Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5204: Final Bout

The Celestial Transcendent avatars had their eyes narrowed as they looked at Davis from two angles.

From his senses, he discovered Davis’s prowess at this moment was Level Sixteen Exalt Stage. However, this brat told him that his Mark of Samsara increased his prowess by three levels. From Level Fourteen Exalt, that would mean he had neared the layer limit, Level Seventeen Exalt.

The fact that he was staying at Level Sixteen Exalt meant he was intentionally suppressing his prowess yet again.

He could instantly tell why, since Davis’s scythe attacks were honestly powerful, bringing his offensive prowess to the layer limit as it increased his prowess by one or two more levels. The combination of State of Divine Possession and Death Reaper State, one of which was an Utmost Law and the other a Mid-Level Supreme Law, was terrifying to say the least.

This allowed the Divine Emperor of Death to swing as much as he wanted without fear of being thrown out. It could be said that he arrived at the optimal level to swing his scythes without having to suppress his scythe techniques. By just suppressing the cultivation alone, he would fare far better than those who needlessly reach Level Seventeen Exalt Stage and end up suppressing the power of their techniques instead, causing them to end up being killed foolishly.

He had to admit that this brat’s battle instincts were one of the best he had ever seen. He positioned himself advantageously nearly every single time, allowing him to stay afloat.

Still-

Unwittingly, he supposed he became the whetstone for what is known as this monstrous genius, who made it this far without even taking a unique cultivation path like the World Master of the First Haven World.

He knew it was his fault for wanting to maintain some semblance of civility since Davis was not an evil person, but most importantly, he still wanted his son-in-law back.

Nonetheless, with things having advanced to this point, he supposed there was no longer any need for civility.

”So your prowess increases every time you die?” The Celestial Transcendent to the front asked.

”That makes things easier.” The Celestial Transcendent, to the back, said with a cold chuckle.

”...” Davis’s brows narrowed.

The Celestial Transcendent continued, his voice echoing back and forth.

”I just have to kill you one or a few more times-”

”-Then you’ll be sent out of the void for rising above the layer limit.”

”You can try and stop using your replica in an attempt to keep yourself here-”

”-But I’ll be able to seal you easily.”

”...” Davis’s widely curled lips parted, ”As expected of the Celestial Transcendent. Even if you are surprised, nothing ever fazes you.”

He then spread his hands, looking ecstatic, ”However, I don’t think mere avatars can defeat me at the same level. Show up with your true body and then you’ll see me run for my life, hahaha!”

”You became insane...”

The Celestial Transcendent saw that this Ghost Will’s spectral body carried an aura full of resentment and vengeance. It unleashed an aura full of killing intent against him that nearly turned into a thick miasma of death energy.

”Is my Hex Demoness still safe?”

Davis abruptly asked, causing the Celestial Transcendent to blink.

”Who knows? Maybe you should go take a look before she gets killed by Realm Master Felza Nyssadra.”

Davis’s pupils quivered.

He could sense his avatar being poisoned since something was trying to affect him here. His reincarnation soul and Will was naturally proficient when it came to dealing with karmic attacks, so whatever was trying to affect him didn’t manage to get him. He was too strong at the moment. Hence, he felt that what his avatar got poisoned by was none other than the hell poison from the Hell Poison Gem’s replica.

Moreover, he also sensed that some of the undead had also become poisoned.

This could only mean Evelynn had unleashed the Hell Poison Gem’s replica.

The urge to practically abandon this place and rush to her side swelled within him, but he felt strangely calm.

His Evelynn had probably finished her job, and his avatar was still alive. The Frostcloud Sword Empress was also there. Even he didn’t think that he would be able to win against her without using Fallen Heaven. Isn’t that the reason why he sent the Frostcloud Sword Empress with Evelynn and not keep her here?

Hence, why was there a need to be worried?

He gripped the scythe firmly as his frozen smile turned insidious, ”Courting death!”

The three of them abruptly disappeared from their positions.

Space itself seemed to buckle where they had stood, air rushing in to fill the void their bodies left behind. When they reappeared, it was already too late for any reconsideration, as only their intent to finish this battle once and for all remained.

