Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5209: Circumstances Change

”Alright, let’s leave this part of the mission and move on to reversing the Desolate Era. How do you suppose your plan will work?” Jaiyan asked.

”That’s as your wife initially guessed.”

”...” Laphria Rinmei could only blush while Jaiyan still looked worried. He was fine with doing such a bold adventure, but not when Laphria was also in it.

He gazed at Davis solemnly as though suggesting to him that if he couldn’t give a solid plan, then he would refuse on the spot.

”My plan to reverse the Desolate Era is to fool the heavens by making the Heavens or the entire universe think that I am sealed. For this, I need Fairy Qiyra Darkstar’s help as initially discussed. The Celestial Transcendent or other forces will most likely succeed in sealing me, but I will give Fairy Qiyra Darkstar twelve of my soul essences beforehand so she can swap those essences with my truesoul using her spatial-twilight technique.”

”...?” Fairy Qiyra Darkstar raised one of her brows at him.

What did he mean by the spatial-twilight technique? There were a lot of uses with that kind of combination, but switching soul essences with a truesoul? Was that even possible? She had never tried that before, although she did have experience making death a false outcome, returning the deceased to the living, even without having to resort to using a resurrection technique, although there were certain restrictions.

”Assuming what you said was true, is that also your plan for us to retreat?”

”Yes, I would hold the position, kill an ungodly amount of experts, eventually get sealed by being overwhelmed, or be instakilled by the Celestial Transcendent, while you all make your escape. When I am in danger or enough time has passed, just switch my souls. I won’t resist. This should cause them to be so angry that they would pull out their hair and spit blood in fury.”

”You seem to think that my replica will work in your favor?” Fairy Qiyra Darkstar narrowed her brows.

She didn’t like to rely on treasures.

Davis smirked, ”Yes, even if your replica hasn’t recovered in time, it doesn’t matter. The Heaven’s Warriors know it allowed you to fight above the layer limit. Just bringing it out alone would be enough for people or even the Celestial Transcendent to stay their hands as we get a few seconds of reprieve, enough for me to continue.”

”...”

”Getting back to it,” Davis turned to look at Jaiyan, ”You will attack the desolate source with your Heaven-Severing Tongue, weakening the Heaven’s Will. We all know you can sever the influence of the heavens, so this would work for sure, but the question is by how much. That’s where elder sister Laphria comes in. As long as she could impose a false reality that I’m sealed or take advantage of the time that I’m sealed to convince the heavens that I’m fully sealed by starting to release a massive amount of heaven and earth energy, it would cause the Heaven’s Will to weaken by itself. Then, with your attack, it will more than likely shatter. Finally, Fairy Qiyra Darkstar will shift me from the seal if I end up being sealed, and I will make my move to reverse the Desolate Era by imposing my Will on the source to shatter it!”

”...”

Jaiyan and the others stared at Davis.

This plan sounded like a dream rather than a realistic proposition.

But in theory, it sounded apt to them. As long as everything went as he said it would, then it wouldn’t be a problem, but would the universe really watch them Divergents play around?

”...” Davis saw that they weren’t convinced.

He spent two long hours trying to convince them until they agreed to go with him.

After all, he said that they didn’t need to stick with him until the end and could abandon him, but most importantly convinced that-

”I know, being safe and sticking out of trouble is the utmost aspect you’re looking out for according to the teachings of Saintess Lunaria and I truly respect it since that is also my stance, but if you don’t do something about the Desolate Era, our growth will stagnate heavily and it will only be a matter of time before we’re found and get wiped out in a karmic warfare, much less the other Greater Realm Rulers who could arrive from the Galaxy Wormhole.”

Davis raised his hands over his chin and said coldly, ”I won’t wait for that long to see what happens. I will make my move now, even without any of your help, or get sealed trying.”

”...”

”If you seniors decide to wait it out, I guess I will have to be careful of the day when you all strung me and hand me over to the Celestial Transcendent to get rid of the Desolate Era that will impede your cultivations from rising.”

”Nonsense.” The Frostcloud Sword Empress berated him, her brows narrowing, looking offended.

Jaiyan chuckled, ”Little brother, your provocation is quite effective if you make us seem like cowards.”

”Too arrogant, and do you trust us or what? If you don’t trust me, why are you giving me your soul essences?” Fairy Qiyra Darkstar asked coldly.

Davis straightened his back and placed his hand on his chest, ”I only trust Fairy Qiyra Darkstar to have my back, and the first backstabber will be Jaiyan since he would care more about his budding wife than me, his little brother.”

”You-” Jaiyan’s expression churned as he pointed at Davis, ”Don’t you also care about your first wife more than anyone else!?”

”Yes.” Davis unapologetically answered, ”As such, senior brother Jaiyan will be the first one to betray me. Married men cannot be trusted!”

”Pfft~” Laphria Rinmei couldn’t help but laugh.

Jaiyan’s jaw dropped, wanting to hit Davis. Wasn’t Davis also a married man? How could they trust him during this plan? What kind of shameless declaration was this?

”That’s why- didn’t I leave Evelynn in the Frostcloud Sword Empress’s care while I go rampage?” Davis said smugly, ”So, are you all willing to join me in this suicide mission?”

The room went silent.

Even if they agreed with his plan, accepting it was another thing altogether.

Fairy Qiyra Darkstar heaved a breath, ”We cannot guarantee her safety. If your first wife refuses to come and threatens us with the Hell Poison Gem’s replica, I will have no choice but to cut off her arm, knock her out, and take her away. Are you fine with that?”

Davis’s brows flickered, ”My Evelynn can be unexpectedly stubborn and willful. As long as her life and dignity are protected, you can use any means necessary to bring her back.”

”...”

”I am also aware that circumstances change rapidly, and we will have to adapt and modify our plans. For example, if Saintess Lunaria is captured, I’m sure you all won’t hesitate to hand me over for her exchange. At that time, for this help, I promise I won’t hold it all against you. However, if you exchange Evelynn with them for Saintess Lunaria, I promise I won’t let any of you go. That’s how important Evelynn is to me. In another perspective, you aren’t protecting her but literally holding my weakness.”

He continued before gazing at them with a solemn expression, ”That’s how much I trust you all. You are all friends whom I would put myself in jeopardy to save.”

”...”

Laphria Rinmei nearly teared up while Jaiyan looked a bit moved. Davis had already done so much for them, helping them realize their emotions. How could they not help him?

On the other hand, Frostcloud Sword Empress nodded as though this should be expected from her since this was her disciple’s husband.

Only Fairy Qiyra Darkstar’s gaze quivered.

Not only was he willing to give her his soul essences, but he was also willing to let Evelynn come under their protection, which could all turn out to bite in the back.

All he said about them was true! If something happened to Saintess Lunaria, they would focus on her first. So why was he trusting her so much?

She didn’t even know if she was angry for this stupid move or moved beyond compare.

Fairy Qiyra Darkstar simply disappeared from the space as she left. After that, the others also said that they would give their answer within two days and left.

Two days later, they convened a meeting again, with them agreeing to his plan.

Davis barely stopped himself from smirking.

Although it couldn’t be said that he manipulated them into coming with him to this suicide mission with a high death rate, he felt like he basically won them over with an emotional strategy rather than a logical one. He didn’t blame himself since he didn’t think these disciples would come, even if the plan was sound and easy!

The stakes were simply too high!

It wouldn’t be until later that he found himself with the plan to reverse the Desolate Era going all awry that he had to modify the plan.
