Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

When they saw the talismans on the assistant get swept away by a cold draft from the sewer, Zhao Rong and Wang Meili rushed over, leaping to grab the papers from the air. However, the secret room was dimly lit and the wind was too strong; in just a moment, the talismans had vanished without a trace.

Seeing that all the talismans had been blown off his body, the assistant touched the last diaper talisman he was wearing. ”Black Ghost, what do we do? Are you just going to stand there and watch me turn into a zombie?”

Black Ghost looked at the diaper the assistant was wearing and replied with relief, ”Don’t worry. As long as that diaper talisman isn’t soaked with your urine, it should still be somewhat effective…”

Upon hearing this, the assistant burst into tears. Touching the now-soaked diaper with one hand and wiping his tears with the other, he cried, ”Black Ghost, why didn’t you say so earlier? I had to pee really badly just now and was too lazy to find a private spot, so I just went in the diaper…”

Hearing that the assistant had ruined their last sliver of hope, Black Ghost sighed. ”Then our only choice is to find the Mermaid in the sewer within the hour. Only then can you be saved.”

Hearing this, the assistant was the first to act, jumping right into the sewer manhole. As he leaped, he declared, ”Since time is of the essence, I, your assistant, will be the vanguard!”

Seeing the assistant jump into the sewer, Zhao Rong, Wang Meili, and Black Ghost quickly followed. Once they all landed, it felt as if they had arrived in a new world.

Zhao Rong stared at the massive sewer pipes before them and couldn’t help but exclaim, ”I never would have thought Xi Jing University’s drainage system would be this advanced. It’s shocking!”

Wang Meili stood on the ground, gazing at the seemingly endless sewer tunnel, and gasped. ”This drainage system could probably withstand a major flood…”

In contrast to Zhao Rong and Wang Meili’s astonishment, the assistant looked completely lost. ”In a boundless place like this, how are we supposed to find the Mermaid?”

Listening to his concerns, Black Ghost offered a slight smile. ”Don’t be afraid, Assistant. As long as you follow me, I guarantee you a safe and smooth journey to find her.”

With that, Black Ghost started walking forward, with Zhao Rong, Wang Meili, and the assistant following closely behind. Along the way, they all shuddered at the sight of giant rats crawling along the sewer walls. Furthermore, the deeper they ventured into the sewer, the larger the rats became.

Zhao Rong stared at the piglet-sized rats on either side and exclaimed, ”Damn, the rats in this sewer are way too big! I’m afraid they’re only going to get bigger the deeper we go…”

Following close behind Zhao Rong, Wang Meili wished she could hide inside his clothes. ”If I’d known the rats here were this big, we should have brought some rat poison,” she said. ”Otherwise, what will we do if they attack us?”

Hearing their worries, the assistant recalled what Black Ghost had said earlier: *Don’t worry, just follow me, and I’ll ensure a safe and smooth journey to find the Mermaid.* He turned to reassure the others. ”What’s there to fear? Since Black Ghost gave us his guarantee, we definitely won’t run into any danger.”

After speaking, he mentally scoffed at Zhao Rong and Wang Meili. These two cowards don’t even have half my courage.

He was still smirking to himself when, suddenly, a dozen or so bull-sized rats charged out of the darkness ahead. When the assistant saw them, he scratched the back of his head in disbelief. ”No way, are there bulls in this sewer? But I thought bulls ate grass. This sewer is full of wastewater, so where would they find grass to eat?”

While the assistant was busy mistaking the giant rats for bulls, Zhao Rong grabbed Wang Meili’s hand and spun around to flee. ”This is bad! They’re killer rats! Run!” he shouted.

When the assistant heard the words ”killer rats,” he froze. He turned to see Zhao Rong already pulling Wang Meili more than ten meters away, while Black Ghost was a hundred meters ahead of them. Seeing that everyone else had fled and left him behind, the assistant scrambled to run. ”Black Ghost!” he yelled. ”Didn’t you say the path you were leading us on was safe and smooth? So why are there so many killer rats?”

Running faster than a rabbit, Black Ghost glanced back over his shoulder. ”Damn it! The rats in this sewer used to be small! Who knew the pollution got so bad recently that they all had genetic mutations and turned into killer rats?”

Meanwhile, Zhao Rong, still pulling Wang Meili along, shouted back at the assistant, ”Assistant, run! These killer rats are incredibly ferocious, as fierce as leopards! If you stay there, you’re just waiting to die!”

Hearing how deadly the rats were, the assistant immediately tried to pick up his pace. Damn, I have to run faster, or I’ll really end up in their stomachs.

