Starting As a Young Eagle, I Evolve Into an Ice Beast

132: Chapter 132 Three Days Later, the American ContinentThree days later.

Bai Xuan had finished dealing with the various beast groups on the African Savanna, large and small, and had looted most of the resources. Now that the African Savanna had little left, Bai Xuan was too lazy to keep searching; it would be much faster to go elsewhere to scavenge resources.

Similarly, the Zerg had been mostly dealt with by Bai Xuan, leaving only a few scattered Zerg monsters. Bai Xuan didn’t bother to hunt them down one by one, so he simply ignored them.

“Where should I go next?” Bai Xuan pondered. After a moment, he decided on a place that surely had plenty of resources: the American Continent.

That was also the territory of the former world hegemon, Eagle Country.

Back when he was still human in his past life, Bai Xuan knew very well how powerful Eagle Country was. There was a saying that made quite a lot of sense: you could say Eagle Country was bad, but you couldn’t say it was weak. Both its military and technology were incredibly formidable.

“I choose you.” Bai Xuan gave a wicked smile, then flapped his wings and took to the sky, heading toward the American Continent.

...

“What! That beast is coming our way!”

General McCrae, the Eagle Country’s five-star general, sat bolt upright like a dying man suddenly jolted awake after receiving news from the intelligence department. He stood up abruptly, his pupils shaking with shock.

He had been receiving reports from the intelligence department over the past few days.

The Eagle Emperor had appeared on the African Savanna, ruthlessly slaughtering and devouring beasts and Zerg while looting massive amounts of resources. A full eighty to ninety percent of the African Savanna’s resources were gone. He was even more ruthless than Eagle Country, leaving absolutely nothing for the beasts of the savanna.

Originally, they had planned to wait for the situation to stabilize, launch their newest satellites, and then improve the strength of their warriors and spiritual tool technology. They hadn’t expected that beast to stretch its claws toward them so soon.

“McCrae, have you heard?! That beast is coming our way!” An officer burst through the door in a rush, having lost all sense of calm, grace, or etiquette.

After all, they were facing the only Rank Six Beast Emperor currently on Blue Star. They knew about Dragon Country’s confrontation with the Heavenly Centipede Beast Emperor and understood the terror of a Rank Six Beast Emperor. Furthermore, since it was Bai Xuan, they dared not let their guard down.

They certainly had to take it seriously, but now they appeared extremely panicked, fearing that the beast was coming specifically for them.

“Christine, let’s calm down first. Impulsiveness won’t solve anything; it will only make things more difficult.”

General McCrae hung up the phone and sighed helplessly. He didn’t want this to happen either, but there was no choice. They couldn’t compete with that beast right now, so they could only calm down and think of a strategy.

If it were any other country, they would have issued threats and expulsions long ago, or even traveled a great distance to give them a beating. But today was different from the past. Eagle Country had been knocked off its pedestal as the world’s strongest, and even some individual countries felt powerless.

It would be difficult for them to face Bai Xuan head-on, but if pushed to the brink, they would never let that beast have it easy. If they couldn’t stop it, they would resort to large-scale bombardment, using nuclear bombs and various advanced weapons to level the Lord of the Far East to the ground!

“How can I stay calm now? Haven’t you seen what that beast has done these past few days? If it can be so ruthless even to other beasts, won’t it be even worse for us humans?!”

Christine paced in circles, anxious and at a loss for what to do.

“Calm down! It’s not certain yet if that beast is coming for us. Don’t jump to conclusions so early,” General McCrae couldn’t help but bark.

This thoroughly snapped Christine out of it. Christine settled his emotions: “You’re right. Impulsiveness doesn’t solve problems. I lost my composure. My apologies.”

“I don’t blame you. I was the same; I lost my composure when I heard the news.” General McCrae didn’t blame Christine. This was perhaps the time of greatest unity for Eagle Country, with both political parties and military officers working as one, striving to get Eagle Country out of this crisis as quickly as possible, return to its peak, and perhaps even go a step further to rule the world.

“So what should we do now?” Christine plopped down on the sofa and familiarly took two cigars from a drawer, clipped them, and tossed one to General McCrae.

General McCrae caught the cigar and lit it using his fire-attribute ability. He also sat back on the sofa, and after blowing out a cloud of smoke, he felt much calmer:

“Wait for orders. My guess is that everyone will be put on high alert to wait for the beast’s arrival. After some negotiation, we’ll ask it to leave. Furthermore, doesn’t Dragon Country have a pretty good relationship with that beast? We can have them step in and say a few good words, at least so that the beast doesn’t launch an attack on us.”

“When has our Eagle Country ever been this pathetic? We don’t even dare to fire a single shot and have to politely ask it to leave. This is just...”

“The world order has changed. Humans no longer rule the world. With beasts and Zerg involved, it’s very difficult to handle.”

