Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5210: Heavenly Life Tribulation

Unexpectedly, he had obtained the white stone, a replica twin of the black-white stone.

Since the Ghost Tear Hall’s Founder also originated from the First Haven World, he had obtained the other half of the black-white stone, which turned out to be the white stone.

Initially, the black-white stone looked fully obsidian when it was in Rokushi Mirai’s hand. It wasn’t until later that it produced the white surface on the obsidian stone after fusing with his reincarnation soul, allowing it to surge with life energy. Hence, Davis had guessed it was highly likely these two stones were from the same replica.

This white stone replica allowed him to fight beyond his initial expectations, making him want to abandon the plan of dying repeatedly, and for some time, it did help him until his chaotic seed could no longer endure the transformation into Grand Chaos Ghost Body, which was required to evade the terrifying attacks of the Celestial Transcendent.

He had fought well until it collapsed.

But unexpectedly, he had managed to learn Level One Intent of Phyletic Laws of Scythe, suddenly making him realize that his initial plan to reverse the Desolate Era had been a bit lacking, for he understood the foundational insights of the scythe, to reap death and sow life in one swing.

Instantly, it hit him like a revelation!

What if he could not just reverse the Desolate Era but also harvest it by reversing its cycle and bringing the Golden Era?

From the era of death to the era of life, all done in one swing?

As soon as he thought of it and gained a bit of reprieve after being saved by Fairy Qiyra Darkstar for the first time, he said to them.

”But there’s a small caveat.” He said to Fairy Qiyra Darkstar, Jaiyan, and Laphria Rinmei, who were hiding in the void layered with illusions no different from reality.

”You want to change the plan again right now!?” Jaiyan was shocked.

When Fairy Divinacia joined the mission, they had once again gone through their plan, but he want to change the plan this late?

”It isn’t much of a change. We will proceed as planned, but elder sister Laphria will no longer attempt to convince the heavens that I’m sealed. Instead, she will convince the myriad entities of the world that there is no need for the Desolate Era to exist as she tempts every life with the feeling of what it means to have pure heaven and earth energy in the air.”

”Eh? What will that do?” Laphria Rinmei couldn’t understand.

”Trust me. Everyone is sick and tired of breathing the desolate air and impure heaven and earth energy. Everyone will change their minds, including the biggest celestial body that needs to breathe the most.”

”...” Laphria Rinmei still couldn’t understand. Was he talking about the Solar Reverence?

However, she couldn’t be bothered to think anymore. Since Davis decided this was the best course of action while proving himself worthy of being followed as he fought the Celestial Transcendent in close combat and even caused one of his avatars to be sealed, she didn’t hesitate anymore and nodded.

”Alright, I will do as little brother says.”

”Use as much as energy as possible without affecting Jaiyan’s offensive.”

”Understood!~” Laphria Rinmei giggled, ”But this change... how is this small...?”

It wasn’t only her voice, but the others’ voices also echoed after he informed them of the next steps to take.

If they couldn’t convince the heavens that Davis was sealed, how was the Desolate Era going to end?

”...” Davis blinked.

For confidential reasons, he couldn’t explain, since he knew Heaven’s Will was directly above them. If he explained, his fate-changing ability might not work!

He knew for a fact that everyone is sick breathing desolate air, but the one who would be the sickest would be none other than the Universe! The body that contained all living beings and energy!

Eventually, he tore through the source of the Desolate Era with the Cycle of Harvest Technique that carried his insights to reap and sow, change the eras as though they were seasons, but not without the help of the Universe that followed him suit and even somehow rewarded him...?

’What’s going on...?’

Davis looked at the skies at the purple-gold vortex and the golden-veined dragons, his mind not catching up. Were they tribulation lightning strikes? Was this some kind of punishment tribulation? At this moment, he felt very faint, even as a ghost, as though a mere breeze would scatter him.

He could tell that the fate-changing ability had taken a great toll, making him wonder if the consequence was that he needed to be the sacrifice that was required to flip the Desolate Era into the Golden Era.

’In that case, I guess it makes sense...’ Davis laughed dryly, his crazed smile finally fading.

Since he achieved his goal, he wanted nothing more than to rest for a few minutes. He supposed Fairy Qiyra Darkstar and the others would help Evelynn escape. As for himself, it seemed like there was nothing more to do other than get struck by punishment lightning and survive or get sealed.

He had neared his limit with that last move that ended up using most of his psyche and Will. Now all he wanted to do was wait for the punishment lightning to hit and revive to have a second wind for like the seventh time.