Davis met the first Celestial Transcendent avatar head-on, his scythe singing as it cut through a descending palm wreathed in searing flaming chaos, while the second avatar flanked him from the void’s edge like a shadow given cruel intent, spatial might flowing out. The clash between his blade and that palm rang out like a funeral bell tolling across some vast, lightless temple.

When their attacks collided, the surrounding space fractured into black glass, spider-webbing outward with a horrifying sound.

Davis’s spectral form flickered, bending around the strike like smoke refusing to be caught, and in that instant of near-formlessness, he was already gone from where he’d been standing, reappearing behind the second avatar in a smear of gray and violet.

”You’re still running.” The Celestial Transcendent’s avatar sounded unbothered as he turned.

”Running?” Davis’s grin was full of resentment.

Resentment for hunting him like a dog. Resentment for hunting him for a reason he understood but couldn’t accept.

His scythe dragged a trailing arc of yin lightning and spatial reversal launched by the other avatar. It tried to flip his movement and badly injure his Ghost Will, but his scythe was seemingly able to cut through it, crackling motes of corrosive black-violet energy scattering into the dark like dying stars, and for one heartbeat, the void around them seemed to groan as though it was going to give out.

’Wraith Mourning Scythe Art, First Style: Haunting Teardrop!’

Davis used the only scythe technique he knew to the final letter as his death energy flowed out from his soul in tandem with the black-white stone replica and Enigmatic Will. Together, they kept pouring into the scythe he was firmly grasping from the moment this exchange began. Then, he imposed his Will into his scythe intent, making the curved blade even more vicious and deadly.

His body spun into a vertical rotation, weightless and merciless, his scythe trailing a crescent arc that wept as it cut into a shape like a falling teardrop.

The second avatar of the Celestial Transcendent barely had time to raise its guard because of the injuries.

The Haunting Teardrop met with flesh and sliced through the entire body like tofu.

For a moment, nothing happened at all. Then it split.

The crescent had already passed clean through, top from bottom, in a diagonal so precise it looked almost gentle until the two halves of the Celestial Transcendent’s avatar slid apart with a wet, tearing sound, spilling not blood but raw, radiant chaotic essence that scattered into the void like raindrops turned to light.

Davis had no time to even witness it as he was body slammed, sent flying- right into the abyss.

When Davis looked down, his pupils dilated as he saw the Celestial Transcendent returning with the Stormheart Incarnation Prism in his hand.

’Shit!’

Davis inwardly roared as he felt that it was a calculated sacrifice from the Celestial Transcendent. Moreover, this avatar had returned too soon! He guessed that there wasn’t much he could do to hide it with his death energy since the Celestial Transcendent’s truesoul was connected with it.

He could only curse.

*Crackle!~* *Crackle!~*

Golden divine lightning shot from below the abyssal cavity, nearly lighting up the endless maw that was seemingly going to swallow him.

*Bang!~*

The lightning struck him, immobilizing him in place and nearly making him scream in pain as it tried to fry his Ghost Will. It was even more effective than he had expected, making his consciousness spin.

Like a lasso, those golden lightning arcs surrounded him and were dragging him into the Stormheart Incarnation Prism.

Davis felt that he was unable to get rid of these arcs of golden lightning forming chains around him. However, he wasn’t out of options since he was able to regain himself by the last second.

With a horizontal spin, Davis cut through the golden lightning chains with his terrifying scythe that now seemed to carry a firm scythe aura imbued by his overbearing Will. It sought to slash through anything and strip it of its energy and vitality, no matter what it was.

”...!”

But suddenly, he was body slammed again, the Celestial Transcendent putting him in a lock as his arms wrapped around his upper body and even sealed the movement of his arms.

”Let’s go together. You should be happy that you managed to seal two of my avatars.”

”~!@#$^&*”

Davis wanted to curse out loud as he felt like it was over.

The golden glow of the Stormheart Incarnation Prism surged once again from the fourth Celestial Transcendent’s avatar while the third avatar firmly held him from even being able to struggle.

His spectral Ghost Will’s body was actually caught!

It was literally captured by the Celestial Transcendent, who also encased himself in solar yang energy. He felt like he was buried in flaming sand.

It felt insane to have the tables turned, much less be burned alive. He couldn’t even use the Hundred Voidroach Scatter Technique as the other party’s vice grip held him in place as though solidifying his spectral body.
