Building a Technological Power Starting with the Type 59 missile and Going Astray in Technological Development

Chapter 36 Is the path so wild?Chapter 36 Is the path so wild?

After hearing the praise from Mr. Lin, Lin Chenran couldn’t help but raise the corners of his mouth slightly.

But he still said modestly: ”Grandpa, you are too kind, this is really nothing to praise!”

“Hahahahahaha…” Upon seeing this, Mr. Lin laughed heartily, his eyes full of admiration for Lin Chenran: “Chenran, you are the pride of our Lin family!”

Lin Chenran waved his hand and said calmly: ”Grandpa, you should talk to my brother!”

”You stinky boy!!!”

Lin Chenran’s elder brother, Lin Xuan, was sent to the army for training by Grandpa Lin.

After joining the army, with his outstanding performance and ”appreciation from the leadership”, he is now the head of a special operations regiment and has a bright future.

After his brother joined the army, Lin Chenran was not sent to the army after graduating from university.

As one of the few highly educated talents in the Lin family.

Mr. Lin let Lin Chenran choose his own path.

Although Lin Chenran did not join the army, he also entered the military-related industry - military industry!!!
When Mr. Lin first learned that Lin Chenran was assigned to be the director of the 077 Mechanical Military Factory, he did not agree with this decision.

In his opinion, placing Lin Chenran in such a high position at the beginning might affect his future career development.

Mr. Lin hopes that Lin Chenran can start as an ordinary technician and gradually accumulate experience and abilities.

However, fate is always full of variables.

Lin Chenran was ”accidentally” chosen by the bigwigs of Yan State’s government and became one of the heads of the first batch of third-line military factories.

Perhaps only the top officials of Yan State know the reasons behind this.

However, Lin Chenran also used his own strength to prove everything to everyone that he did not ”rely” on connections to take the position of director of the 077 Mechanical Arsenal.

Today, the 077 Mechanical Arsenal is thriving under his leadership.

In particular, the launch of the Type 59 civilian engineering vehicle and its subsequent products has made the 077 Machinery Military Factory very successful and invincible in the engineering vehicle market.

What Mr. Lin cares most about is the design and development plan of the second-generation main battle tank of the 077 Mechanical Arsenal.

At that time, three third-tier military factories entered the final round of the Yan State military’s second-generation main battle tank bidding conference.

When Mr. Lin saw the 077 Mechanical Military Factory, he was completely surprised.

Because entering the ”final round” together with the 077 Mechanical Military Factory also included the 617 Mechanical Military Factory headed by Mr. Zhu and the major tank factory - the 625 Mechanical Military Factory.

If it weren’t for the engine problem, the design and development plan of the second-generation main battle tank of the 077 Mechanical Military Factory would most likely be adopted by the Yan State military and become Yan State’s second-generation main battle tank.

In terms of armored defense, the second-generation main battle tank of the 077 Mechanical Arsenal - the modified Type 59 super tank can compete with the third-generation main battle tanks of the United States and the Russians.

Therefore, Mr. Lin couldn’t help but sigh: ”It’s such a pity for your 077 Mechanical Military Factory’s second-generation main battle tanks!”

”Grandpa, there’s nothing to regret.”

”Before solving the ’heart’ of the tank, it is the safest choice for the Yan country military to adopt the second-generation main battle tank solution of the 617 Mechanical Military Factory.”

Lin Chenran answered calmly.

When Mr. Lin saw this, the smile on his face became even brighter.

Then, Lin Chenran continued, ”And our 077 Mechanical Military Factory doesn’t care about the military’s orders.”

After hearing this, Mr. Lin showed astonishment on his face, and then laughed and scolded: ”You kid, you are so arrogant, and you don’t even look down on the military’s order for the second-generation main battle tanks.”

Lin Chenran did not back down because of his grandfather’s rebuke. Instead, he refuted confidently: ”Grandpa, you should be aware of the current situation of our military.”

”The military is short of funds and extremely poor, so every penny has to be carefully calculated, and they would rather break a dollar into two halves to spend.”

”If it weren’t for the great success of the Type 077 modified civilian engineering vehicle developed by our 59 Machinery Military Factory, and the military had taken advantage of our ’ride’.”

”Otherwise, the military might not even have the confidence to hold this second-generation main battle tank bidding conference.” What Lin Chenran said was true. Today, the Yan State military is indeed facing huge pressure on military expenditure.

Giving priority to economic development has resulted in a significant reduction in military spending.

Although a large-scale disarmament policy has been implemented and various unnecessary military expenditures have been significantly cut, it is still difficult to alleviate the financial difficulties.

The Yan State’s military is now stretched to the limit.

Lin Chenran’s words undoubtedly hit the military’s sore spot, causing Old Man Lin to scowl and secretly sigh in his heart that this kid was so merciless in his words.

”Are you drifting away!!!”

Old Master Lin doesn’t mind giving Lin Chenran a ”full-scale fight” to let him know who is the grandfather and who is the grandson.

”No, no, no! Grandpa, I’m just stating the facts.”

Seeing this, Lin Chenran quickly admitted his mistake!
The green hills are still there, so you don’t have to worry about running out of firewood!

After the prank, the two started talking again.

”Military spending will not increase significantly in the next few years”

”The country’s money doesn’t come from the wind. In the next few years, the military will have to tighten its belt.”

Mr. Lin said calmly.

He knew that these efforts were necessary to achieve rapid economic development.

There is only one path left for the Yan State military: endure humiliation and bear heavy burdens!

”Grandpa, you are right. Although the military budget cannot be increased significantly, we still have another way - let many military industrial enterprises participate in the international arms sales market!”

Lin Chenran put forward his own point of view, his eyes firm and confident.

”Although there is a certain gap between our weapons and equipment and those of other major countries, they are practical, easy to operate, and quick to use. More importantly, they are affordable. This makes them an attractive option for countries with limited funds.”

Mr. Lin nodded in agreement, indicating that he agreed with his grandson’s idea.

Although the idea is good, it faces huge challenges in its actual implementation.

A number of Yan State’s military-industrial enterprises lack effective sales channels.

“It’s not easy to find the right buyer.”

Mr. Lin sighed helplessly, a hint of powerlessness in his tone.

”We have relevant channels at the 077 Machinery Arsenal.”

”but……”

Lin Chenran answered confidently.

”You want to let 077 Mechanical Arms Factory be the middleman?”

Mr. Lin sat on the sofa, looking surprised.

”Yes, I plan to let the 077 Mechanical Arms Factory act as a middleman to open up the international arms sales market.”

Old Master Lin widened his eyes, obviously shocked by Lin Chenran’s idea.

Mr. Lin: Damn, are you so wild?

Although Lin Chenran had said before that he would allow the second-generation main battle tanks of the 077 Mechanical Military Factory to be traded on the international arms sales market.

Unexpectedly, Lin Chenran had such a big appetite that he directly let the 077 Mechanical Military Factory act as a middleman to help a number of Yan State military industrial enterprises open up the international arms sales market.
