Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 272: Chapter 270: Qin Jian Proposes Marriage

Bai Xumei was terrified by An Shuchao’s appearance and didn’t dare to make a sound.

It took a long time before she sobbed and said, ”Fine, I’ll leave tomorrow! Isn’t it enough if I go back to my parents’ house? Just don’t divorce me.”

An Shuchao furrowed his brows and said nothing more.

That night, the two of them separated.

Bai Xumei slept on the kang in Bai Yanjiao’s room, and early the next morning, she packed her things and said goodbye to An Shuchao.

She was quite smart, knowing when to advance and when to retreat.

She hoped that after spending some time away and then returning, she could reconcile with An Shuchao, but she never expected that an incident would occur later, making An Shuchao so furious that he divorced her directly.

...............

After Bai Xumei’s commotion, the whole village knew about Qin Jian and An Hao’s affair.

Some said Qin Jian was an old cow eating young grass.

Others said An Hao was scheming, catching a big tree to climb up on.

But most people were just sour grapes because compared to Qin Jian’s age, it was his job and salary that were more enviable.

Regrettably, all of this now belonged to An Hao.

People expressed their pity and sighed, but in the end, they all envied An Hao.

Three days later, Qin Jian made preparations to propose to the Qin Family but did not inform An Hao about this matter in advance.

It was also considered an unexpected surprise for her.

On the day of the marriage proposal, Qin Jian got up early in the morning.

Qin Jian dressed neatly and was ready to leave the house when he opened the front door, he saw Tian Niu with several people appearing neatly at the doorway: ”Mr. Qin!”

”Today is a rest day. Why are you all dressed so smartly? Are you going to an awards ceremony?” Qin Jian asked them, puzzled.

Tian Niu laughed heartily: ”Mr. Qin, no! We heard you were going to propose to your sister-in-law’s family, and we thought we’d accompany you to make a good impression.”

Qin Jian raised an eyebrow at his subordinates: ”Tell me, which of you has a better-looking face than mine? Going to make a good impression for me? It’d be good enough if you don’t scare people away. Don’t follow the crowd; go do what you need to do!”

It was rare for him to be in such good spirits today; he spoke at length.

”Mr. Qin, this is a big deal! If it weren’t for fear of frightening your sister-in-law’s family, we would have wanted to bring all our colleagues out to help you propose!”

”Nonsense!” Qin Family glared at Tian Niu, ”Why are you everywhere? What does my proposal have to do with you? Why are you joining in the commotion for no reason?”

”Of course it matters! You help us in our lives and mentor us at work. Our relationship is like teacher and student, like friends, and more like brothers!” Tian Niu said loudly.

”Give it a rest! Knowing I treat you all so well, you better hurry back and don’t cause trouble for me here! Their home is small and can’t accommodate all of you!”

His words immediately doused the enthusiasm of the group.

Watching his subordinates become obedient, Qin Jian straightened his clothes, took an envelope from the drawer and tucked it into his bosom, and headed back to the village.

It was his first time proposing, and he was nervous, fearing that he might cause a joke and give those little rascals something to laugh about.

When he arrived at the supply and marketing cooperative, he went in and bought a lot of fruit, luncheon meat, canned goods, and snacks, and strode towards An Hao’s house.

But, he really underestimated Tian Niu’s stubbornness; the young man secretly followed him to An Hao’s house.
