Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 287: Chapter 286: Can’t Conclude Like This

An Hao hadn’t expected Song Yueqin to be so vicious as to aim a fatal blow at her during the examination. An Hao’s heartbeat quickened, but she reminded herself that she must remain calm.

She must not panic!

”Teacher, this handwriting isn’t mine!” She unfolded the cheat sheet and glanced at it, then brought it close to the proctoring teacher, ”Song Yueqin sits behind me, and my pocket was open. Who can guarantee that this slip of paper isn’t hers? That she didn’t frame me by putting it into my pocket?”

”This slip of paper isn’t mine. Don’t believe me? Look at my handwriting,” Song Yueqin said after glancing at the slip.

The handwriting was her mother’s, Zhang Juyun’s, and because it was different, she dared to take the risk.

Even if An Hao could clarify matters, there was no evidence to show that this slip of paper belonged to Song Yueqin.

In other words, if An Hao couldn’t prove her innocence, then she should prepare for her scores to be invalidated. It might mean that university would be out of her reach.

If she found a way to prove she hadn’t cheated and the teacher believed her, it would mean An Hao was incredibly lucky.

Since the handwriting wasn’t hers and the proctoring teacher couldn’t prove the cheat sheet belonged to Song Yueqin,

Regardless of the outcome, Song Yueqin wouldn’t be affected in any way.

The proctoring teachers compared the handwriting seriously and confirmed it was neither An Hao’s nor Song Yueqin’s.

But the slip of paper had been found in An Hao’s pocket, implicating her beyond a doubt.

”Student, since the slip of paper was in your pocket, even if you didn’t cheat, you still have the motive and suspicion. The consequences of such an incident are severe. We must report this!” The three proctoring teachers discussed amongst themselves and couldn’t make a judgment on the spot.

Seeing the situation worsening, An Hao felt a heavy sinking feeling in her heart.

She appeared calm on the surface, but she was actually starting to worry. Her entire focus had been on her exam paper, and she couldn’t have imagined such an unexpected incident occurring.

”Wait, teacher! Please give me some time, let me think a bit. I can find evidence to prove that this slip of paper isn’t mine.”

”The slip of paper was in your pocket, student! How can you prove otherwise? Whether you copied or not, there’s motive and suspicion. Do you understand?” the chief examiner said righteously.

Outside the classroom, the leader in charge of the invigilation noticed that the papers from this classroom hadn’t been sealed in the archive bag yet, so he knocked on the door to hurry them along: ”Please be quick with this classroom, everyone is waiting for you.”

The chief examiner went over to report the situation to the leader truthfully: ”A student reported that An Hao had cheated. Now, we have found a cheat sheet in her pocket, but we cannot ascertain whether she has actually cheated.”

”Having a cheat sheet is grounds for suspicion. We cannot be lenient with cheating on exams!”

The chief examiner said with some difficulty: ”But the student herself does not admit to it!”

After all, this was the college entrance examination, a critical turning point in one’s life! For every student, it was like being on a bloodless battlefield replete with actual bloodshed!

This matter could not be handled carelessly!

”Have you ever heard of a cheater admitting to their cheating? Let’s put this matter aside for now, and we can discuss it after the exams are over. Make a mark on the exam paper, seal it properly, and then hand it over. The van is waiting outside for us to deliver the papers to the marking center overnight. Move quickly!” To the leader, the more pressing issue was to ensure that the rest of the examination proceeded without issue.

With the leader’s orders given, the chief examiner and the two invigilators hesitated no more and began to seal the exam papers.

An Hao panicked and grabbed the chief examiner’s hand: ”No! You can’t go until this matter is clarified!”

”Student! If you keep making a scene like this, we will report you for disturbing the exam discipline! If it’s deemed serious, your exam qualifications might be canceled!” the chief examiner warned.

”But I didn’t cheat! You can’t just jump to that conclusion! This concerns my whole life!” An Hao became agitated, her voice filled with anger.

”Yes! You can’t be so hasty! Shen Zhihua also came forward, trying to get justice for An Hao.

Every year during the college entrance exams, some unexpected incidents occur.

The chief examiner also felt sympathy for these students; if it was truly not a case of cheating, he didn’t want to be the one to ruin a student’s future. So, he said to An Hao, ”Arguing with us is no use now. If you want to clear your name, you need to speak to our leader.”

”The one from just now?” An Hao asked eagerly.

”Yes.”

Getting the answer she needed, An Hao grabbed her backpack without a second thought and ran out of the classroom like a
