Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 292: Chapter 291: Tension to Suffocation

”Teacher, do you not believe my report?” Song Yueqin became anxious, sweat rolling down her forehead like rain.

”Isn’t this under investigation?” the proctor from yesterday said.

”Teacher, how exactly is this being investigated?” Song Yueqin asked worriedly, ”Do you think I am lying?”

An Hao looked at the panic and worry etched across Song Yueqin’s face and curled her lips slightly, ”Believe you? On what grounds should we believe you? If you want the teachers to believe you, then present some evidence!”

”Didn’t the chief examiner see everything yesterday? Isn’t catching someone red-handed enough?”

”Sometimes what the eyes see is not necessarily the truth, right? Since the teacher has said there will be an investigation, there must be decisive evidence,” An Hao said, staring intently into her eyes, ”If you truly haven’t lied, why are you so nervous? Let’s wait for the result together.”

”Now that everyone is here, let’s not waste too much time, hurry up and open the examination papers for inspection,” the leader from the Education Bureau said.

”Okay.”

The chief examiner who participated in proctoring yesterday found the examination papers for that session and opened them in front of everyone to check the results.

Song Yueqin started off confused, not really understanding what the teachers were checking for.

An Hao watched her nervously twisting her clothing with unconscious fingers and suddenly felt a surge of satisfaction.

She thought it would be somewhat unfair not to let her experience what it’s like to feel suffocatingly anxious.

”Song Yueqin, did you know? The answers on the cheat sheet you slipped into my pocket yesterday were wrong. Do you know what the teachers are looking for? They’re searching for your mistakes,” An Hao said, the corners of her lips tilted up in a gentle smile.

Song Yueqin, initially unclear, felt her heart rate speed up dramatically when she heard An Hao’s words, so fast that her breathing seemed to become urgent.

Her face turned pale, and her limbs began to shake uncontrollably.

”You know, by making this decision to destroy me, you’re very unfortunate because there’s a saying that goes, ’The harm we do to others often backfires on us.’ Just wait, the punishment won’t be light; it will only be heavy! I want to see how you swallow this bitter pill.”

An Hao’s words exerted immense pressure on Song Yueqin, who was so afraid and worried she felt near death, when the verification of the examination papers was completed.

”This is a complete frame-up!” the chief examiner spoke up, ”If the leaders don’t believe it, they can look at the content of the papers. All of An Hao’s answers are correct, but Song Yueqin’s answers are exactly like the wrong ones on the note.”

The exam papers were circulated among the leaders, and it was indeed the case.

”So, according to our examination discipline, how should she be punished?” the leader asked.

”Annul the scores, cancel the examination qualification,” the chief examiner said.

Song Yueqin’s mind exploded with a buzz, tears streaming down uncontrollably, ”Teacher... you can’t punish me. Anyone could make that mistake; it’s just a coincidence.”

Seeing her not giving up until reaching a dead end, the chief examiner became very angry with this student who had tried to frame her classmate, ”If it were just the wrong answer, maybe it’s a coincidence, but even the handwriting is the same and mistaken in the exact same way. Is that also a coincidence?”

Song Yueqin was immediately dumbfounded, she had been too nervous while copying, to the point that her brain had practically stopped working, copying whatever was written!

”This student, your behavior is deplorable. There’s a big problem with your character!” the leader in charge of education said angrily, ”Under these circumstances, it’s enough to say you have violated the law.”
