Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5220: Aboard The Obsidian Flying Palace

Shortly before making it to the heavenly life lake, in the obsidian flying palace Fairy Glacia and the others were in...

Davis sat beside Evelynn in an isolated chamber.

She was currently asleep on a low bed, her complexion rosy.

She wasn’t having fever, but it was a sign of a healthy recovery after her health had gotten worse from being affected by hell poison. The curves of her big bosoms rose and fell in gently rhythm, straining subtly against the thin silk of her inner robe with each breath.

Davis gently caressed her forehead, rubbing her third eye softly with his thumb.

Fortunately, she was only exhausted after excavating all her energy to fire up the Hell Poison Gem’s replica and then finally remove poison from herself, Davis’s avatar, Illumina, and Fairy Glacia.

The hell poison had a high fatality rate and was also capable of spreading if physical and karmic contact was made.

The four of them had been poisoned in variable amounts, with herself having endured the highest dose while Fairy Glacia the least. She could withstand it using the Hell Poison Gem’s replica, disallowing it to spread within her body, so the second one that was poisoned, Davis’s avatar, was in the most danger.

Evelynn didn’t rest until she dispersed every wisp of poison.

The Hell Poison Gem’s replica also seemed to have gone silent, no longer responding to the Hell Hydra Monarch’s call as they had gained enough distance from the Galaxy Wormhole Battlefield.

Davis knew if this treasure didn’t like Evelynn, it would’ve definitely released a surge of poison and rushed away. Fortunately, Evelynn seemed to have satisfied its nature of poisoning and causing mass extinction. It was also nearly empty and needed to recharge.

Thinking it was fine to step out after personally monitoring her for a long time, Davis caressed her cheek and placed a kiss on her forehead before telling Wisteria to look after her.

”Don’t worry, master. I didn’t have the chance to play my part in the previous battle, but I’ll definitely watch over my mistress~”

An airy, cold voice resounded in Davis’s soul sea, causing him to nod and move out of the chamber.

Wisteria had possessed the corpse of the undying old man in the coffin from underneath the Eighth Bastion City with Davis’s help, so she was capable of releasing a might near the layer limit for a short time. But she couldn’t find the right timing to help since Evelynn didn’t choose to release the corpse in her life ring.

Nonetheless, from all the death and decay Wisteria was able to absorb, she had entered the Exalt Stage on their way to the heavenly life lake.

It made up for a short delay, but no one worried since they knew the Celestial Transcendent let them flee after the skies changed.

Davis stepped out and saw that Illumina was waiting outside.

”Amazingly done, Illumina.” Davis praised her yet again as his gentle expression turned into a smile, ”Without you, Evelynn wouldn’t have survived. Your contributions are immense.”

”I wouldn’t have survived if it weren’t for your intervention, master.”

Illumina cupped her hands firmly and kept a humble attitude, but her bunny ears pricked up all the way in happiness.

Davis raised his hand and patted Illumina’s shoulder.

He wanted to hug her and flirt but knew the situation was still quite confusing in the heavenly life lake since he had connected with his true body after traversing half the distance. The true body knew the fighting had stopped, but it was currently engaged in a comprehension session devoid of focus on the outside world. He still didn’t know what had occurred after the initial hour of the reversal of the Desolate Era.

Nonetheless, he leaned in and said with bated breath over her bunny ear.

”Prepare yourself. We have gained seven days of reprieve, so there’s no escaping this time.”

”...”

Illumina’s lips parted as they quivered. If they had gained seven days of reprieve, their chances of escaping were high, but obviously, she instantly knew the meaning behind his words.

Davis walked away with a smug expression after saying his piece before heading into the gathering hall where he saw Fairy Glacia Frigidveil.

He greeted her and informed her that the reversal of the Desolate Era was really accomplished by their actions, but-

”It seems I have somehow not only reversed the Desolate Era but also accelerated into the Golden Era.”

”...!?”

Fairy Glacia Frigidveil raised her brows while the others looked shocked.

Other than them, there were Epsila, Lereza, Jillian Hayden, Zevonn Malark, and also the newcomers Ophirya Kaelis and her retainer, Tsaryn Shaddis. The rest of the Shaddis Clan were in other chambers.

”No wonder the Celestial Transcendent let us go easily...”

Fairy Glacia Frigidveil finally nodded in understanding.

The purple-gold skies had been worrying at that time, but they experienced the spread of pure heaven and earth energy; they knew it was a good thing but really didn’t expect it to be the start of the-

”Golden Era...”

Lereza opened her mouth with surprise, explaining her odd knowledge that Davis already knew to the others. Davis also added what happened between him and the Celestial Transcendent during and after the battle. He bragged and made himself look and sound so cool despite getting his ass kicked for most of the time.

