Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5223: Refining Desolate Heavenly Factors

Davis caught his life rings.

There were as many as four of them, each one designated for serving a purpose.

One was a prison, another a garden, another a shelter, and another for miscellaneous or dangerous stuff. He took the life ring that possessed dangerous items and brought out desolate heavenly lightning wisps he had refined back in his tribulation.

Due to being encompassed in life energy and his own karmic energy, they haven’t dissipated yet, just like Zenova’s primal yin essence, which appeared like a gold-scarlet sphere residing over the inner world core’s like it had been anchored, radiating a tremendous might.

It hadn’t disappeared even after his fleshly body was destroyed.

Since he knew he was going to die, he had already tied it to his Chaotic Genesis Physique by nurturing it karmically using karmic threads to pin it down.

The Chaotic Genesis Physique had never failed him in keeping it.

Just the sight of it still existing within his dantian made him feel like he hadn’t let down Zenova.

He had also tried to nurture it to grow alongside him, but that had failed.

Because of that, it could no longer help him increase his cultivation base because he had become way stronger, but it certainly was capable of helping him keep the desolate energies in check while he refined them.

The desolate heavenly wisps surrounded him like world-ending lightning, each one barely holding itself from crackling and reacting in a berserk manner because of the life-karmic energy keeping them tame. Their crimson negative-white lightning arcs carried a barren hunger that sought to erase rather than merely destroy, a force that stripped vitality and karmic presence from the air itself, leaving only hollow silence in its wake.

While ordinary heavenly lightning still retained a trace of life-tempering spark, these wisps radiated pure desolation, an emptiness that rejected growth, continuity, and memory of existence as though they could erase something without a trace.

The arcs twisted with inverted polarity, their light not illuminating but devouring brightness, turning the space around Davis into a void of muted crimson that felt older than the formation of stars.

Davis guided them inward without hesitation.

The gold-scarlet sphere anchored over his black-crimson inner world core pulsed once. Zenova’s primal yin essence spread like warm molten silk across the incoming storm. While the desolate heavenly lightning should have torn through his meridians and scorched his essence foundation into ash, the sphere intercepted every strand, wrapping the inverted arcs in layers of gold-scarlet light that forced the barren energy to submit.

This made the refinement process smooth as butter.

Davis didn’t experience any pain at all. Zenova’s primal yin, full of divine firestorm, allowed him to make the refined desolate heavenly lightning surrender.

Strand by strand, the wisps sank into the black-crimson core, their inverted brilliance fading into the depths where they settled like dormant seeds of catastrophe.

He did not stop there.

The crimson desolate crystal rested between his palms.

Davis fed it a controlled stream of his essence energy, then layered pure flame and pure wind intent atop it.

The crystal answered with a low, resonant thrum.

Negative-white jade desolate wind erupted first, a gale that carried the same barren hunger as the lightning, but stripped moisture and heat from the air until the surrounding mist of the heavenly life lake recoiled. Next came the unholy inverted-black flame, rising in slow coils that burned without warmth, consuming matter but also the very concept of vitality.

The two forces twisted together under his energy and Will, becoming desolate heavenly flame and desolate heavenly wind that howled in perfect, lethal harmony.

Instantly, he used chaos-life energy to encompass them and refine them just like he did for desolate heavenly spacetime energy.

He managed to refine the wild desolate heavenly flame and wind into wisps. They had little Heavenly Will compared to what appeared in tribulations, so they were easier to refine with chaos-life energy.

After refining a whole batch of them, he quickly drew them alongside the remaining desolate heavenly lightning.

The Tempestuous Firestorm Obliteration Physique that once roared with living storm and flame began to change. Its raging currents inverted, the heat turning cold, the wind turning hollow. Crimson-black currents replaced the former brilliance, and the physique’s core signature shifted into something far more ruthless.

Within his dantian, the black-crimson inner world core shuddered. Negative-light flashes began to pulse across its surface, brief inverted sparks of white and black that flickered like dying stars against the crimson expanse. Each flash left a deeper imprint of desolation, etching new patterns into the core’s foundation. The manifestations of the twelve Paragon Magical Beasts, especially the dragon and the kirin, kept roaring across the vast inner world.

The gold-scarlet sphere continued its quiet work, ensuring the process never once threatened to overwhelm Davis. However, they didn’t last long as they quickly settled into the inner world core along with the other energies.

The moment Zenova’s primal yin essence finished its work, pain hit Davis right in his abdomen, but it wasn’t unbearable.

As a being who could endure attacks from a Level Nine Exalt, he was already strong.

’This... this could work...!’

Davis saw that his Tempestuous Firestorm Obliteration Physique was continuously changing without hitting a bottleneck. All three energies of desolate heavenly factors were compatible with his physique. They overflowed and began tempering his meridians and bones.

Since they were already chaos-tempered, they were able to take the tempering without much difficulty.

He knew his physique was going to complete the transformation without encountering much difficulty, making him feel incredibly joyous. At the same time, he got a bit greedier when everything went this smooth.

He started thinking about the desolate heavenly spacetime energy stored within the life ring, wondering if he could infuse it. However, he neither knew what kind of energy it would birth nor simply cause him to explode like the time he had initially spent creating the Tempestuous Firestorm Obliteration Physique with the help of three of his wives he had traumatized.

But exploding wasn’t in his worry since the heavenly life lake was just under his feet.

He could just reform, making it the optimal location for him to breakthrough, but unfortunately, he truly had no idea what contrived the fusion of desolate heavenly spacetime into desolate heavenly obliteration, and what kind of path it would cause him to take.

It wasn’t included in his plans.

Practicing Time Laws was banned from what he heard from the Twelve-Winged Seraphim Ancestor, and second to it would be none other than Spacetime Laws with less restriction than the first. People did practice Spacetime Laws, so he knew it was practicable to a degree.

However, he had never seen someone practice Desolate Heavenly Spacetime. The order of karmic burden was of a far greater magnitude. After all, refining desolate heavenly spacetime actually brought down the Desolate Heavenly Death Tribulation.

It could get him in real trouble or instantly put him back to being a Desolate Divergent. Perhaps, Heaven’s Will might even come back and reverse the Golden Era and pin the blame on him without even having to try.

’If I introduced desolate heavenly spacetime at this point, the physique’s improvement would surely fail, and if I succeeded luckily, it would bring me endless troubles...’

Davis didn’t think for long as he decided to not fuse desolate heavenly spacetime.

Not only did he now know how this kind of fusion worked, but he wouldn’t know how to use it either, just like he was initially unable to use obliteration energy. He would be flying blindly until he could reach a level where he would become capable of using it. Until then, he could only suffer the consequences, which wasn’t on his list of ideas to do before he got sealed.
