Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 253: Chapter 251: The Leader Visits the Sick

Provincial People’s Hospital.

Qin Jian slowly came to from unconsciousness and opened his eyes to see Chief Zhang and two leaders he had not met before standing in the hospital room.

However, one glance was enough to tell that the visitors were of significant status, certainly high-ranking leaders from the city.

He wanted to sit up and greet the leaders, but felt a wave of dizziness and weakness in his limbs, and a churning nausea in his stomach. Qin Jian frowned and could only lie on the hospital bed to greet them, ”Chief Zhang, distinguished leaders, hello!”

The leaders gestured for him not to move, and Chief Zhang leaned in and said to Qin Jian, ”The two leaders standing before you—one is our provincial leader Comrade Ning Yibin. The other is Comrade Liang Tianzuo from the city, who is also Liang Manman’s father. You’ve really made an impression, this incident has caused quite a stir, attracting such important figures to visit you.”

Qin Jian’s lips twitched slightly, revealing a faint smile, ”Thank you for your concern, leaders! May I know the extent of the damage to the collective property this time?”

Chief Zhang laughed heartily and said to the two leaders behind him, ”You see, he’s the most talented person under my supervision, and my favorite one too! The first thing he does upon waking is not to check on his own health but to worry about the collective’s property.”

”We’re well aware of Qin’s reputation,” Liang Tianzuo said with a smile. ”At home, all I hear is Manman’s chatter! I’m often not at home, but whenever I am, it’s stories about you that Manman tells me.”

”Thank you for your high regard, leader,” Qin Jian said, licking his dry lips.

Compared to them, Ning Yibin spoke much less, but his sharp, weathered eyes never stopped examining Qin Jian.

He scrutinized Qin Jian carefully, just as his wife Zhang Yun had said—his appearance really did resemble a younger version of himself.

His wife had always said that she felt Qin Jian was more like him than their own son Ning Bo, even suspecting that they might have had twins at birth and someone took one by mistake.

The loss of their son in old age dealt a huge blow to his wife, who had been submerged in sorrow and unable to come out of it for the past two years. However, after seeing Qin Jian, it seemed as if her life had found new meaning.

In these days, he had used his authority to check Qin Jian’s household registration information and birthplace and confirmed that he really had no connection to their family.

Seeing Qin Jian also gave him a feeling of inexplicable familiarity, a natural inclination to get closer, perhaps because Qin Jian very much reminded him of himself.

Ning Yibin was on the verge of departure, listening to Liang Tianzuo saying, ”Their actions this time are very outstanding, one could say they’ve caused a national sensation. The newspapers have been filled with their stories these past few days! Leader, do you think we should give them encouragement and rewards for this kind of behavior?”

”Hmm,” Ning Yibin nodded, ”that is necessary. As for the specific method of awarding, go back and discuss it thoroughly before approving. We should call on everyone to learn from them.”

”Right! With your word, we can implement the work!” In fact, Liang Tianzuo had the full authority to make the decision, but with a higher-ranking leader present, he naturally had to ask for guidance first.

This incident had caused such a stir that the head of the research institute personally awarded them, and there was even a cash reward.