It made everyone shocked as they gazed at Davis with a renewed glint, wondering just how much he intended to surprise them as the result of this mission was supposed to be just miserably fleeing even if they succeeded, but with the advent of the Golden Era, not only did he buy them seven days of reprieve but even got a chance to participate in the succession battle for the control over the Six-Headed Hydra Upper Realm.

This was insane...!

Jillian Hayden blinked.

This was supposed to be an Anarchic Divergent, right? How could they gain reprieve in the Upper Realms where Divergents were hunted down without fail most of the time?

But not for a moment did she think she was dreaming since they hadn’t been attacked for an entire hour now, even though there were an extreme number of forces between the destination and the Galaxy Wormhole Battlefield.

The others also rejoiced.

It turns out that the ceasefire command from the Celestial Transcendent was true! It was no wonder they weren’t attacked all this time!

”Our decision to head to meet up with the other group directly was correct. I knew these purple-gold skies were a good thing...”

Davis grinned. Others may not know, but he could sense a warm feeling from the skies, not to mention he had seen that these skies were nearly the same as Heavenly Water Tribulation.

”Thank you for saving us, Divine Emperor of Death.” Ophirya Kaelis moved to the forefront at this time, ”As promised, I am completely at your service and will do anything in my power to entertain your requests. My Nightshade Ocean Phantasm Clan will be under your protection, so we will listen to you without fail.”

Her expression was one of majesty, a serpentine beauty draped in sapphire silk that shimmered in the aquamarine light. Her long, silver-white hair flowed with an untamed grace. Her dress clung to her figure in elegance, with a plunging cut over her cleavage and waist, revealing both her allure and her mesmerizing figure.

Her lower serpentine body’s scales glistened with azure hues, nearly transcending the color as though she were a statue made up of crystals.

She seemed to have long changed from her rags after getting into the flying palace.

The others turned to look at her, wondering who she was since she was from the Hydra Galaxy. Her aura was also rejected by the heaven and earth energy, not because she was an Anarchic Divergent but because she was from another galaxy.

They knew it would take some time before the aura of the Hydra Galaxy could recede before the current galaxy accepts her. With two layers of restriction imposed upon her, she and her clan might not find it easy to settle down for the initial year. They would need to take supplements like pills to restore their energy.

”First, swear your absolute loyalty to the Davis Family.”

Davis said without a hint of hesitation, ”If that’s not possible, swear that you wouldn’t intentionally harm the Davis Family even if we were to persecute you suddenly.”

”...” Ophirya Kaelis’s lips parted behind her veil.

That was such a tall order, but she could only swallow her pride and bow as she chose one of the two, ”I, Ophirya Kaelis, Priestess of the Nightshade Ocean Phantasm Clan, exiled Divine Oracle of the Dreamsilk Karmic Usurper Serpent Clan, promise to never intentionally harm the Davis Family or even hold ill will should they persecute me one day until the Divine Emperor of Death finally releases me from this oath.”

”Priestess...” Tsaryn Shaddis said with a worried expression.

She saw bloodsoul essence from the person she swore to protect rising up from her forehead before it karmically bound itself to this vow. This was way more effective than just swearing to the heavens, as it was a self-imposed punishment that cannot be undone until someone else says it was fine.

This meant that even if Davis died without releasing her from this oath, it would still hold true.

Davis smiled strangely as he saw her choice of words but still nodded.

”Good. Thank you for your understanding. I cannot allow a powerful Anarchic Divergent to run amok in my family, especially when they’re a powerful karmic expert who could even steal my blood in broad daylight.”

”That’s...” Ophirya Kaelis sounded worried, wanting to explain herself.

”I’m just kidding.” Davis chuckled, ”You did well contacting me that way to gain my attention without attracting the notice of others. You trusted me and brought your entire clan to the frontlines where a single attack from a layer limit expert could’ve cost all your lives. You made it so much easier for Lereza to pick you up, so you earned this aid by yourself. Still, I’ll hold onto your earlier promise. Go see Tia after we get back to our home and help her with anything she deems necessary.”

”Understood.” Ophirya Kaelis cupped her hands in respect and a firm determination to repay.

She had told him she would completely be at his service.

But even as she was desperate, she wasn’t motivated to fulfill this promise until they were all saved. After all, not a single one of them died in this giant battle, which seemed like a dream to her. She had taken the duty of being a Priestess of the Nightshade Ocean Phantasm Clan seriously because she was grateful to them for taking her in and protecting her despite her calamitous nature, but now she had never felt more grateful to anyone in her life than this person before her.

However, her white eyes held a shade of worry as she thought about that little monster known as Tia.

She wouldn’t demand her bloodsoul essence at their second meeting, would she?
