Starting As a Young Eagle, I Evolve Into an Ice Beast

131: Chapter 131 The Great Plains of the Philippines, The Lion King of the Lion Pride. The African Savanna.

This place was no longer suitable for human habitation; instead, it had become a paradise for fierce beasts.

There was also a portion of the Zerg, making conflict naturally inevitable.

Bai Xuan arrived at this location and released his Divine Sense, covering a radius of a thousand miles.

He located the beast groups within that thousand-mile radius, as well as countless Spirit Stones.

”As expected, the Lion Pride is the largest in scale.”

Bai Xuan murmured to himself.

Currently, the strongest beast group on the savanna was the Lion Pride, followed by the Hyena Tribe, and then the Rhino Tribe. Together, they occupied nearly sixty percent of the savanna’s resources. The Zerg held thirty percent, while the remaining ten percent belonged to other tribes and beasts.

The last great war had caused the Zerg heavy casualties, with countless deaths. Very few survived that conflict, and those present now were Zerg who had not participated in the war, so their strength was naturally much weaker than those who had.

There were only two Tier 5 Zerg monster beasts; Tier 4 and Tier 3 accounted for twenty percent, while the rest were newly hatched Zerg monster beasts with very low levels. However, the Zerg had already adapted to the environment of the Blue Star. It would only take two or three years for them to become a massive power, and occupying the savanna was only a matter of time.

Bai Xuan headed toward the Lion Pride’s territory.

...

”Lion King, should we go and seek refuge with the Lord of the Far East?”

A White-haired Baboon, fifteen meters tall and at the seventh stage of the fourth tier, was using a fan crudely made from a Spirit Tree to fan a majestic lion. The baboon spoke what was on its mind.

The Baboon Tribe had gained the Lion King’s recognition through flattery and by helping the Lion Pride stabilize control over the surrounding territories. They had joined the Lion Pride as a subsidiary tribe, becoming completely submissive and following every command without question.

The Lion King’s body was purple with golden lightning patterns. A thick, fluffy mane extended from its head down to its belly, and it had a pair of twisted horns on its head. It looked majestic, radiating an overbearing majesty.

”He cannot control this King,” the Lion King responded lazily.

It felt that Bai Xuan wouldn’t travel thousands of miles to come here. There were still many places around the Far East Region, so at least for now, he wouldn’t come to the African Savanna.

It only needed to do its best to grow so that it would have the strength to fight him in the future. It wasn’t particularly worried; after all, there was still plenty of time.

At the same time, due to the pride inherent to a Lion King, it would never submit to Bai Xuan and obediently hand over resources. Doing so would not only lose the Lion King’s dignity and prestige but also result in the loss of a vast amount of resources for nothing.

Because of this, it had delayed sending any beasts to befriend Bai Xuan, and it had no intention of submitting.

”But... that giant eagle has already reached Tier 6. If we don’t show some form of respect now, it might cause unnecessary trouble in the future.”

The baboon wanted to persuade the Lion King to submit to the Lord of the Far East. That way, their survival would be guaranteed, and they could use the opportunity to wipe out the Zerg. Although having to hand over forty percent of their resources was painful to think about.

But who told them that their fists weren’t as hard as the Lord of the Far East’s?

When it was time to bow one’s head, one had to bow; submitting wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.

At least the Zerg could be eliminated, and they could live peacefully on the savanna without constantly living in fear that Bai Xuan would attack.

”Look at how scared you are. I even dare to go head-to-head with the Zerg, so why would I fear some Lord of the Far East? Furthermore, he can’t reach us for the time being, so there’s no need to worry. We just need to cultivate well and grow as quickly as possible to at least have the strength to put up a fight.”

The Lion King remained as calm and indifferent as ever, not taking the baboon’s words seriously.

”I’m just afraid he’ll come looking for us...” The baboon still tried to persuade the Lion King to submit to the Lord of the Far East. Better safe than sorry; if he really attacked, the Lion Pride’s situation would become extremely tense.

At the same time, if another tribe beat them to it and then used his power to destroy the Lion Pride and snatch their resources, it would be a disaster.

”How did you become so cowardly? Can’t you have a bit of ambition? My Lion Pride is the strongest existence on the savanna. If it really comes to a fight, it’s not certain who would win or lose.”

The Lion King was becoming displeased. Boosting others’ morale while undermining its own—what kind of behavior was that? Was the baboon really that eager to submit to the Lord of the Far East?

