Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5242: Harvesting A World Hegemon Grade Treasure

The person from the Dragonheart Battle Sect looked to be in pure disbelief as he pointed at Epsila.

He looked more horrified than shocked as he saw an Empyrean Grade Exalted-Tier Pill.

Davis paused a bit as he turned to look back at him.

To be able to recognize that Epsila was a pill wasn’t an easy feat since she was already a fully formed spirit who could hide herself well, but as expected of an alchemist from the brightest alchemist sect in the entire Celestial Transcendent Galaxy.

Epsila’s pill essence aura didn’t escape from his eyes at all.

Suddenly, the crimson-white robe man rushed towards Davis, and then looked at Epsila with eyes filled with curiosity and greed. Davis could tell the other party’s emotions flared from shock, envy, and greed to helplessness as he tried to grab Epsila but ultimately put his hands down.

Forcing a smile that couldn’t be any more wretched as he suppressed himself, he asked, ”Fellow cultivator, what’s this pill? Can I have a closer look?”

”Epsila is not goods for you to inspect.” Davis said calmly.

”This... this is an Exalted-Tier Pill...! An entirely new spirit, the pinnacle of alchemy. Fellow cultivator, do you realize-”

The crimson-white robed man clenched his fists, unable to believe. He was still of the idea that this place was playing tricks on him. It had already played many tricks, but this was the first time it would be playing a trick like this.

But which alchemist from the Dragonheart Battle Sect wouldn’t strive to create an Exalted-Tier Pill?

It was a godly feat!

Even an Alchemist who could make World Hegemon Grade Pills wouldn’t be able to make an Empyrean Grade Exalted-Tier Pill! Even the chances of concocting a Spirit-Tier Pill were very low!

After the nine ranks, there was the tenth rank Perfect-Tier Pill, eleventh rank Ascended-Tier Pill, twelfth rank Spirit-Tier Pill, and thirteenth rank Exalt-Tier Pill.

Ascended-Tier Pills would have an instinctual consciousness upon flying out from the cauldron and would try to swiftly escape after facing a Pill Tribulation.

Spirit-Tier Pills would birth a spirit of consciousness after successfully crossing a Heavenly Lightning Tribulation, unlike a Pill Tribulation.

On the other hand, an Exalted-Tier Pill would face both Heavenly Lightning and Heavenly Fire Tribulation. If it passed, the spirit would form and would be allowed to take a humanoid form and even cultivate! Although they couldn’t procreate, they would be no different than a spirit!

Not many disciples even knew that Exalted-Tier Pills existed, but these were fabled existences that wouldn’t be seen easily, as they were concealed and protected by the major powers. Even his Dragonheart Battle Sect only had three Exalted-Tier Pills, and they were special existences who were comparable to the Grand Elders even though their cultivation was still stuck at the Exalt Stage!

Just being able to receive a Pill Bestowal from them would allow one to soar into a supreme genius comparable to an Empyreal Autarch easily and then give them greater chances to step into the Omega Exalt Stage!

He couldn’t help but gravely wonder what kind of Exalted-Tier Pill this spirit named Epsila was.

He bit his lips, thinking he shouldn’t go overboard since the other party was very likely a reincarnator, previously a World Hegemon to boot. Even if not, to be able to stroll around with an Exalted-Tier Pill, it already spoke of the noble and rich status the man exuded.

He wondered which Young Master or reincarnator this person was.

”You have something to say?” Davis asked coldly as he saw the man had gone silent.

The crimson-white robed man lowered his head, ”My apologies. I overstepped my bounds and was lacking in demeanor. I should’ve interacted with the pill spirit with more tact and respect. I hope you both could forgive me.”

Davis scanned him, thinking he was somewhat sincere. The other party had really let go of his pride to survive, even bowing his head to a Level Five Empyrean.

Only then did Davis turn around and continue to walk.

Epsila tapped her chin with her finger, looking ever-curious. She dangled her legs while she sat comfortably on Davis’s shoulder, her hand on his neck. Then, she flicked her tongue out at the alchemist before hiding within Davis’s robe.

”...”

The alchemist could only wryly smile upon seeing that

Taking a deep breath, he prepared to follow this great person. He imagined that he might not leave this place alive, his death caused by the natural dangers or the person walking in front of him since he had already offended him, but he had no choice.

He could only go with the flow after being stuck for so long.

They continued to walk, encountering illusory horrors, but the man in front of him never faltered, so he followed him closely, eventually even starting to believe that he might make it out if he stuck together. He couldn’t understand how the other party wasn’t affected by illusions and even had a faint layer of barrier around him that made illusions disperse. If it weren’t for the latter, he would’ve quickly died to the illusions in this place.

Soon, they crossed the narrow path. It opened into a cavern.

Black mist crawled across the ground while pale mist floated above, leaving a narrow region of clarity between them. Countless tiny flowers grew from cracks in the cavern walls, their petals transparent enough to be almost invisible.

Epsila’s eyes gleamed, ”It’s close.”

Davis walked ahead with eagerness, his steps even turning faster.

”Ah- wait...!”

