Building a Technological Power Starting with the Type 59 missile and Going Astray in Technological Development

Chapter 24: Type 59 tank is old and worn out? Don't panic after the magic modificationChapter 24: Type 59 tank is old and worn out? Don’t panic after the magic modification
The second-generation main battle tank of the 077 Mechanical Military Factory was actually a large-scale magical transformation based on the original Type 59.

This makes people wonder, does the 077 Mechanical Military Factory have special feelings for the Type 59?

Knowing that the Type 59 is so outdated, why do they insist on making modifications to it?

Facing the uproar from many military leaders and bosses from the mechanical military factory below the stage, Lin Chenran raised the corners of his mouth slightly, revealing an imperceptible smile.

Of course he knew why these people were so surprised.

Lin Chenran explained calmly: ”Everyone should know that our 077 Mechanical Military Factory does have a certain foundation in the field of tank manufacturing, but in terms of design and research and development, there is still some gap compared with other large tank manufacturers.”

”Therefore, choosing the Type 59 as the basis was a helpless move.”

There was a hint of helplessness in Lin Chenran’s words.

Then, he changed the subject, a mysterious smile appeared on his face, and continued: ”However, everyone should not underestimate the Type 59, although it may be a little behind some of the new tanks now.”

”But the design and development plan of our 077 Machinery Military Factory based on this second-generation main battle tank is not backward at all.”

He paused, and then continued: ”Some people think that the Type 59 is old, worn-out and broken? That’s just because they haven’t seen the magic modification technology of our 077 Mechanical Arsenal.”

His tone was full of confidence and pride, as if he had already seen the future scene of this second-generation main battle tank, which was modified from the Type 59 tank, showing its might on the battlefield.

Upon hearing his words, all the Yan State military leaders and the heads of the other two mechanical military factories nodded, expressing their agreement with his statement.

At present, the design and development plan of the second-generation main battle tank of the 077 Mechanical Military Factory has not yet been fully explained.

It would be too hasty and frivolous to deny the results of their hard work just based on an original drawing!
After seeing everyone’s reactions, Lin Chenran felt a little relieved and continued to introduce to everyone in detail the design and development plan of his own second-generation main battle tank.

First of all, in terms of weapons and equipment, the main weapon of this second-generation main battle tank is a powerful 120mm smoothbore gun that can easily penetrate enemy armor.

Its secondary weapon is a 7.62mm coaxial machine gun, which has powerful close combat suppression capabilities.

In addition, the firing rate of this coaxial machine gun is as high as 350 rounds per minute, the initial velocity reaches an astonishing 865 meters per second, and the effective range is up to 1000 meters.

In terms of weapons and equipment, the second-generation main battle tank of the 077 Mechanical Arsenal is comparable to the firepower design of the first two mechanical arsenals.

In terms of power system, the second-generation main battle tank of the 077 Machinery Military Factory does not use the common domestic diesel engine.
Instead, they use the same four-stroke V-type 72-cylinder V-12 diesel engine as the T46 tank. This engine has a horsepower of up to 760 and is extremely powerful.

If the most powerful 760-horsepower version is not available, the 700-horsepower four-stroke V-12 V-46 diesel engine is also a good choice.

After all, for Yan Country, even the lowest-configuration 700-horsepower V-12-cylinder V-46 diesel engine can meet the needs.

At this moment, Mr. Wei suddenly interrupted Lin Chenran’s explanation.

”A 760-horsepower four-stroke V-12-cylinder V-46 diesel engine, are the Russians willing to sell it? This is the core technology of their T72 tank!”

“Moreover, we are not only buying the diesel engine itself, but also the technology and production line that go with it.”

This is exactly the common idea of many Yan State military leaders.

Indeed, according to the idea of a group of Yan country’s military leaders, not only do they need to purchase engines, but they also have to acquire the corresponding technology and production lines.

Otherwise, like domestic fighter jets, they lack a strong and powerful ”heart” to support them. Lin Chenran said calmly: ”As long as the price is right, the Russian bear should still be willing to sell these backward technologies.”

”After all, the current economic situation in the bear country is not optimistic.”

”Even their own third-generation main battle tanks have abandoned traditional diesel engines and instead adopted 985-horsepower gas turbines modified from aviation gas turbine engines.”

Then he added: ”The second-generation main battle tanks of our 077 Machinery Military Factory can also choose to use domestically produced engines.”

”The overall weight of the second-generation main battle tanks we designed and developed is much lighter than the second-generation main battle tanks of the 617 Machinery Arsenal and the 625 Machinery Arsenal.”

”Equipped with the same type of domestically produced diesel engine, the second-generation main battle tank developed by our 617 Machinery and Military Factory has a much higher driving speed than the second-generation main battle tanks of the other two machinery and military factories.”

It has to be said that the main feature of the 077 Mechanical Military Factory is convenience, practicality and convenience!
Also, the domestically produced tank engines are modeled after those of the Soviet Union, so they are pretty much the same.

The 077 Mechanical Military Factory did not limit its focus to the orders for the second-generation main battle tanks of the Yan State military, but also set its sights on the vast foreign arms sales market.

After hearing this, everyone at the scene suddenly understood.

Originally they thought that the 077 Mechanical Arsenal was just acting impulsively and blindly without a plan, but now it seems that they obviously have more far-reaching considerations and plans.

It turns out there is a ”Plan B”!

At this moment, many thoughts surged in Wei Lao’s mind.

After hearing this, other military leaders also expressed their agreement with Lin Chenran’s statement.

If what Lin Chenran said is true, and Yan Country successfully introduces the advanced 760-horsepower four-stroke V-type 12-cylinder V-46 diesel engine technology and its related production lines from the Bear Country, then it will undoubtedly greatly enhance the overall strength of the Yan Country’s military.

Who doesn’t want to have a more powerful and advanced main battle tank?

Everyone wants it!
According to Lin Chenran’s idea, even if it is impossible to introduce the technology of the Russian 760-horsepower four-stroke V-type 12-cylinder V-46 diesel engine and the related production lines.

They can eventually be exported to other countries.

A piece of cloth on the head, the richest country in the world, Saudi Arabia, would definitely be happy to buy it.

And its other ”big brothers”.

Anyway, the 077 Machinery Military Factory will not lose money.

The Yan State military can request a batch of second-generation main battle tanks equipped with 760-horsepower four-stroke V-12-cylinder V-46 diesel engines.

If the worst happens, we can also replace it with a domestically produced diesel engine. Although it is slightly inferior in power and not as powerful, its firepower and armor remain intact.

”If Russia doesn’t sell the 760-horsepower four-stroke V-12-cylinder V-46 diesel engine, we can also buy the same type of engine from the United States next door.”

Song Xiyun in the audience said indifferently.

The two countries are still in the final stage of their ”honeymoon” period.
