ShangriLa Frontier ~ Shitty Games Hunter Challenges Godly Game ~

Immediately after I barely managed to squeeze enough power inside of my body to back away, with its power set to the maximum, there was a pillar of black and white light that shot out from the depths of the strange crack, overflowing all over the ground that was surrounding it. This light was strangely reminiscent of that of a laser, as it pierced the sky and clouds leaving nothing in its wake but burnt and scorching space, persisting for a few moments before eventually fading into nothingness. …… Ahh, I see, I get it. At least I think so?

[If I was just a split of a second slower, it would have been too late. I would have been turned into crust and that would be it.]

[A-Are you alright, Sanraku-kun?]

No, I guess that this would not be a strictly “me” kind of a problem. When it comes to those kinds of instant death gimmicks, everyone would just instantly vaporize and disappear, no matter how tanky or good at evading they would be.

If we are to consider those who are still dwelling under the surface of the continents of this world, this thing is most probably the scar that was created by the surges of pure aether that were escaping from Erebus’s slumbering body. The conclusive evidence here are those two lights of the opposing nature, as they behaved like oil and water and would not mix together no matter what, creating a wave of black and white destruction as a result, that needed to find a way to be discharged somehow.

[Hmm, I’m wondering…… Could this be this whole “White Scar” that the quest tag was talking about……?]

[S-Suppose that to be true, then what should we do here……?]

A mysterious quest that Rei-san received right after obtaining her Demonic Sword, asking her to go and bathe it in the light of the “White Scar”. But that’s about it. So, whatever it is that should be done to soak, or otherwise “immense” the demonic sword in that purely destructive force? Should we just plunge this thing right into the crevasse as another wave of destructive force is going to approach? Or maybe we need to climb all the way down there and place it at the very root that causes this destructive light to emerge in the first place? But if we were to try doing that second option, this means that we would need to find a way to deal with that destructive laser light at regular intervals…… And unfortunately for us both, neither one of us has any means of neutralizing a regular photothermal attack like this one. And even if we did, I am more than sure that it would succeed just a little bit before evaporating us thoroughly.

[No, that’s not really it……]

This is a task that Rei-san needs to overcome on her own. Or rather, it’s a task that anyone who managed to obtain a Demonic Sword or armor like that would eventually need to overcome. Let’s think about it for a moment. So, the very basic requirements for this quest is to have either a Demonic Sword or Demonic Armor on you. Without that the quest would simply be impossible to proceed…… No, that’s not it, either. Considering that at some point in time the Players are supposed to obtain the Non–Standard Tactical Warbeasts, their usage is also a viable option. But I highly doubt that the game would allow someone to take a road like that, especially since it was reeking of “shortcut” no matter how you choose to look at it. Not to mention that things like that are not “One Copy Per Entier Game’s World” and that many people can get their hands on them. …… But if that’s the case here, then should we proceed about that? It should be modeled so that one person should be able to do it, right?

I’ve been thinking about it for a long time now, but this game sure is strange when it comes to balancing things out. And strange is putting it lightly, because truth to be told it’s downright crazy more often than not. You would think that people like the development team of this game would be adamant about being extraordinarily faithful to the way in which the world is being presented to the playerbase. But I guess that there are times when being faithful to the setting needs to step aside and make some space for extraordinary obsession with adjusting the game balance. For example, think about the way in which the Overseer Golem on the Wreckage Road is, and what is implemented there in order to balance things out. If you were trying to defeat a boss monster of that sheer size without employing the help of a Tactical Warbeast, you would have a whole lot of trouble succeeding with that strategy. Or to put it bluntly, it would be pure suicide. So they needed to make that thing in such a way that those who have Tactical Warbeasts and those who do not have access to them would be able to do it no problem. Hence the way in which the boss was constructed and the arena around it……

[But if that’s so, then what option here would be the right one to follow……?]

[…… Hmm?]

Do we go with the emphasis being put on the world view? Or do we go with the emphasis being put on the capture aspect? If we were to focus on the world view alone, it could simply be done by knocking down the Player who is wearing the appropriate armor and weapons down the hole, and that would be more than enough to “awaken” their true form, but……

「Umm, Sanraku-kun……?」

「Hmm? What’s wrong, Rei-san?」

「Umm, actually, I…… I think that I might have a little idea in regards to that.」

Hoo, you do?

Now I wonder: just what could that “idea” that Rei-san was about to propose to me be?
