Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

At that moment, Zhao Rong was engrossed in watching the Black Ghost’s soul leave his body. He was so focused that he failed to notice the toad demon chancellor’s lover, a beautiful cheerleader, sneaking up on him with a sharp sword aimed straight for his heart. In the blink of an eye, just as she was about to strike, the Black Ghost—still in the middle of his soul’s departure—paused the process. He leaped up and drove a flying knee into the cheerleader’s head.

As her sword neared Zhao Rong’s heart, the cheerleader smiled inwardly. Little security guard, my lover, the toad demon chancellor, may have failed to kill you, but the sword in my hand will end your life right here.

By the time Zhao Rong reacted, the blade was inches from his chest. With no time to dodge, the Black Ghost’s flying knee slammed into the cheerleader, sending her sprawling to the ground.

The Black Ghost dusted off his knees and glared down at the cheerleader. ”I, the Black Ghost, have a rule: I never hit women,” he said coldly. ”However, since you’re a toad demon, I’ll make an exception. I won’t be holding back.”

With that, he delivered a powerful punch straight to her head, KO’ing her instantly.

Zhao Rong clutched his chest, his eyes darting to the dead cheerleader. He let out a breath of relief. ”That was a close call. One wrong move and it would’ve been a lifetime of regret. Thank you for acting so quickly. Otherwise, I would’ve been another victim of that female toad demon’s blade.”

The words had barely left his mouth when the cheerleader’s body contorted, transforming into a massive toad. Staring at the two dead toad demons in the room, Zhao Rong sighed. ”This is insane. To think creatures like this could infiltrate Xijing University and one could even become its chancellor... If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I’d have sworn it was a fairy tale.”

After eliminating the cheerleader, the Black Ghost resumed the Soul Exchange. Meanwhile, Zhao Rong took out the Damo Sword from his Magic Ring and began dissecting the two toad demons, hoping to extract Demon Crystals from their bodies. He was in luck. Zhao Rong managed to recover one Demon Crystal from each toad demon, and he also extracted their toxin. Both the Demon Crystals and the toad toxin were excellent supplementary materials for his potion-making.

Just as Zhao Rong finished storing the Demon Crystals and toad toxin in his Magic Ring, the Black Ghost successfully completed his soul departure and the Soul Exchange. Suddenly, the short, ugly, balding old man in the chancellor’s chair transformed, becoming a tall, handsome, and imposing figure.

Zhao Rong stared at the man before him. He rubbed his eyes and looked him up and down. ”Black Ghost, congratulations. You’ve successfully reclaimed your body. I guess I can’t call you Black Ghost anymore. It’ll have to be Chancellor from now on.”

The Black Ghost grinned, pulling a comb from his pocket. He began styling his now-full head of hair into a slicked-back look. ”Ah, to be back in my own body, back in the chancellor’s seat... it feels incredible.”

At that very moment, a WeChat video call from Mage Yizhen popped up on Zhao Rong’s phone. As he answered, Zhao Rong muttered, ”This guy has some perfect timing. It’s like he was hiding behind the door watching the whole fight.”

Zhao Rong accepted the call. On the screen, Mage Yizhen appeared with his arm around his young Ukrainian wife, Christina. ”So?” the Mage asked. ”Did you help the Black Ghost get his revenge?”

Zhao Rong flipped the camera, pointing it at the two enormous toad carcasses. ”Rest assured, Master. I not only helped the Black Ghost get his revenge by killing the toad demon chancellor, but he has also successfully completed the soul departure and Soul Transfer. He’s back in his own body now.”

Just then, the Black Ghost walked over. Seeing Mage Yizhen on the screen, he said excitedly, ”Mage Yizhen, I don’t know how I can ever thank your disciple, Zhao Rong! If it weren’t for his help, I’d still be trapped by that curse in the abandoned library under the laboratory building.”

Hearing this, Mage Yizhen immediately joked, ”My friend, if you truly want to thank my disciple, then give him your position as chancellor of Xijing University. While you’re at it, give him one hundred percent of the university’s shares.”

As soon as he said it, Mage Yizhen thought to himself, That was a hell of a joke. A man like the Black Ghost, who holds money and power dearer than life itself, would never give up the chancellorship of Xijing University. And he’d certainly never hand over one hundred percent of its shares to Zhao Rong.

Standing beside the Black Ghost, Zhao Rong smiled knowingly. ”Thanks aren’t necessary. Punishing evil, promoting good, and serving justice is the duty of every cultivator.”

Just then, the Black Ghost’s gaze fell on Christina, and his eyes filled with envy. ”Senior Brother,” he said to the Mage, ”I’m so jealous of you. You’re over fifty, yet you managed to marry such a beautiful young woman! She’s as gorgeous as a flower, with skin like cream and a bombshell figure... so curvy and full of feminine charm.”

