Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 291: Chapter 290 Cooperation in the Investigation

The examination on the second day proceeded as scheduled, with An Hao setting aside all distractions and focusing earnestly on understanding and answering the questions.

She knew she had nothing to worry about with Qin Jian looking out for her; all she needed to do was concentrate on the exam.

Sitting behind An Hao, Song Yueqin watched as An Hao behaved as if nothing had happened, indeed feeling very perplexed.

However, upon reflection, she felt relieved.

An Hao’s grades for one subject had already been invalidated, and there was no chance for her to be admitted to Medical University, so she might as well try to do well in the remaining subjects.

But what good would it do to perform well? She couldn’t possibly achieve a perfect score anyway.

So, An Hao’s chances of getting into the university were utterly hopeless.

Song Yueqin felt very smug, deeply satisfied with the risk she had taken the day before.

Time quickly passed, and one exam ended. While waiting for the next one, the official in charge of the examinations called An Hao out yesterday.

”An Hao, right?”

The official’s smile seemed much friendlier today than yesterday, ”I didn’t expect you to know so many leaders. The thing is, regarding the cheating incident in yesterday’s exam, after the exams are over, we would like you to cooperate with us for a re-investigation.”

”Okay,” An Hao nodded, ”I’m ready to cooperate at any time.”

”Very good. Now go get ready for your next exam.”

An Hao returned to the classroom, Song Yueqin saw her come in with a relaxed expression on her face.

She was very puzzled but didn’t dare to ask.

When An Hao took her seat, she glanced at Song Yueqin, a mysterious smile at the corner of her mouth—confident as if holding all the cards, yet it seemed to carry mockery and disdain.

Logically, shouldn’t she be angry and resentful upon seeing her?

Why would she smile?

Song Yueqin felt a chill in her heart, vaguely sensing something ominous, yet she dared not ask.

Trepidation filled her throughout that afternoon’s exam.

After the exam was over, as soon as they left the examination hall, the official intercepted both An Hao and Song Yueqin, ”Students, regarding yesterday’s exam cheating incident, our education bureau leaders are taking it very seriously. Now, please come with me so we can investigate and uncover the real truth of the matter.”

Upon hearing this, Song Yueqin panicked, ”Investigation? Wasn’t it established yesterday that she cheated? The evidence is all there, what’s there to investigate?”

”Many students have reported problems with that, and since the students have spoken up, we cannot ignore it. So, please cooperate with the investigation.” After saying this, he gestured for An Hao and Song Yueqin to get into the van headed for the review center.

The exam papers from the past two days were all there; it was easy to start investigating by checking the papers from yesterday’s session.

Upon entering the doorway of the office, Song Yueqin’s legs completely gave out.

Several people were sitting inside, and besides the proctor from their session yesterday, she didn’t recognize anyone; they all seemed to be quite formidable authorities.

”An Hao, do you still have the cheat sheet from yesterday?”

The proctor from yesterday asked.

An Hao nodded, ”I’ve kept it.”

How could she bear to throw away something so critical?

It was the decisive evidence that could turn her fortunes around!

”Good, bring out that cheat sheet. In front of all us education bureau leaders, let’s verify it personally to see who’s really lying!”

Upon the official’s declaration, Song Yueqin, who was already sweating nervously, was so frightened that she nearly fainted.
