Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 255: Chapter 253: I Support You in This Matter

In that era, due to material scarcity, girls generally didn’t develop very well physically.

However, An Hao, who barely ate anything nutritious each day, yet developed so well, was indeed quite rare.

It could be summed up in one sentence: Plump where she should be plump, slender where she should be slender!

An Hao felt her face heat up under the intense gaze of Qin Jian, and she somewhat shyly twirled in front of him, ”Look, do I look nice?”

”Mm,” Qin Jian nodded, feeling a slight warmth behind his ears.

Though An Hao was only eighteen years old and much younger than Qin Jian, the thoughts he harbored towards her suddenly made him feel as if he were perhaps being a bit too forward.

He reined in his emotions, restraining his desires, and said to An Hao, ”It’s very hot standing here, why don’t you come to my place to sit down?”

An Hao shook her head gently, ”I’d better not go, your aunt doesn’t seem to like me very much.”

Seeing the slight disappointment on her face, a surge of defiance rose in Qin Jian’s heart, ”Don’t mind so much, I will be the one to marry you in the future, not someone else. As long as I’m willing, no one can make decisions for me.”

A smile rippled across An Hao’s lips, ”Commander Qin, I’ll remember your words!”

Qin Jian nodded.

”I heard you fainted. I’ve been anxious for several days at home, and now that I finally see you, I forgot to ask how you are.”

Seeing An Hao’s concern for him, a faint smile appeared on Qin Jian’s lips, ”Much better. I fainted due to exhaustion, and severe dehydration led to shock. I’m much better now.”

”You’re considered a national hero now!” An Hao stood up straight and playfully saluted him, ”I will strive to learn from Comrade Qin Jian.”

Qin Jian stepped forward, his warm hand gently holding hers, his face revealing a rare, radiant smile, ”Little friend An Hao, the salute you gave is the Young Pioneers salute!”

Once Qin Jian pointed it out, An Hao stuck out her tongue in embarrassment, ”Sorry.”

”Moreover, I’ve been commended, and the institute gave me a handsome bonus,” Qin Jian said with a smile. ”When I return, my new research project is going to start!”

If he did well and the research progressed smoothly, bonuses would be handed out regularly. He would be able to support An Hao through college with his salary, so she wouldn’t have to work hard at part-time jobs.

”Really, son?” Li Junping caught up from behind, her eyes lighting up when she heard Qin Jian say this, ”That’s really great, your achievement of such merit...”

She didn’t finish her sentence when her gaze fell on An Hao’s hand held by Qin Jian, and she frowned and coughed lightly.

An Hao suddenly realized the situation and quickly tried to withdraw her hand, but Qin Jian grasped it firmly.

Surprised, she looked up at him. He pursed his lips, his jawline tight as he looked at Li Junping, ”Mom, now that you’ve seen it, I won’t hide it from you anymore. I plan to propose to the An Family after An Hao’s college entrance examination!”

Li Junping was not pleased at hearing this, ”Qin Jian, have you lost your mind?”

”I’m not crazy!” Qin Jian didn’t intend to explain; he simply wanted to state his position and attitude.

Whether Li Junping liked it or not, he would marry An Hao.

Fame and fortune were extrinsic matters. Before meeting An Hao, Qin Jian’s sole ambition was to be dedicated to his work and to achieve something noteworthy.

After meeting An Hao, one more belief was added to his life’s principles: to marry An Hao and bring her home.

Qin Ru Hai, who was always reserved, took a couple of drags of his dry pipe, tapped the ashes on the shoe edge, and said, ”Son, I support you in this!”