The alchemist suddenly gained distance from Davis and accidentally got out of the border as he stumbled over a rock under the black mist.

Abruptly, he saw countless Divine Emperors of Death and Epsilas appear in his vision.

”This way.”

”No, here.”

”I found it.”

”Don’t listen to them.”

Thousands of voices echoed simultaneously as they each pointed in a different way, making him feel a cold chill.

Then one Divine Emperor of Death suddenly glanced around before calmly gazing at him, ”You need to die.”

The alchemist felt his soul leave his body as a thick essence of illusion surged inside his body and dragged his soul out from his forehead. Instantly, he was closer to death than ever, unable to even retaliate. The countless Divine Emperors of Death and Epsilas around him all gathered around him, coldly gazing at him as he felt suffocated.

Suddenly, a hand reached out, slapping him.

”Wake up.”

The alchemist felt his soul jolt as he returned. He raised his hand and felt a searing pain on his cheek and his soul sea, but at this moment, he couldn’t describe how grateful he was for getting slapped.

”You’re so weak.” Davis said in an annoyed voice, ”You should’ve waited back there. Don’t fall back next time, or I will loot your corpse instead of saving you again.”

”...!”

The alchemist trembled before nodding a few times silently yet fiercely.

Davis turned around again.

Although the illusion here was powerful, he still felt that if it was Anastasia Archus, she wouldn’t have a problem with it. Even Riaz Heavenshade might still survive by utilizing the ability of the Dragon’s Will to offset being deceived by illusions, just as his own reincarnation-attribute Enigmatic Will was nearly impervious to illusions, although his immunity was obviously stronger.

With Enigmatic Heart Laws, only Laphria’s illusions during the battle were able to fool his eyes and other senses.

’I wonder if a person with their destiny stolen would die easily...’ Davis wondered, but then knew that since he was here, he could easily make that person live or die.

At this point, he knew he was also a villain capable of severing destinies and usurping fates.

Soon, Davis, Epsila, and the alchemist found themselves in darkness.

In the center, they could see nothing else other than a perfectly still lake made up of black water. Its surface reflected nothing, not even the faint glow of crystals embedded around the cavern. In the black lake, floated innumerable pale flowers.

They resembled lotuses from afar, but each possessed ten narrow petals layered upon one another. Their petals constantly changed colors, shifting from white to violet, violet to blue, blue to black, and then becoming transparent.

Every time their colors changed, the scenery surrounding the lake changed alongside them.

For one moment, Davis felt like returned to Planet Earth. Then he was surrounded by a strange family where he continued to stay and lived his life off as Tian Long. Then he arrived at an endless ocean, the Grand Sea Continent, and met Logan, killed him, took the royal throne, and fancied himself emperor. Then he went to defeat the Ruth Empire and took Isabella as a prize.

”Wait... wait... wait... I don’t like this story, change it...”

Davis raised his hand and swiped his finger as though he was scrolling, but seeing nothing new come out, he swiped again.

The world suddenly turned silent.

”Ahh!~”

An illusion spirit rushed out of the black pool and fled towards a corner as it felt its soul essence was harmed.

Davis followed the spirit with his gaze and located what he was looking for. This Empyrean Spirit had actually borrowed the power of the World Hegemon Grade Treasure to safeguard the treasure or kill people. It was no wonder that no matter who came here, they didn’t survive.

If it weren’t for his impervious Enigmatic Will, even a Level Nine Exalt would fall here.

Nonetheless, his gaze fell on a single flower growing from a thin crack in an underground stone pillar with a liquefied basin.

Its stem was pitch-black, and its leaves were dark violet.

Ten thousand slender petals surrounded its center, arranged in layers so numerous that they resembled a blooming world rather than a flower. Every petal reflected something, depicting mountains, oceans, stars, magical beasts, spirits, and a myriad of scenes.

”That is... Dark Eon Illusory Dream Flower...”

The alchemist’s gaze quivered as his eyes turned into tiny slits.

He trembled greatly, ”A darkness-illusion attributed Low-Level World Hegemon Grade Treasure...”

”Oh, you recognize it?” Davis nodded with appreciation, ”You must be someone really important in the Dragonheart Battle Sect for you to be able to learn about World Hegemon Grade treasures while still being an Empyrean, even if you are from a Greater Realm. I might consider dragging you around for the rest of the journey...”

He spoke offhandedly before approaching it.

”Don’t! Its terrifying illusions are entirely on another level if you try to harvest-”

The alchemist’s mouth suddenly stopped yapping as he saw the Divine Emperor of Death bend down, harvest the flower safely along with the slab, and then store it into a spatial jade container before throwing it into a ring, which turned out to be the Temporal Voidplane Ring, where time stopped for it.

Since it lacked a spirit, it didn’t weigh much at all, and the darkness-illusion energy essence wasn’t leaking either.

Davis caressed the Temporal Voidplane Ring with his thumb finger as he took advantage of its ability. It was indeed a profound replica of an apex treasure. He felt the need to upgrade to Peak-Level Exalt Grade, and after that, no one could touch him in the Upper Realms, as he would be able to easily escape.
