Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 266: Chapter 264 Joint Acting

One needle after another pierced through, and Bai Xue howled in pain.

Some people are born with a propensity for trouble, and if they aren’t disciplined, they itch for it!

This time, An Hao made up her mind to make sure Bai Xue would never dare to mess with her or plot against her again!

Bai Xue begged for mercy repeatedly, starting to plead with An Hao, ”An Hao, I beg you! Stop, please stop stabbing me...”

While she was pleading, Madam Liu the spiritual medium finally rushed over. Seeing what was happening, she hurriedly yelled, ”Stop it, all of you! What are you doing?”

”A ghost has possessed her. We are exorcising it!” An Hao said, looking at Madam Liu.

Apparently, this was the same medium who last time had conspired with Zhang Juyun and her daughter to dump manure at her doorstep, the ill-intentioned old lady who must have taken quite a sum of money from Bai Xue to collude in scamming people.

Madam Liu had no idea the extent of the commotion in the courtyard and was still planning to play along with Bai Xue as per their original scheme.

She pretended to understand and nodded, saying, ”Yes! She is indeed possessed by a ghost, but not to worry, I will perform the exorcism.”

As soon as she mentioned exorcising the ghost, people scattered around Bai Xue to watch the spectacle.

An Hao didn’t interfere, for she wanted to see what these two were up to, what sort of trickery they were peddling.

Madam Liu began her fake spiritual antics, taking out several talismans from her bag to stick on Bai Xue, then holding a peach wood sword in one hand and a bell in the other, she started her ritual with incantations.

An Hao couldn’t make out a word she was saying.

But she saw it was quite the performance, only catching Madam Liu’s final shout, ”Evil spirits and demons, scatter at once!”

No sooner had she finished speaking than Bai Xue began to convulse again.

After about ten minutes of this charade, Madam Liu shook her head and declared, ”This ghost bears a heavy grudge. It seems I need to summon a deity.”

That led to yet another round of frenzy.

Bai Xue was supposedly possessed by a ghost, and now Madam Liu claimed to be possessed by an immortal.

That really livened things up. Madam Liu, sitting on the ground with her legs folded like a lotus, chanted, ”I have opened my celestial eye and seen the little specter. Disperse quickly! Otherwise, I, the immortal maiden, will scatter your soul and you will never find peace in eternity!”

After her convulsions, Bai Xue suddenly opened her eyes, feigning confusion, ”What happened to me? How did I end up at An Hao’s house? What is everyone doing?”

An Hao watched the two stage their act with a cold sneer, restraining herself to see what else Madam Liu would come up with.

True to form, Madam Liu declared, ”A ghost has possessed you.”

She pointed at An Hao and said, ”Your girl? Her fate is poor, a calamitous lone star. She’s destined to end her life in solitude. No children to her fate, she will bring misfortune to both her spouse and parents. Sibling rivalry will lead to enmity, and she will live a life of wandering and loss.”

”Ah, that’s a truly unfortunate fate.”

”Indeed. Just look at the life the An family leads.”

The villagers, with their backward and superstitious minds, upon hearing the medium’s words, immediately felt An Hao’s family’s misfortunes were brought about by her.

Li Junping was drenched in cold sweat upon hearing this. What were they to do? Qin Jian was insistently fixated on the girl. Could they even continue to live a decent life at home after this?

As she pondered this, she suddenly heard Bai Xue asking, ”Isn’t there any way to break this curse?”

Madam Liu shook her head, ”No, that’s impossible.”

”Then what are we to do?” Bai Xue continued to steer the conversation with Madam Liu.

Madam Liu, feigning profundity, replied, ”It would require someone with an incredibly auspicious fate to suppress her. This person would have to be born on February 29th, a year younger than her. Their destiny is extraordinarily promising, bringing prosperity to their spouse and wealth to the family, as well as dispelling evil influences.”

Bai Xue rejoiced, ”Yes, yes! My Yanjiao! The birth date you examined last time, that’s my Yanjiao’s birthday!”

”Right,” Madam Liu covertly opened her eyes and glanced at Li Junping, ”If she were to marry someone born on August 6th, around ten in the morning, the two families will certainly become wealthy and influential! The man’s career will soar, and the household will prosper in all respects!”
