oh.”

Chen Dongmei nodded. ”By the way, Qinghe, you two are on the train to Jinling now, right?”

”Huh?”

”Yes, we’re on the train!”

Su Qinghe replied from the other end of the line.

Hearing how nervous Su Qinghe sounded, Chen Dongmei couldn’t help but chuckle.

’This child really does have a bit of social anxiety!’

”Alright, silly girl, what are you so nervous for!”

Chen Dongmei said with a smile, ”Well... as long as you’re on your way, that’s good. Auntie won’t keep you then. When you get to Jinling, remember to have that rascal Gu Yifan let me know.”

”O-Okay, Auntie. I’ll remember to tell him!”

Su Qinghe replied obediently.

”Mhm, okay. That’s all for now. Remember to take good care of yourself. When you come back for the National Day holiday, Auntie will make you something delicious!”

Chen Dongmei said with a doting expression.

”Mhm!”

”Thank you, Auntie!”

”Goodbye, Auntie!”

Su Qinghe was a little touched. She nodded earnestly and spoke.

”Alright, goodbye, Qinghe!”

Chen Dongmei also said with a smile.

With that, the two of them hung up.

”Phew...”

After hanging up, Su Qinghe secretly let out a sigh of relief.

She was never good at lying, so dealing with a situation like that made her nervous as hell!

She couldn’t help but glance at Gu Yifan and pout.

’It’s all this stinky guy’s fault.’

Hmph!

Gu Yifan, who was driving, saw her little pout and naturally understood what she was thinking.

”Alright, alright. I’ll buy you an ice cream when we get to the rest stop. How about that?”

Gu Yifan shook his head helplessly.

”Oh?”

The moment she heard Gu Yifan was going to buy her ice cream, Su Qinghe’s eyes lit up!

”C-Can I have two?” she asked tentatively in a small voice.

Gu Yifan: ”...”

”No!”

He said, his tone final.

”Huh?”

Su Qinghe’s lips puckered into a pout. She turned her head to look out the window in silent protest.

However, Gu Yifan wasn’t falling for her act.

But seeing her adorable pout, he couldn’t help but soften his tone. ”It’s too hot. One is enough. If you eat too many, you’ll get diarrhea! Su Hanhan, you don’t want to have an accident in the car, do you?”

Su Qinghe: ”-_-||”

Although what Gu Yifan said seemed to make a lot of sense, there wasn’t a single thing she liked hearing!

’I don’t want to hear it!’

’Not listening, not listening, it’s all just gibberish!’

She chanted silently in her head.

If Gu Yifan knew what she was thinking right now, he’d probably stop the car, pull out a club, and teach her a harsh lesson on the spot!

...

「12:30 PM.」

At the highway rest stop, Su Qinghe got her wish and was eating the ice cream from Gu Yifan.

She held the ice cream with both hands, licking it in small bites. Perhaps because it was too cold, she would stick out her little tongue from time to time, looking absolutely adorable.

Watching her cute display, Gu Yifan couldn’t resist pinching her little cheek.

”Satisfied now?”

He said, exasperated. ”You silly Hanhan!”

”Mhm!”

Hearing Gu Yifan’s words, Su Qinghe’s peach blossom eyes curved into crescents as she nodded forcefully.

It was obvious she was extremely happy.

”Then shouldn’t you say something to me?”

Seeing her like this, Gu Yifan couldn’t help but want to tease her.

”Hm?”

Su Qinghe paused.

She tilted her head and thought for a moment, then looked at Gu Yifan with a serious expression and said, ”You’re a good person!”

Gu Yifan: ”... -_-||”

This sudden ”good person” card caught him completely off guard!

The corner of his mouth twitched. He said, speechless, ”You really have a way with words, don’t you!”

...

The two of them had lunch at the rest stop, filled up the gas tank, rested for a bit, and then continued on their way.

Driving on the highway the whole way was incredibly boring!

Gu Yifan told Su Qinghe to get some sleep, but she refused.

Because on their last trip to Minnan, she had fallen asleep. This time, she wanted to stay awake with Gu Yifan.

Seeing that Su Qinghe wouldn’t sleep, Gu Yifan just assumed she wasn’t tired yet, so he didn’t force her.

He turned up the music in the car a little, humming along as he drove. It didn’t feel all that tiring.

「2:30 AM.」

Gu Yifan slowly drove into the urban area of Jinling.

By now, even with his enhanced, powerful constitution, after driving for a full day, Gu Yifan felt a little tired.

In the passenger seat beside him, Su Qinghe’s eyelids were fighting to stay open, but she stubbornly refused to sleep.

At midnight, Gu Yifan had told her to sleep, but Su Qinghe still refused.

She just whispered, ”I want to stay with you.”

And just like that, Gu Yifan lost all his frustration.

’There’s nothing to be done!’

’Where else could I find such a silly, adorable girl!’

’How could I possibly get angry at her again!’

So he let her be. However, he sped up considerably, the gas pedal nearly floored.

”Su Hanhan!”

Gu Yifan said as he drove.

”Hm?”

Hearing his voice, Su Qinghe forced her eyes open and turned to look at him.

”We’re in Jinling. When we get to the hotel, you should just go to sleep first. You can shower after you wake up!”

Gu Yifan said.

Hearing this, Su Qinghe gently shook her head and said softly, ”I want to shower before sleeping.”

Even though she had been in the air-conditioned car all day and hadn’t sweated much, she wasn’t used to sleeping without showering.

”Fine, we’ll figure it out when we get to the hotel!”

Gu Yifan said.

With that, he turned the car and drove toward the end of the intersection...

「Ten minutes later.」

”Uh...”

”You’re saying there are no more suites?”

Gu Yifan asked the young woman at the hotel’s front desk.

”Yes!”

The young woman at the front desk nodded. ”We only have a couple’s king-size room and a ’romantic’ waterbed room left!”

’A romantic waterbed...’

’Why does that sound a little weird!’

Gu Yifan shook his head, quickly clearing away the messy thoughts in his mind.

’Suites are usually not in high demand!’

’Since I was driving all day and wasn’t sure if I’d make it to Jinling, I didn’t book a hotel in advance. I figured I’d just get one when I arrived!’

’And this is the result!’

’I should have just booked a hotel online beforehand,’ Gu Yifan thought with a sense of helplessness.

”Never mind, let’s just go check other hotels!”

”Thank you, miss!”

Gu Yifan thought for a moment and said.

After speaking, he turned and took Su Qinghe’s little hand, ready to leave.

Seeing this, the young woman at the front desk couldn’t help but offer a reminder. ”Uh... Sir, it’s peak summer travel season right now, and a lot of families are visiting Jinling. Suites are going to be hard to book anywhere in the city these last few days! Since it’s just the two of you, as a couple, I’d suggest just getting the romantic waterbed room. Our hotel’s romantic waterbed rooms are very nice, and they’re a great value.”

Gu Yifan: ”...”

’I planned for everything, but I didn’t plan for this!’

Just then, Su Qinghe, who was beside him, tugged on his sleeve and whispered, ”Maybe... we should just book one...”
