Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5222: The Remnant Crimson Crystal

When Davis looked closely, he managed to find that the Galaxy Wormhole was still swirling, but it was extremely slow, as though it had stopped moving altogether.

’This ice isn’t only stopping the push and pulling force of the wormhole but also sealing the spatial force to a near standstill... this is... quite similar to the Sealing Laws described by Clara and makes it infinitely long for a being to travel back and forth or even attacks to land...?’

Davis speculated. For a moment, he wondered why the Celestial Transcendent hadn’t used this kind of ice to seal him.

Surely, the process of his Ghost Will Rebirth could also slow down, or else was this particular ice not capable of slowing down anything other than space?

In that case, he could understand why Fairy Qiyra Darkstar would be afraid of the Supreme One. One of her most important powers was countered just like that, and with the domain reversal the Celestial Transcendent showed, her twilight powers were also in jeopardy.

He looked more carefully and found traces of something incomprehensible. He narrowed his eyes and focused his gaze, only to find three Celestial Transcendents fighting the Hell Hydra Monarch within the icy mountain- yet extremely slow, as though they were stuck in a time chamber that moved at a snail’s pace.

Davis’s jaw dropped.

The Celestial Transcendent seemed to have trapped himself and the Hell Hydra Monarch into this strange environment.

He then slowly noticed the scene around the sealed Galaxy Wormhole.

It was a total mess, with no living beings and only a river of poisoned blood.

He could tell that the battle between the Celestial Transcendent and the Hell Hydra Monarch resulted in the total change of the landscape, while space at the center was still in a shattered and twisted state, worse than the time he had left.

As for the Asura Dimension cracks, they also appeared to have been closed or sealed. Some small cracks were there, allowing for a few monsters to rush out, but they were taken care of rather easily by the troops already positioned there.

”It seems like you really want to get sealed.” Abruptly, a voice boomed out from above.

Davis raised his hands in defense, ”Wait... wait! Let me do my part as a fellow human and clean up the battlefield of the invading forces. I require no payment. I can be incredibly efficient and can cause casualties to decrease from our side, you know.”

”...”

”Scram! Do you think I’ll allow you to comprehend Level Two Obscure Intent of Scythe Laws and become even more of a threat!?”

”Tch...”

=========

Above the heavenly life lake, Davis opened his eyes.

With the avatar having returned to the Galaxy Wormhole Battlefield and him being able to sense it because he had increased his cultivation base to Level Seven Empyrean Stage and increased the power of his Will to Mid Level World Hegemon Stage while the desolate air no longer impeded him because there was no desolate air, he knew his avatar was doing just fine along with Yama.

There was still fifteen percent of heavenly life lake left. What was once huge had now shrunk to the size of a football field.

All this essence was totally his to use, and Davis loved this feeling of being rewarded like this, a total change from getting punished all the time by the heavens.

Nonetheless, he kept this fifteen percent for a reason instead of using it for other purposes.

He looked above and saw Fairy Qiyra Darkstar, Jaiyan, and Laphria Rinmei still guarding him.

He nodded slightly, causing them to return the nod.

Jaiyan stepped forward with an exaggerated movement, spinning once before placing a hand over his chest.

A bright smile spread across his face before he opened his mouth wide.

”Oh glorious Heaven’s Warriors, guardians clad in endless light~ Whose blades have never known regret, whose hearts are ever right~”

”...!”

The Heaven’s Warriors’ expressions churned as though they had never felt this uncomfortable in their lives.

”You hunted every Divergent, with justice in your hands, yet one escaped your righteous grasp to reshape all the lands. How splendid was your vigilance, how flawless was your aim.”

”You spared the Divine Emperor of Death and earned immortal fame!~”

”Be proud! Be proud! Raise high your swords! The Golden Era blooms today because... you succeeded in failure!~”

”Ridiculous!” The Heaven’s Warriors roared.

Venerable Knight Foredawn’s expression didn’t change but even he wanted to leave. The fight was over before he had even got here.

Meanwhile, Fairy Qiyra Darkstar and Laphria Rinmei had already shrouded the field in twilight-illusion mist long ago. They did it slowly since Davis had told them to do so. With Davis’s cue, they activated it, seamlessly imposing the illusion over reality without even making Venerable Knight Foredawn blink.

It was especially easy since Jaiyan’s dashing yet accursed voice was making them shudder with all kinds of uncomfortable emotions.

Nonetheless, Davis finally took out the crimson desolate crystal and gazed at it.

It rested upon his palm like the crystallized heart of an ancient calamity.

The crystal was roughly cylindrical, nearly the length of his palm and wrist, but no craftsman could have carved such a shape. It looked as though an immense pillar of crimson mineral had been violently shattered, leaving behind countless naturally formed ridges and razor-sharp fractures.

Its body was neither fully transparent nor fully opaque.

Layer upon layer of translucent crimson overlapped like countless sheets of frozen blood-colored glass. Looking into its depths, he found what seemed to be an endless canyon filled with suspended crimson-black mist.

His gaze churned as he sensed it was a source found like something found within a Quintessence Orb. However, this was much more at a higher grade, making him nearly hold his breath.

He turned to look around suddenly.

With a realistic illusory world imposed on reality, Davis wasn’t worried about the Desolate Crystal being discovered anymore. The Heaven’s Warriors would have to attack in order to find what he was doing, and that would be going against the Celestial Transcendent’s words.

But right now, he felt like he held a treasure beyond his stature.

He had no idea how something like this could manifest in reality.

From what he could tell, the crimson crystal held a primordial source of desolate essence within it.

’In that case...’

Davis gulped ever so lightly. He sent his jade-crimson annihilative wind energy into the Desolate Crystal.

The Desolate Crystal lit up, instantly producing negative-white jade desolate wind energy.

*Trrch!~*

Davis’s face instantly got lacerated by multiple cuts, but it wasn’t a major injury as he still controlled his energy ephemerally, injecting in minute amounts. He suddenly stopped and then sent a few more types of energy into it.

Fire, lightning, space.

*Bzzz!~*

An unholy inverted-black flame soared into the skies, crimson inverted-white lightning cracked all over, and purple inverted-crimson space spread above the lake!

Davis was quickly charred by the onslaught of desolate heavenly fire and desolate heavenly lightning, and the desolate heavenly space even put a hole into his right chest, but his devious smile didn’t disappear after it became plastered on his face.

He instantly slapped the Desolate Crystal back into his dantian and reached out his hand towards Fairy Qiyra Darkstar.

”Give me my life rings. I need to cultivate my Essence Gathering Cultivation right now!”

”...???”

Fairy Qiyra Darkstar looked at him become crazed after testing that strange crimson crystal that produced terrifying energies that felt similar to the desolate air.

She wordlessly but hesitantly threw his life rings to him, allowing Davis to bring out the desolate heavenly lightning wisps he had plundered in his tribulation.