However, because he was wearing a diaper, his running speed was clearly restricted. Soon enough, Zhao Rong, Wang Meili, and Black Ghost reached a safe area and scrambled onto a high platform, leaving the assistant behind, surrounded by a dozen killer rats.

Trapped in the middle, the assistant looked at the rats circling him. He pressed his hands together and began to plead, ”Big Brother Rat, Grandpa Rat, Daddy Rats, please have mercy! Just let me go! I’m about to turn into a zombie anyway…”

As he finished speaking, he looked at the killer rats baring their gaping, bloody maws. It seems I’m dead for sure this time. Even though I begged for mercy and told them I have zombie poison, they’re just animals. How could they possibly understand me?

Just as the assistant felt his end was near, the killer rats surrounding him began to speak.

The leader, a fat-headed rat, declared, ”This human looks a bit old, but his flesh is plump. I’ll take his two fattest parts: his buttocks.”

A one-eared rat at the front sized up the assistant and said, ”Since Big Brother is eating his buttocks, I’ll take his two thighs.”

Another rat in the middle, this one with no nose, licked its lips as it stared at the assistant’s feet. ”I’ve always loved pickled chicken feet, so today, I’ll eat this human’s feet.”

Hearing the killer rats talk, the assistant gulped. ”What the hell? How can rats talk? Have they become demons?”

On the high platform not far away, Zhao Rong also heard the rats speaking and immediately turned to question Black Ghost. ”How can rats talk? Could they be magical beast rats from Demon Beast Mountain?”

With that, Zhao Rong jumped down from the platform, ready to rescue the assistant.

Black Ghost’s eyes widened, his brow furrowed. ”Oh my god… so not only did these little sewer rats mutate, but they also started cultivating…”

After Zhao Rong landed, he waved at Black Ghost up on the platform. ”Get down here, quickly! I need to use my Mysterious-rank, high-level Martial Technique, Strike Across the Mountain Fist. My fist technique won’t work without someone in the middle.”

Hearing Zhao Rong ask him to come down, Black Ghost couldn’t help but think, What does this kid want me down here for? Is he planning to use me as bait? To sacrifice me, Black Ghost, to save the assistant?

So, Black Ghost stood on the platform, shook his head, and said, ”I’m not going to be a scapegoat for the assistant.”

I’m not coming down. It’s not like anyone can push me, right? he thought, snickering to himself.

Before he could even finish his laugh, Wang Meili, who was standing behind him, kicked him right off the high platform.

When Zhao Rong saw Black Ghost fall from the platform right after he had called for him, he helped the man to his feet and gave him a thumbs-up. ”Black Ghost, I never expected you to be such a loyal and righteous hero. You came down the moment I asked.”

Black Ghost replied aggrievedly, ”Actually, I didn’t want to be a scapegoat. But some son of a bitch kicked me, and I fell…”

Zhao Rong had no time to worry about that now. He grabbed Black Ghost, aimed him at the killer rats surrounding the assistant, and roared, ”Strike Across the Mountain Fist!”

Then, Zhao Rong slammed a heavy punch into Black Ghost’s stomach.

At that exact moment, the fat-headed leader rat was about to charge forward and bite off the assistant’s butt when it was suddenly struck by an inexplicable force. It flew backward violently, smashing into the sewer wall. Following that, the other three or four killer rats nearby were sent flying one after another by Zhao Rong’s same technique.

The assistant, who had been bracing for death, saw the rats that had been lunging at him suddenly fly up one by one and crash into the wall, dead. He closed his eyes and thought, Am I the chosen one, destined not to die? Is that why an immortal from beyond the heavens has come to save me?

Just as he was getting lost in his fantasy, Zhao Rong rushed over and slapped him awake. ”What are you waiting for? Run! Didn’t you see another dozen killer rats charging over from behind?”

Seeing Zhao Rong, the assistant finally understood. The mysterious force from before was actually Zhao Rong executing his Martial Technique, the Strike Across the Mountain Fist. Snapping back to his senses, the assistant thanked Zhao Rong profusely for saving his life while following him in a dash toward the high platform.

Black Ghost ran over as well. He looked at Zhao Rong with a fawning grin and said, ”Great hero Zhao Rong, that punch to my stomach was incredible! It was even more thrilling than the… movie I secretly watched yesterday. Hero, can you hit me a few more times? Help me reach a climax…”

Stunned, Zhao Rong stared at Black Ghost before sending him flying with a kick. ”Damn it! I’ve seen shameless people before, but I’ve never met anyone as depraved as you!”

As it happened, the kicked Black Ghost landed squarely on a hidden mechanism. All of a sudden, a door slid open on the sewer wall…

And inside the door was another world.
