Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 271: Chapter 269 You Can Leave

An Hao was already exhausted and didn’t want to waste any more time here. She turned to leave, but An Shuchao called out to her, ”An Hao, don’t go. Stay and talk to Dad.”

Looking at An Shuchao for a long time, An Hao finally spoke slowly, ”There’s nothing left to talk about. I’ve said everything that needed to be said, and you haven’t believed me about any of it—the past issues, one by one. Dad, I want to tell you something, I am your daughter. If you still think that my worth as your daughter is less than that of Bai Xue, then I won’t make things difficult for you. It just means that we will go our separate ways.”

Seeing his daughter’s terrifyingly calm demeanor, An Shuchao knew that if he chose to keep avoiding the issue, he might lose her forever.

Therefore, he had to take a stand and set an example when it came to Bai Xue.

But seeing Bai Xue’s eyes brimming with tears, his heart softened again. He didn’t know where she and her daughter could go if he sent them away.

An Shuchao was at a loss in an instant.

Watching her father’s changing expressions, An Hao already had an idea of his stance. Disappointed, she said to An Shuchao, ”Mom’s many years of feelings for you, even added to mine and An Ping’s, don’t weigh more than Bai Xue in your heart. Dad, I’m so disappointed in you!”

After speaking, An Hao turned and left.

An Ping, watching his sister’s retreating figure, felt a pain sharp as needles in his heart. He turned angrily to An Shuchao and said, ”Dad, from now on, I’m going to live with my sister. Keep this home for yourselves. I cannot forgive a father who tolerates a stepmother indefinitely, nor can I tolerate our mother, who has been dead for five years, being dragged back out with this nonsense about being possessed! It’s an insult to Mom!”

Without looking back, An Ping followed An Hao and left.

Only Bai Xue and An Shuchao remained at home. Watching the veins on An Shuchao’s forehead throbbing, a suppressed anger seemingly ready to erupt, Bai Xue said cautiously, ”Old An, I know I was wrong. Can’t you give me a chance to make amends? I will definitely treat An Hao and An Ping as my own children...”

She hadn’t finished speaking when there was a sudden loud snap, and a thermos bottle full of hot water shattered at her feet.

Fortunately, she was quick enough to dodge, or her feet might have been ruined.

”Old An, what is this...”

”Treat my kids as if they were your own! Bai Xue, isn’t that what you promised at the beginning? And now? What have you done? Now, it’s okay to assume that An Hao is picking fights with you on purpose, because you’ve been at odds with her since the day you entered this house. But what about An Ping? He was quite fond of you initially, and now it has come to this. What does that tell us? You should never have used my deceased wife’s name in your antics!” An Shuchao rattled off angrily.

”So, what are you planning to do?” Bai Xue asked with tears in her eyes.

Clenching his teeth and glaring at Bai Xue, An Shuchao said, ”You should leave. Take Yanjiao back to your mother’s house. Don’t come back for a while.”

Bai Xue had not expected An Shuchao to actually tell her to leave, ”Old An, you can’t do this to me! You—”

Her words were cut off by a roar from An Shuchao, ”Tell me, what do you want me to do? Divorce you? Are you not going to be happy until you’ve brought this family down? Leave! Pack your things tomorrow and get out! And don’t come back!”
