ShangriLa Frontier ~ Shitty Games Hunter Challenges Godly Game ~

Lunar Dragoon, otherwise known as the Dragon Rider of the Moon..

It was a secret sub-class that was first rumored to exist about one year after ShangriLa Frontier first launched its service…… but the truth about that secret sub-class did not come to light until ten months later..

─── If you achieve certain conditions with the maximally leveled up classes of both “Paladin” and “Dark Knight” set as your main class and sub-class respectively, a new hidden top sub-class will become available to you.

If you were to trace the origin of this particular sub-class, you would find that it is a “Knight who wanders the world with both light and darkness alongside him”. Or at the very least, that is supposed to be written in the information that can be viewed by getting that sub-class. As for its abilities, it is a sub-class said to combine the strongest abilities and characteristics of both “Paladin” class and “Dark Knight” class. And again, it is something that was based on hear-say rumors and as a result gave birth to a whole lot more rumors.

As for those two class, they are both derived from a “Knight” class, and can be said to be its highest possible outcomes, based on what is the most important to the knight itself: either faith and protection of others, or rage and violent slaughter. The fact that you had to level those two classes turned out to be its downfall, though, as the vast majority of the players deemed it to be way too much of a drag to accomplish, and so no one even bothered to verify if there was at least some semblance of truth behind those rumors. And just like that the rumor was forgotten, and it ended up being just that —- a mere rumor.

However, it would seem that one particular player continued to wield her sword in the name of both “Paladin” path and the “Dark Knight” path as their creed up until today.

To tell you the truth, most of the power needed to be on top in the game of ShangriLa Frontier comes from a combination of both powerful skills and mighty magic. That is why, as long as the class is one of the top tier ones or a combination of them, and you can still be able to fight on the frontlines without actually changing your battle style all that much, Saiga-0 saw no reason to change her class and just carried on with whatever she was having at the current moment. It was as simple of a reason like that..

However, that was also the reason why she actually managed to achieve one of the conditions for unlocking the “Lunar Dragoon” sub-class without even knowing she was doing so.

When it comes to classes in ShangriLa Frontier and the conditions needed for unlocking new ones, they can be generally divided into three distinct categories. And those would be:

The ones where you need to fulfill certain conditions in order to unlock them.

The ones where you need to complete a certain storyline or a series of quests in order to unlock them.

And the ones that are basically the mixture of the above two types.

Those three types are pretty standard. Most classes can be categorized under different Unique Scenarios, narrative types where you obtain a class by completing a quest, conditional types where you can change a class to a different one when you achieve multiple conditions, or complex types where you can achieve a condition and generate the Unique Scenario associated with it.

The “Lunar Dragoon” sub-class is a compound type, and the condition to initially unlock is to “Achieve the highest level possible with both the Paladin class and the Dark Knight class, as well as achieve a certain value of a certain hidden stat”. Then you need to level up some more. Then you need to clear a certain Unique Scenario dedicated to it, as well as defeat a certain monster that is going to raise the “hidden stat” above the needed threshold…… It might be hard to summarize accordingly in the form of raw text, but I shall do my best to do just that.

・ Equip the classes of both “Paladin” and “Dark Knight” and level them up to their highest level.

・ Become so strong that the NPCs start to gossip about your character. You must also stay “neutral”, your character not leaning towards either “Light” or “Darkness”.

・ Learn the ability that allows you to tame and mount monsters.

That seems to be the general flow of this particular questline.

In Saiga-0’s case, she has moved her base of operations into Rabbitz after being able to generate the Unique Scenario EX “The Epic of the Vorpal Bunnies”. In other words, this allowed her to fulfill yet another condition without even trying: becoming a powerful knight “whose current whereabouts are unknown”. Then that left only one other condition, but she also managed to clear that one up with little to no effort after she happened to encounter a powerful monster in the wilderness called the Alma Alogo Hetairon.

***

[…… And that would be more or less it.]

Well, for the time being, when we were aiming to find some distant place where the Miner Dwarves would be very unlikely to approach, we just so happened to stumble upon this giant Armored Horse called Alma Alogo Hetairon. We have fought it fiercely, especially Rei-san with her golden rod and the Onimusha-like armor was especially helpful, and can you imagine that? Just before we were able to struck that finishing blow, there was a new kind of Unique Scenario appearing before us. And after accepting it, it turned out that Rei-san was actually able to tame the Armored Horse monster……

[Hmm, okay, I understand. But that being said, if you were to describe to someone how it feels to play the Lunar Dragoon class, what would you say?]

[Umm, let’s see…… It would seem that its performance changes greatly depending on what time of the day it happens to be at the current moment.]

Somehow, I have a strong feeling that we have already happened to encounter a monster out there that was operating on almost exactly the same principle. What’s more, there is a guys who happened to beat that monster and already made a new set of equipment for himself from all the parts that he managed to obtain from that monster. Yes, that’s right. If I had a mirror on me right now, I would be able to look that guy dead in the eye.

[Umm, next we have…… In other words, at night the Lunar Dragoon enters a bonus “New Moon” state, while during the day it enters the state known as “Sun Eater” state, and……]

[Hmm? What’s wrong? Is something the matter?]

[N-No, it’s nothing. No ulterior motives at all, you know?]

[Huh? Well, I don’t really get it, but…… Alright, I guess.]

I then asked Rei-san about some more details regarding that class, and I must say that the Lunar Knight certainly is a pretty unique (in the sense of being interesting) kind of a class.
