ShangriLa Frontier ~ Shitty Games Hunter Challenges Godly Game ~

It basically works like this: during the night you use the Power of Light in order to overcome your enemies and challenges, and during the day you use the Power of Darkness to do basically the same, but inverted. It would also seem that this class can store up Power of Light in the night by being exposed to the sources of light, and during the day it can store up on Power of Darkness by absorbing shadows and everything like it.

That’s why there was a certain thing that I wanted to give a try here, since we are already at it.

[Umm, let’s see, I’ sure that it was in here somewhere…… Ah! There it is! A Disposable Magic Scroll containing the spell “Magic Torch” within it.]

Once I activated it, there was a small light bulb that appeared above my head and illuminated our entire surroundings. Well, from the Player’s point of view, since we can see to some degree in the darkness, the dimness before nightfall has become rather bright, but other than that……

[Right, here we go…… “Lunar Eclipse ‘Still Eclipse’”]

[Ooohhh!?]

What the…!? All of a sudden, I was starting to lose MP!? No, it’s not just that. It’s not that my parameters just started to change for some reason.

How should I even describe the scene that was happening right in front of me……? For the lack of better words, it felt as though the space itself was being illuminated by the light that Rei-san grasped in her hand.

It’s a scene that you could never hope to see in real life, I mean…… Like this, the light emitted from the corner of the “Magic Torch” is still forcibly shining, but it’s like Rei-san was stealing it away from me alongside my precious MP, making what’s mine her own property for the time being.

[This light that I grabbed a hold of…… Umm, I heard that I can simply use it as is, or choose to give it back to its rightful owner, or even use it for the purpose of attacking.]

[On paper that sounds really nice, but isn’t that conditional MP drain too ridiculous……?]

[O-Oh! Y-Yes, that’s right! I-I’m sorry! L-Let me give it back to you really quick!]

Now, can you really give it back to the ones from which you have taken it? No, wait, that would be really……

[My MP…… It’s coming back to me……!?]

Whoa, this is nuts. This is seriously nuts right here! In some cases, this sub-class has the terrifying specs and potential to violate every single ‘human right’ in this game…!?

[Rei-san, this is seriously dangerous…… What are you going to do about this? Do you want to tell the other Players? Or would you like to keep it a secret from them for now?]

[Umm, this is……]

I’m not going to say anything to her if she chooses to keep it a secret. However, keeping it a secret might actually backfire on her really horribly if someone is going to find out about it in some way. Especially since this is something that can’t be easily reproduced.

I seriously don’t think that this is going to convince various Healers to switch classes for those of damage dealers, but what Rei-san managed to pull off here was basically a ticket for making people interested in sub–classing into either Paladin or a Dark Knight. But hey, maybe that would make dealing with Nightprowler Luukan a little bit easier? At least maybe people would have better chances at beating it, rather than being one-shotted all the time.

But unless someone actually tries that and uploads some clips or information onto the capture wiki or something else like that, we will never actually know.

There can be no analysis or leaks in the case of a game such as ShanFro, which means that it is up to Rei-san to decide whether or not to publish the existence of this hidden class.

[…… Umm, this is, I think…… I think that this should be made public.]

[You mind telling me the reason why?]

I know from the relationship we have had had so far that it’s not because Rei-san feels bad about lying to others or cheating them over. No, I’m not saying that a reason like that would be particularly bad to have, but that is clearly not the reason why Rei-san wants to come out with it to the general public here.

[When you get down to it, Shangri-La Frontier is just…… Well, it’s just a game. so if the developers allowed only two people in the entire game to grow outstandingly strong and leave all other players behind, I think that this would cause some irreparable damage to the World Quest, if not the game as a whole.]

[Yes, you have got a point there.]

Ever since I have first managed to run into a Raid Monster, there was this really unpleasant feeling swelling within me. And it has been with me ever since. Even though this game is a VRMMO, there is clearly a concept of “Game Over” embedded deep into its setting.

The closest example of this that I can think of is this new “Wandering Pandemic” Raid Monster. I mean, it’s obvious that if the Players fail to defeat it in time, its toxic fumes are going to completely wipe out the entire population of Thirdrema. So its not the kind of monster on which we can just turn our backs and let it be.

Then there is the fact that not all Raid Monsters have been revealed to the Players yet. And the World Quest always progresses forward as soon as another Unique Scenario EX is cleared…… So it is obvious to assume that at the end of the World Quest there will be a Boss character waiting for us. As per usual with stories written on such a scale.

But even when the time for the final battle comes around, and even if all the Players make a stand in it, there is no guarantee that we are going to succeed. Especially with the Players having their real life obligations and not being able to devote all of their time inside of the game.

Same thing can be said for Rei-san and myself. If the Last Boss of the game decides to appear on the day of our final exam or something equally important, then there is nothing we can do about it. We won’t be able to take part in it. Because that’s only to be expected: you need to always prioritize the real life events over such a trival matter like the fall of ShangriLa Frontier.

[…… So, does that mean that it’s a no-go?]

[Umm, no? Not really, why? Rather, if that’s what you really think, Rei-sa…… No, Saiga-san, then I respect that.]

Honestly, right now I feel like I’m a little bit lost here. And while I was busy feeling that way, I also felt like I happened to have forgotten about something really important..

[Well, you see, this is, umm…… Actually, there is still something else…… Something that I would like to ask for your help with……]

[Hmm? What is it now?]
