Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5238: Another Type Of Ring

”The Earthly Law of Parenting; many cultivators actually fail at this gloriously. To think a brother can fulfill it while being chased to the ends of the realms. I, Handsome Fatty, am truly in awe.”

”...”

Davis turned speechless.

Although his parenting skills were nearly flawless in his own opinion since he catered to his children’s emotions due to the power of Heart Intent but didn’t give them the luxury to grow up spoiled and become a wastrel, the amount of time he spent with them could only be said to be pitiful at best.

This was one of his very few regrets that occasionally surfaced in his mind.

But their mothers were there for them, especially Shea, so his absence hadn’t affected them much either.

In fact, when he occasionally appeared, his children’s emotions were always overjoyed, and even if they were sulking like Eterna would do initially, a small amount of cajoling would quickly allow him to enter their hearts.

He had taught his children in Class One and Class Two when he had gotten time during the Ten Year Covenant, so when he got back, he supposed he must work swiftly on Class Three as soon as possible. Class Three was particularly worrisome since some of their physiques had affected their mentality. It was for the same reason he felt like bringing along Jillian Hayden, although he wouldn’t let her try anything since he would just like to hear out her diagnosis first.

”What about you? You sound like you have worthy children yourself.”

”How can that be?” The Handsome Fatty’s eyes darted with an embarrassed voice, but there was a confident smirk on his lip, ”How can my children compare? They’re quite the gluttons.”

He caressed his ring softly, causing Davis to look at it.

From its aura, it felt like a life ring, but something felt amiss.

There were just too many lives inside as he saw Handsome Fatty’s karmic threads enter it like it was a bundle of threads.

Because of the spatial instability aspect of living creatures weighing on space without the support of a spatial node, and burdening the ring and even the wearer itself, a life ring wouldn’t be able to support so many lives unless it was specialized, which at that point they could only be referred to as-

”Is that a World Ring?”

”...”

Handsome Fatty’s brows raised, ”Indeed. Keep it a secret.”

Davis nodded lightly as he looked away.

World Rings were rare as they contained a spatial realm inside, just like a mini-realm, sometimes having innate formation defenses and even karmic defenses. They could sustain themselves with Transcendent Crystal Vein Cores as sources.

’No wonder Handsome Fatty seemed so happy when I gifted him the Peak-Level Transcendent Crystal Vein Core when we met at the Eighth Bastion City’s gate...’

This gift had earned considerable favor.

As for how rare it was, Davis hadn’t come across a single one of them even with all the plundering he had done, mainly because he heard World Rings couldn’t be found in the Second Layer. This was because imposing a moving world onto reality was really difficult, even if it was within a ring. It tended to infringe on the spatial layers, so upon their movement, they quickly gave out under the pressure of the spatial layers acting upon it like they were curtains being dragged, forming enormous pressure that destroyed the treasure.

Unless it was a lifeform like Stella, such a thing wouldn’t be allowed.

But clearly, Handsome Fatty’s World Ring appeared to be special, likely found from an ancient inheritance that bypassed the pressure or maybe even housed a Divergent Beast’s spatial-attribute core.

”I see you have also hunted Divergents...”

”It was actually my first son...” The Handsome Fatty rubbed the bridge of his nose with pride, ”I have also hunted two, naturally not a solo endeavor, but still...”

”Admirable legacy.”

Davis couldn’t help but smile, ”Perhaps you can let this son of yours accompany my first son. They may be able to become brothers like us.”

”I’m afraid not.” The Handsome Fatty pursed his lips.

”I see.”

Davis figured that the first son was taken hostage.

He probed further, speaking indirectly unlike himself, before figuring out that his first wife and a few other favorites were also taken hostage.

Davis’s expression was calm, but inwardly, he was boiling with rage.

Perhaps he should’ve made it clear to the Celestial Transcendent that his allies’ families were also off-limits, but he supposed that would be asking too much. The fact that he still had Zhao Yan was still a miracle. Clearly, it had greatly displeased the Celestial Transcendent. Perhaps he had taken them as a warning to let him know what would happen next if he went against his words of exchanging Zhao Yan.

Making the non-Divergents of the Davis Family become the ruling power also meant placing them in the hands of the Supreme Ruler.

”...”

After what seemed to be a long time of silence, Davis couldn’t believe he had to finally start considering politics and diplomacy seriously in this scheme-filled immortal world instead of just breaking through with pure force like he did for the past decades. It seemed like he also needed to improve the External Affairs Department headed by Natalya, Lea, and Yilla.

If Zenova wasn’t a Divergent, he would’ve certainly added her there. For the same reason, he must also remove Lea from it since she was a Divergent.

That left an empty spot, but he wasn’t sure if Lea would step down, so he put the matter at the back of his head for now.

Soon, they arrived at a major point of interest in a flying boat. It was one of the seven places where the light was glowing brilliantly, according to Epsila.

This flying boat flicked across the skies as it exited the spatial gates, but it wasn’t due to its propulsion or warp mechanisms but because of the Temporal Voidplane Ring’s ability.

Davis simply had a greater amount of energy capacity right now.

Davis looked over and saw the vast mountains.

Beyond these mountains lay the Hexadra Clan, but this vast mountain range from the west was said to be impenetrable due to the secret realm present here. Thick mist oozed out of this secret realm and spread across the mountains, making it difficult for anyone to cross.

White Mist Hydra Mountain.

From the details recorded in the maps he had bought from the Eighth Bastion City and plundered from other cultivators, he knew only Empyreans would be able to enter this secret realm.

He turned to look at Epsila, and she pointed towards what he guessed to be the entrance of the secret realm. Channeling reincarnation energy into his eyes, his gaze followed hers, his sapphire pupils spirally into an iridescent vortex as it eliminated nearly all illusions barring his vision.

”I’ll go inside with Epsila and quickly come back. If I don’t return within three hours, continue to search for treasures.”

Davis and Epsila got out, and they quickly soared towards the secret realm.

Meanwhile, to the west of the Six-Headed Hydra Upper Realm, Fairy Qiyra Darkstar had already arrived at the first location she chose due to it being the nearest.