”That beast is simply too strong, and I’m truly at my wit’s end. For the sake of the future, I can only try to persuade you, Lion King, to avoid a series of troublesome events later on.” The baboon sighed helplessly.

”Forget it, do as you please. However, I must remind you that your tribe is currently a subsidiary of the Lion Pride. If you dare to act on your own without my consent or play any little tricks, don’t blame me for being ruthless.”

The Lion King looked coldly at the baboon. These words were a warning to the baboon not to do anything that would make it unhappy.

”Rest assured, Lion King, I have known that from the beginning and would never betray you. However, Lion King, I am worried that the other two major tribes will go and seek refuge with the Eagle Emperor. At that time...”

At that time, the Lion Pride would naturally be in grave danger, but the baboon did not say it out loud.

”What is there to be afraid of? With their tiny brains, it’s not even certain they can find that giant eagle’s residence, let alone seek refuge. And ’Eagle Emperor’? Once I reach Tier 6, I will also call myself Emperor, and my title will definitely be more resounding than his!”

The Lion King seemed to have made a certain decision to reach Tier 6 as quickly as possible, but Tier 6 was not so easily attained.

The Lion King was currently at the fourth stage of Tier 5, which was still very far from Tier 6.

It was only because the Lion Pride controlled so many resources that the Lion King could grow to this point so quickly. Additionally, the recent Zerg disaster on the savanna had delayed the Lion King’s cultivation; otherwise, it would very likely be at the fifth stage of Tier 5 by now.

”Yes, the Lion King is right. I believe that in the near future, the Lion King will surely become the strongest beast and conquer the entire Blue Star.” Seeing the Lion King’s displeasure, the baboon quickly began to flatter it.

It seemed the Lion King was unwilling to be a subordinate. The baboon could only take things one step at a time. If the Lord of the Far East really came here, it would choose to submit without hesitation. If the Lion Pride brought destruction upon themselves through their lack of self-awareness, then they deserved it.

The baboon wouldn’t feel the slightest bit of sadness or anger, at most just a bit of regret.

”With my talent, I will surely be able to do it.” The flattery was very effective; the Lion King enjoyed this feeling of being high and mighty, majestic, and striking fear into others.

Currently, it was undoubtedly the strongest on the savanna, so it was normal for it to be arrogant and conceited. Even the Zerg didn’t dare to provoke it, which only further fueled its arrogance.

The baboon sighed helplessly in its heart. If there were no other suitable options, why would it come here to flatter and beg for protection?

”The Lion King is right; with your natural talent, you can certainly achieve it,” the baboon echoed, fanning the Spirit Tree fan, not daring to stop or slack off.

...

Suddenly, the Lion King seemed to sense something. It stood up abruptly, its gaze becoming solemn: ”My luck can’t be this bad.”

With such a powerful aura and such a massive body, the Lion King had already guessed who had arrived. It really was a case of ’speak of the devil.’

”It’s the Lord of the Far East!” The baboon was so frightened that it instinctively trembled.

What it worried about most now was whether the previous conversation had been heard by the Lord of the Far East. If it had been heard, it would be disastrous; otherwise, it wouldn’t be this afraid and worried.

The Lion King let out a roar toward the sky, summoning the beasts of the Lion Pride within its territory.

Instantly, the ground shook as a vast number of lions and other beasts that had submitted to the Lion Pride came running. Hearing the Lion King’s command, they rushed toward this location without stopping.

The baboon retreated behind the other beasts, ready to adapt to the situation; it might defect and submit to the Lord of the Far East at any moment.

”We welcome the Eagle Emperor’s grand arrival to the Lion Pride.”

The Lion King bowed slightly and spoke with great respect.

The other beasts did the same. After all, he was a Tier 6 beast, and they had enough self-awareness to know that making an enemy of him would only lead to death. Furthermore, such a powerhouse deserved to be treated this way; they didn’t feel it was a loss of dignity.

What greeted them was a dazzling flash of light. A pale blue glow covered the entire sky, the temperature plummeted, and the Extreme Cold Breath followed immediately after.

Seeing this scene, the Lion King’s pupils dilated in shock: ”No! We are willing to submit! Please, Eagle Emperor, don’t kill us!”

It had just been talking big earlier to maintain its dignity as the Lion King.

