Building a Technological Power Starting with the Type 59 missile and Going Astray in Technological Development

Chapter 17 Finalizing the DesignChapter 17 Finalizing the Design
”Although the research and development project of the 212mm smoothbore gun of the 120 Mechanical Arsenal has stagnated, once our proposal is adopted, their project will be rescued by the military.”

If the Yan country military really wants to equip the new main battle tank with a 120mm smoothbore gun, it will definitely allocate funds to the 212 Mechanical Military Factory to allow them to continue to develop the 120mm smoothbore gun.

In that case, Song Xiyun took out his notebook and made a note on it to replace the original 115mm smoothbore gun with a larger 120mm smoothbore gun.

Although the 212mm smoothbore gun research and development project that the 120 Mechanical Arsenal is responsible for has run into difficulties and has come to a standstill.

However, as long as the design and development plan of the main battle tank provided by their 077 Mechanical Military Factory can be recognized and adopted by the Yan State military.

Then the design and development project of the 212mm smoothbore gun of the 120 Mechanical Arsenal may be supported by the military and restarted.

Indeed, if the Yan country’s military plans to equip the new main battle tank with a 120mm smoothbore gun, it will inevitably allocate corresponding funds to the 212 Mechanical Arsenal to promote its further research and development of this type of artillery.

Thinking of this, Song Xiyun immediately crossed out the original 115mm smoothbore gun on the original main battle tank design and development drawings, and instead recorded the change to a 120mm smoothbore gun.

”As for armor, I have some good stuff that can come in handy.” Lin Chenran said mysteriously.

”Good stuff?” Song Xiyun was suddenly confused.

And he muttered to himself: Could it be that our factory director has a magic weapon that can enhance the defensive power of tank armor?
”Actually, I didn’t stay in the director’s office much last week. Instead, I spent the whole day in the factory laboratory doing research, and my target was this special steel.” Lin Chenran explained calmly.

”what?”

”Special steel?”

”Chen Ran, could it be that... you succeeded?”

When Song Xiyun heard this, a look of surprise immediately appeared on his face.

If Lin Chenran really succeeds in developing special steel, then it will definitely be a earth-shattering event for the 077 Mechanical Military Factory.

According to him, this special steel can not only be used in main battle tanks, but also significantly enhance their defense capabilities.

In this way, the 077 Mechanical Arsenal will surely usher in a historic leap!

Lin Chenran raised the corner of his mouth slightly and smiled softly: ”Almost, but it still needs further verification.”

”Really?” Song Xiyun widened his eyes, his face full of disbelief.

It only took one week to find a new special steel material!

”This……”

”That……”

Song Xiyun was dumbfounded and had no idea how to respond.

This speed and ability have far exceeded the scope of genius, it is simply a genius.

”Mr. Song, in fact, it’s not just this week’s efforts. Before I came to the 077 Mechanical Military Factory, I had already started researching new special steel.”

Lin Chenran lowered his voice and whispered to Song Xiyun.

”After arriving at the 077 Mechanical Arsenal, my inspiration burst forth like a spring, which led to the current achievements.”

He added one more sentence so as not to cause too much sensation.

After hearing this, although Song Xiyun was no longer as shocked as before, his heart was still full of admiration.

After all, being able to discover new special steel materials on your own is definitely a remarkable thing.

”That’s pretty impressive!” Song Xiyun exclaimed, with admiration gleaming in his eyes.

”I estimate that the special steel I developed will be several times or even dozens of times stronger than the steel used in the existing Type 69 tanks.”

Lin Chenran said calmly.

If vibranium material is added, its strength will be even stronger, perhaps hundreds or even thousands of times stronger.

Vibranium is not just a name.

In the Marvel Universe, Captain America’s shield has withstood attacks from countless weapons and remains intact.

This fully demonstrates the power of vibranium material.

……

After two hours of intense discussion, the preliminary form of the new main battle tank was finally successfully outlined through the joint efforts of Lin Chenran and Song Xiyun.

Compared with the original old model, this newly designed and developed new main battle tank has undoubtedly achieved a qualitative leap.

”Alas! It’s true that the waves behind push the waves in front, and the waves in front die on the beach.”

”As the saying goes, the disciple surpasses the master!”

Song Xiyun was instantly filled with emotion.

When Lin Chenran heard this, he scratched his head, a helpless smile appeared on his face, and he said softly: ”Mr. Song, you are really too kind.”

He shook his head slightly, indicating that he was not that outstanding: ”I know clearly how capable I am.” Lin Chenran was well aware of his own strength and status, and did not dare to be too conceited or exaggerate in front of a senior like Song Xiyun.

Song Xiyun is recognized as a top talent in Yan Country.

His talents and achievements are remarkable.

In comparison, Lin Chenran now seems much more immature.

Facing such an outstanding figure, Lin Chenran remained humble and awed.

After expressing his admiration for Lin Chenran, Song Xiyun picked up the brand new, carefully designed and developed main battle tank design drawing, feeling filled with satisfaction.

He carefully rolled up the precious drawing and prepared to leave Lin Chenran’s office and return to the 077 Mechanical Arsenal to work with other engineers on the subsequent fine decoration and improvement work.

When Song Xiyun walked to the door of the office, Lin Chenran suddenly raised his voice and shouted, ”Mr. Song, please note that there is only one week left before the tank bidding meeting held by the military!”

He hopes to remind the other party of the urgency of time and ensure that they can complete the task on time.

Although Song Xiyun had already walked out of the office, his response was clearly heard in the room: ”Got it!”

This brief answer showed that he had understood Lin Chenran’s reminder and would take it seriously.

Afterwards, the office door slowly closed and Song Xiyun left with the important design drawing.

Lin Chenran was left alone to think about the next task.

At the same time, Lin Chenran watched Song Xiyun gradually walk away until he disappeared from his sight, then he slowly turned around and sat back in the large office chair.

The pile of documents in front of him silently reminded him that the busy work of the past week had not yet been completed, and he still needed to deal with it personally.

Lin Chenran sighed helplessly: ”What a miserable person!”

It was as if he wanted to release all the fatigue and resentment in his body with this sigh.

However, he did not have much time to lament, and immediately quickened his actions, hoping to finish processing these documents as soon as possible and finish today’s work as soon as possible.

Time passed minute by minute, and Lin Chenran was fully focused on the documents. His eyes were focused and firm, and his hands quickly flipped through each document, occasionally picking up a pen to make comments or revisions on them.

He had only one thought in his mind - to finish these damn documents quickly and then punch out and go home.

Just when Lin Chenran thought he was about to finish his task, his assistant walked in from the door at an inopportune time, holding a thick stack of new documents in his hands.

It was obvious that he would need to make the final decision on these documents.

Lin Chenran stared at the increasing workload in front of him with wide eyes, and finally couldn’t suppress his inner dissatisfaction and anger, and let out a low roar: ”Ah! Is it never going to end!”

No matter how dishonored you are, you still have to work hard.