General McCrae naturally felt frustrated as well. Never mind facing the Eagle Emperor—even those marine beasts were enough to give them a hard time.

Over the past two years, the threat from sea beasts had been increasing daily.

By now, even the Navy they were so proud of had been beaten into retreat by the sea beasts. They didn’t even dare to leave their own territorial waters, which greatly limited their advantages. Plundering resources from other places was now out of the question; it was already good enough if they could look after their own territory.

“The military order is here,” General McCrae said as he heard the phone ring. He picked it up, listened to the voice and orders from the other side, said ’yes’ repeatedly, then hung up and turned to Christine: “It’s time for us to head out.”

General McCrae and Christine were among the few powerhouses in Eagle Country, both at Rank Four, Stage Nine. They were doing their best to become the first humans to advance to Rank Five, while Rank Six was still too far away for them.

“Alright.” Christine stood up and sighed helplessly. This mission was fraught with danger, and he didn’t know if he would survive.

But now, he could only brace himself and go.

...

In Eagle Country’s territorial waters, Christine, General McCrae, and several other officers stood in a line waiting for the Eagle Emperor’s arrival. Every one of them had a solemn expression. Dozens of miles behind them, various weapons were brought up, ready for action, though they weren’t deployed directly to the maritime defense line, as that would be too risky.

It could very likely provoke the beast and cause unnecessary misunderstandings and conflict.

“What did Dragon Country say?” General McCrae asked the officer standing behind him with a serious face.

These officers were the elite of Eagle Country, all Rank Four powerhouses. They were fully armed, their bodies covered in high-tech spiritual energy weapons weighing over a thousand pounds. However, for powerhouses like them, it was no different from wearing clothes, and they could move freely.

“Dragon Country has agreed to send people over to negotiate, but it’s hard to say if the Eagle Emperor will give them face.”

The officer reported. After all, Dragon Country had no right to interfere in the Eagle Emperor’s affairs, let alone threaten him. At most, they could say a few good words or offer benefits to ask the Eagle Emperor to leave or not attack humans.

“Alright, I understand.” General McCrae nodded slightly.

As fellow humans, and with the logic that the enemy of my enemy is my friend, the relationship between Dragon Country and Eagle Country had eased significantly due to the spiritual qi recovery. They might even form an alliance and reach a consensus in the future.

“Sir, the intelligence department has sent word. The Eagle Emperor isn’t flying toward us; he’s headed for the Amazon Rainforest in South America.”

An officer rushed to General McCrae’s side and reported the situation to him, Christine, and the others.

Hearing this news, they all breathed a sigh of relief, but the crisis hadn’t been averted. No one knew if that beast’s next target would be them.

“What do the higher-ups say?” General McCrae nodded slightly and asked, feigning composure.

“They want us to remain on high alert. On the other side, they’ve sent other generals to wait for negotiations,” the officer said.

Hearing this, both General McCrae and Christine felt fortunate. Naturally, they didn’t want to negotiate with that beast. On one hand, it was too humiliating, and on the other, it was too risky.

It was quite good that the higher-ups hadn’t sent them to negotiate.

“I see. That’s a pity then; I was hoping to see that Eagle Emperor with my own eyes.” But on the surface, General McCrae sighed, putting on a look of regret as if things hadn’t gone his way.

“There will be a chance. We just need to follow orders.” Christine patted General McCrae’s shoulder and said.

The other officers also began talking, no longer as tense as before.

However, most of the army dozens of miles back was redeployed to areas closer to South America.

After a while, the negotiators from Dragon Country arrived.

The leader of the negotiators this time was General Wang Zhuo, along with the President of the Dragon Country Warriors Association. They were fully armed, wearing very cool-looking Spiritual Armor that covered their entire bodies, looking majestic. This was Dragon Country’s latest technology in Spiritual Armor, and they were also equipped with Spatial Treasures—all of which had been purchased from Bai Xuan.

At the same time, only after studying the structure of the Spatial Treasures did they realize how difficult they were to replicate. Most of the Spatial Treasures seized from the Zerg and beasts had been destroyed during research, killing and injuring many people. Every study had to be conducted with extreme caution for fear of an accident.

General Wang Zhuo and his team landed on the ground. Their Flight devices retracted into their Spiritual Armor, and the headpieces did the same. General Wang Zhuo reached out a hand in greeting:

“Everyone, long time no see. I hope we aren’t late.”

General McCrae stepped forward to welcome them and shook hands with General Wang Zhuo: “You’re not late. The Eagle Emperor hasn’t harmed our country for the time being; he’s headed toward the Amazon.”

“Old friend, it really has been a long time. After this is over, I’ll treat you to drinks and a big meal.” Christine stepped forward warmly to greet General Wang Zhuo.

They then introduced their respective personnel to each other. In fact, they all knew of one another; though they hadn’t met in person, they knew each other’s identities through news and other information channels. Moreover, given their high status, it was impossible not to know.
