Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 269: Chapter 267: Awesome Girl

The police officers brought Sister An Hao, her brother, Liu the witch, and Bai Xue Mei to the station to make a record.

After understanding the ins and outs of the matter, they gave the two people a stern lecture.

Liu the witch was involved in financial fraud, and according to the Social Order Management Regulation, she would be detained and fined accordingly.

Bai Xue Mei was criticized and educated for half a day, and from then on, she had to come to the station every morning to study.

After returning to the village, the Secretary called a meeting of the village leadership, admonished the incident where the former Village Chief took the lead in asking Liu the witch to treat Zhang Juyun’s illness, and organized daily study sessions for all the villagers.

They strictly prohibited the recurrence of such acts that promoted feudal superstition.

On the evening of the day the incident happened, Qin Jian heard the news at his quarters and went home that night.

As soon as he walked in, Li Junping was being berated by Qin Ru Hai, ”Don’t listen to that witch’s nonsense. It is exactly because of people like you that she’s been able to swindle money time and again. Let the son decide on his matters. I find that girl An Hao quite suitable. Stop interfering.”

”I... well, alright. You’re the head of the family, whatever you say goes,” sighed Li Junping. She was ultimately not quite satisfied with the future daughter-in-law her son had chosen.

”Mom, Dad is right. I am educated, yet you stubbornly believe in feudal superstitions. I heard about what happened at An Hao’s place this afternoon; it was nothing short of farce,” Qin Jian said as he put the things he had bought aside and casually pulled over a stool to sit down.

Qin Ru Hai’s face, which had been somber, brightened with a smile upon seeing Qin Jian return, ”Your mom is just old-fashioned. About the proposal to the An Family, you don’t need to discuss it with your mom. If you’re satisfied, that’s all that matters.”

”I know. Thanks, Dad!” a faint smile appeared on Qin Jian’s lips.

Li Junping felt uneasy, but as things had come this far, anything she said would be pointless.

She glanced at Qin Jian and muttered, ”Jianzi, do you even know what kind of person An Hao is? That girl is no meek lamb! She’s a tough nut to crack, you didn’t see how she dealt with Bai Xue Mei today... she was ruthless. It sent shivers down my spine.”

”What? You’re afraid she won’t treat you well?” Qin Ru Hai looked at his wife, amused.

”Isn’t it obvious? I always thought the girl was pretty good, but I didn’t expect her to be so formidable,” Li Junping said gloomily.

”Don’t worry, Mom! An Hao isn’t unreasonable. I believe she will treat you well,” Qin Jian was quite looking forward to his future bride.

”I hope so,” Li Junping sighed and glared at Qin Jian, ”Jianzi, let me tell you, we will marry you off, but one thing, you cannot forget your mother after you get a wife!”

Qin Jian’s mouth curled up, ”Mom, do you think I’m that kind of person?”

”I believe Jianzi isn’t!” Qin Ru Hai puffed on his pipe, feeling happier and more delighted as he thought about it, ”It’s really fate. My Jianzi is blessed. Although he’s already thirty, he can marry a young bride! Jianzi, after you get married, you must treat her well.”

”Enough already! We aren’t even married yet, and you’re already this excited. You were not this happy when you married me,” Li Junping glared at her husband accusingly.

”Alright, alright, I’ll stop,” Qin Ru Hai suppressed his smile and asked his son, ”Qin Jian, when do you plan to propose to the An Family? Are you waiting until after An Hao’s college entrance exams? Give us a date so we can talk to the An Family and prepare the betrothal gifts.”

Qin Jian pursed his lips, ”As soon as possible. We can’t wait for this.”