Seeing how envious he was, Mage Yizhen joked, ”My friend, a man as excellent, wealthy, and capable as you? If you came to Ukraine, you could definitely find a woman even more beautiful than my Christina.”

At these words, the Black Ghost’s eyes lit up. He spun around and grabbed Zhao Rong’s hand. ”Zhao Rong, I think... I think I’m going to Ukraine! Therefore, I’m giving the chancellorship to you, along with one hundred percent of the university’s shares. That’s the only way I can go to Ukraine, burn my bridges, and wholeheartedly start a new life!”

Hearing the Black Ghost seriously offer him the supreme title of Chancellor of Xijing University and one hundred percent of its shares, Zhao Rong was utterly stunned. He stared at him. ”Black Ghost, hold on. We agreed that if I helped you, you’d make me vice-chancellor and give me half the shares. That was more than enough. There’s no need to give me the chancellorship and all the shares, is there?”

The Black Ghost looked at Zhao Rong, his eyes welling up with tears. ”Zhao Rong,” he said with deep emotion, ”you don’t understand. I have another dream... one I’ve never fulfilled.”

Hearing the Black Ghost speak of another, greater dream, Zhao Rong leaned in, thinking, A greater dream? It must be about achieving the pinnacle of academic success or climbing to the ultimate heights of power.

But Zhao Rong was completely wrong. The Black Ghost let out a long sigh and declared, ”The truth is, ever since I was young, I’ve had a thing for foreign women. I’ve always dreamed of marrying one. Back in those days, our country’s economy wasn’t developed, we didn’t have the internet, and travel was difficult, so my dream never came true. But things are completely different now! If a man like Mage Yizhen—who’s ugly, short, terrible with women, can’t even speak English, and is over fifty—can find a beautiful young foreign wife, then what about a man like me? I, the Black Ghost, am tall, powerful, and brilliant. What’s more, I’m not just literate and good with numbers; I am fluent in English, French, German, Russian, Ukrainian, Native American languages, Eskimo, and even Pygmy languages!”

Hearing the chancellor claim fluency in so many foreign languages, Zhao Rong couldn’t help but suck in a sharp breath. He gave the Black Ghost a thumbs-up. ”With that many languages under your belt, it would be a crime against yourself not to chase that dream of yours. It would be a life wasted!”

Spurred on by Zhao Rong’s words, the Black Ghost pulled him into a tight, excited hug. ”Mage Yizhen needed a translation Divine Artifact to capture a foreign beauty’s heart! I, the Black Ghost, will do it with my own silver tongue and flawless Ukrainian! I’ll find a woman who is even more beautiful, younger, and more captivating!”

With that, the Black Ghost snatched the phone from Zhao Rong’s hand. ”Senior Brother!” he said to Mage Yizhen. ”Ask Christina right now! Does she know any single, beautiful Ukrainian women who want to marry a Chinese man?”

Mage Yizhen was just about to use his translation Divine Artifact to ask his wife, but the Black Ghost beat him to it, speaking directly to Christina in fluent Ukrainian, ”Beautiful lady, how about you introduce me to a girlfriend?”

Christina laughed and replied in Ukrainian, ”Of course! China’s economy has been booming for years. Your infrastructure is amazing, people are getting wealthier, and the living conditions are much better than in Ukraine. Besides, Chinese men are hardworking, family-oriented, and treat their wives and children well. And the best part is, you men earn money but don’t spend it on yourselves—it all goes to your family! That’s why so many Ukrainian women are lining up to marry a Chinese man these days.”

Hearing just how popular Chinese men were in Ukraine, the Black Ghost’s mind was made up. He said to Mage Yizhen, ”Mage Yizhen, book me a flight from Xijing City to Kyiv for the day after tomorrow! I’m going to Ukraine to marry a foreign wife, start a new family, and have a mixed-race baby!”

Seeing his friend about to follow in his footsteps, Mage Yizhen was thrilled. ”Come on over, brother! Not only are the women beautiful and easy to woo, but the mothers-in-law don’t demand a house or a bride price!”

The Black Ghost turned to Zhao Rong, his face beaming with excitement. ”Hero Zhao Rong, I’m off to Ukraine the day after tomorrow! Goodbye!”

Watching the chancellor prepare to leave for Ukraine to start a new family, Zhao Rong suddenly thought of Jingjing. He had been to the chancellor’s home before and had even cured his daughter, Jingjing, of breast cancer. Zhao Rong knew the chancellor already had a family in Xijing City—a good wife and a lovely daughter. Why would he abandon them all for a strange city in a foreign country?

So, Zhao Rong confronted him directly. ”Chancellor, you have a wife and daughter in Xijing City. If you go to Ukraine and get married, that’s bigamy. You’ll be arrested and sent to prison.”

The Black Ghost froze. He stared at Zhao Rong for a long moment before saying, ”Zhao Rong, there’s something you don’t know. I’ve been keeping a secret in my heart for over a decade. I’ve never told a soul, but today... I’m going to tell you.”