He supposed he was using Fallen Heaven might be a valid strategy, but he wasn’t going to use it right here when he had finally made the world a better place.

He had finally ended the Desolate Era. Using Fallen Heaven might just bring that back!

’Heaven’s Warriors, do you see that bullshit? How are you going to run your propaganda now? A Divergent changed the world for the better...’

Davis couldn’t even laugh as he closed his eyes, as he felt himself sinking into the endless abyss, barely away from losing consciousness. He expected the Celestial Transcendent to capture him anytime now. He didn’t expect others to save him since his instructions for them were to flee upon success or failure, while he remained to hold them back.

*Fsssh~*

Abruptly, he felt himself fall into a lake. It was soothing and warm.

Strangely, the more time he spent in it, the more he felt rejuvenated.

”...!”

Davis’s eyes shot wide open.

He thrashed in the lake before surfacing, moving his blonde hair away with a flip as he looked around.

’This...’

Instantly, he discovered that he was in a lake full of life energy, reminding him of the time when he enjoyed a lake of life with Myria.

’This is... heavenly life!’

But the shock was even more extreme when he noticed the heavenly aspect behind the lake. At the same time, he noticed that his body had returned, and he was naked.

”Wha-”

Davis immediately conjured a shorts using martial energy.

Wait? Martial energy!?

He looked at his palms and even his dantians, wondering when his body was restored to its full glory as he had all his martial and essence energy back. How and when did the Shattered Soul Rebirth’s second phase activate!?

Did he die and revive, or did this life energy help him restore his body?

Nonetheless, he could feel his Everlasting Tribunal Samsara Physique drinking the lake like it was a giant elephant sucking in the water with its trunk. His soul kept rejuvenating, all kinds of weakness and tiredness fading away. In fact, he could feel it being rapidly strengthened.

He was in for a breakthrough to the Level Five Empyrean Stage in a few minutes!

However, even with the speed of absorption, there was so much energy that he literally felt like he couldn’t absorb all of it, even in an hour. It was literally a huge sea of Peak Exalt Grade heavenly life energy.

Then- it finally hit him as he looked at the skies once again, recognizing the purple-white clouds from the Heavenly Water Tribulation. However, this one seemed to be unique since the entire sky was purple-white with the center being a purple-gold vortex.

This wasn’t a punishment tribulation but a standalone karmic virtue tribulation?

Davis was thoroughly gobsmacked. He had seen heavenly flames fall individually, but this was the first time he was experiencing a standalone tribulation that healed him and strengthened him!

’The heavens- no, universe acknowledged I saved tens and perhaps hundreds quadrillions?’

Davis felt complicated. Why? For what reason?

He did concoct this plan at the last minute, thinking the Universe couldn’t stand to be sick, but since the Heaven’s Will, the Universe’s ’soul’ was targeting him, shouldn’t it also cooperate after getting what it wants?

Why was it making a Desolate Divergent stronger and helping him out?

There were a lot of conspiracy theories resurfacing in his mind, as if Heaven’s Will was something foreign to begin with, but if that was the case, there was no need for a respectable person like the Celestial Transcendent to hold such allegiance to it. He felt either that the Celestial Transcendent didn’t know or that Heaven’s Will had been corrupted secretly.

’The Primeval Universe Ruins...?’ Davis narrowed his eyes.

But was that even possible? It was rumored that the Celestial Transcendent had saved the world at that time, and hence, the heavens granted him a wish, allowing all the races to coexist better.

Moreover, the Twelve-Winged Seraphim Ancestor didn’t look worried at all, even though he sounded like a protector for this universe. This should mean the Heavens of the Three-Layered Universe weren’t harmed at all, right?

All this only made him think that the Universe was like a warm mother and the Heavens a cold father in the way they do things.

Davis suddenly wondered if he had manipulated the Universe or the Universe had manipulated him into doing this, and hence rewarded him.

He felt like he would never know.

”Hoho, aren’t you swimming in the most comfortable pool right now without a single care in the world?”

Davis looked up, causing his expression to churn.

The Celestial Transcendent was here!

*Whoosh!~* *Whoosh!~* *Whoosh!~*

Fairy Qiyra Darkstar, Jaiyan, and Laphria Rinmei all appeared in the air, their expressions taut. The latter two were still gravely injured. Fairy Divinacia was nowhere to be seen, perhaps still hidden in Laphria’s illusions. Only Fairy Qiyra Darkstar was capable of fighting.

”You all-!”

Davis clenched his teeth, his expression turning unsightly. Why hadn’t they abandoned him and escaped!?