Actually facing the Lord of the Far East, it could only beg for mercy.

If it had known, it should have submitted earlier to gain protection.

The Lion King released its thunder, wrapping itself in layer after layer of purple protective shields, hoping to survive this attack.

A thunderous boom shook the heavens as ice shot into the sky, enveloping a hundred-mile radius in frost. The Lion King never imagined that gathering the pride would only result in them being wiped out in one fell swoop, without providing even a hint of deterrence.

Within the Extreme Cold Breath, the hundred-mile radius was razed to the ground. The beasts were blasted into blood mist, leaving not even a bone behind.

At the same time, Bai Xuan flew to the location.

The attack had arrived even before the eagle did, easily annihilating the Lion Pride.

Bai Xuan devoured all the blood mist, gaining quite a few evolution points, but for his next breakthrough, it was merely a drop in the bucket. Just devouring these beasts, who knew how long it would take to reach Tier 7.

”Hmm? A beast actually survived?” Any beast that could survive Bai Xuan’s Extreme Cold Breath must possess some kind of treasure.

”Come out. Don’t force me to drag you out personally,” Bai Xuan said coldly, seeing that the beast had no intention of emerging.

”Don’t, don’t! I’m coming out now.” The survivor was none other than the Baboon Leader, the same one who had been talking to the Lion King earlier.

”How did you survive?” Bai Xuan sized up the baboon. Its bloodline and level were mediocre, not that powerful. Even the Lion King was dead, yet this fellow hadn’t died; it must have a treasure on its person.

”Reporting to the Eagle Emperor, I survived thanks to a one-time defensive treasure.”

After hesitating for a moment, the baboon ultimately chose to tell the truth.

It didn’t dare to hide anything.

”What treasure? Bring it out for me to see,” Bai Xuan said with interest.

”It was a one-time defensive treasure I obtained from the Zerg. If the Eagle Emperor wants it, I can lead the way to the Zerg to get more,” the baboon said tremblingly.

”Obtained from the Zerg? Then why would you know how to use it?”

Bai Xuan heard the suspicious part of the story. After all, for a beast like this, Zerg treasures were not easily obtained, let alone a treasure that could withstand an attack from a Tier 6 Beast Emperor. Such things were incredibly precious and extremely difficult to acquire, let alone knowing how to use them.

For a moment, the baboon didn’t know how to answer Bai Xuan’s question.

After all, this kind of treasure wasn’t something normally captured. Even the Lion King didn’t have one, much less know how to use it. Therefore, it could only have been obtained through a secret deal with the Zerg.

”A space ring?” Bai Xuan saw the space ring hidden in the baboon’s fur and roughly guessed how it had been obtained.

Seeing the baboon trembling and trying to figure out how to answer him.

”I guess you obtained it through some secret cooperation with the Zerg.”

Bai Xuan let out a cold laugh.

”Eagle Emperor, spare me! I was forced into it! Before, the Zerg were too powerful and forced me to be their informant, otherwise they would have killed me. I only agreed to cooperate out of sheer necessity...”

Hearing this, the baboon fell to its knees with a thud and began to beg for mercy.

”Forget it, you should just die.” Bai Xuan didn’t feel like wasting any more words with the baboon and directly condensed an Ice Spike to kill it.

He then took the space ring from its body and headed toward the Lion Pride Treasury. After the Zerg had been severely weakened, the Lion Pride had begun their counterattack and obtained many resources, leaping to become the number one tribal power on the African Savanna.

Bai Xuan broke open the entrance to the underground treasury and entered.

The space inside was very large and the structure was very sturdy, having been built by the Baboon Tribe. The treasury was packed with countless Spirit Stones, as well as many natural treasures, ores, and the like.

Bai Xuan sucked all of them into his stomach. These resources would be enough for him to absorb for a long time: ”As expected, this is the fastest way to obtain resources.”

Bai Xuan had long had his eye on this land of Africa; there would certainly be no shortage of resources, and just as he had expected, there were indeed many.

Bai Xuan flew out of the underground hole and continued his search. The Lion Pride had more than one treasury; there were others elsewhere. With his super-strong Divine Sense, Bai Xuan could easily find the locations of the treasuries.

He didn’t need to rely on the baboon or the Lion King to lead the way.

After some time, Bai Xuan finally finished his looting: ”No time to lose, on to the next one.”

The sooner I finish, the sooner I can go back.
