Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 207: Chapter 178: A Dark Green Elixir

When Jingjing opened the nightstand drawer, she found a framed photograph laid flat inside. She picked it up without hesitation. The photograph showed Zhao Rong with four women—Lili, Yu Lan, Xuelian, and Tao Hua. It had been taken right after he moved into the villa, and he kept it in the drawer as a memento. As Jingjing held the photo up, she was stunned. Her eyes widened as she stared at the young man standing in the middle, surrounded by the four beautiful women.

This man must be the owner of the villa, she thought. But how could one person have four girlfriends? Then again, who could blame him? He’s clearly outstanding. So young, yet able to afford such an expensive villa and renovate it so luxuriously, so high-end, with such a masculine touch.

Just then, Zhao Rong entered, holding various herbs for making an elixir. The moment Jingjing saw him, she realized that the man in the photo was the spitting image of the young security guard before her. She instinctively looked again at the man in the photo, then scrutinized Zhao Rong with his playful grin and hands full of herbs.

In an instant, Jingjing’s eyes widened. She looked at Zhao Rong and said, ”Little security guard... you couldn’t be the owner of this villa, could you?”

When he heard her, Zhao Rong immediately saw that Jingjing was holding the photo of him with the four women.

I absolutely cannot let her know that I’m the man in the photo, he thought frantically. If she opens the second drawer and sees my DVD collection and... that personal device... it would be utterly humiliating!

So, Zhao Rong promptly denied it. ”Miss Jingjing, you must be mistaken. How could I possibly be the owner? This villa is worth tens of millions. How could a poor security guard like me afford it?”

”But the man in the photo looks exactly like you,” she said, frowning.

Zhao Rong placed the herbs into a pressure cooker and replied, ”Miss Jingjing, there are so many people in China. It’s not uncommon for people to have doppelgängers. Please don’t misunderstand. I’m not the owner of this villa; I’m just a broke security guard with nothing to my name.”

Jingjing studied the little security guard’s face, then glanced back at the charismatic man in the photo, who was surrounded by beautiful women. ”I guess you’re not him,” she conceded. ”Look, the man in the photo isn’t that tall, but he has a great body. His skin isn’t very fair, but he looks just like the Korean star Yuan Bin. Besides, he must be incredibly wealthy... A man like that—great physique, handsome, rich... If only I could date him and live with him, that would be a dream come true.”

Hearing the beautiful woman fantasize about living with him, Zhao Rong was on the verge of confessing that he was, in fact, the man in the photo. But just as he was about to speak, he saw her start to open the second drawer. ”Miss Jingjing, I’m definitely not the man in the photo! Please don’t get the wrong idea,” he blurted out.

As Jingjing opened the second drawer, she discovered a large collection of DVDs. Lying next to them was a man’s personal device.

Zhao Rong froze, his face burning with embarrassment. Thank god I didn’t admit I’m the guy in the photo, he thought. What would she think of me if she knew I kept these things hidden in my drawer?

Jingjing picked up the DVD cases, her eyes scanning the risqué covers. ”Wow,” she exclaimed. ”I can’t believe the owner of this villa watches these kinds of movies.”

Zhao Rong braced himself. Here it comes. She’s going to call the owner a disgusting, shameless pervert.

But to Zhao Rong’s astonishment, Jingjing examined the DVDs with an expression of understanding. ”I’m surprised,” she said thoughtfully. ”The owner of this villa is actually a very considerate man. He doesn’t watch the really extreme stuff, just these therapeutic films. And this lead actress, an actress named Yoshioka, is someone I actually admire...”

Hearing her assessment, Zhao Rong promptly fainted. As he scrambled back to his feet, he thought, Holy crap. I can’t believe watching these movies, something so private and embarrassing, actually got me praised for being a considerate man!

Next, Jingjing pulled the personal device that Zhao Rong had bought online out of the drawer. When Zhao Rong saw Jingjing holding it, his face turned beet red.

This is it, he thought. She’s definitely going to call me a depraved beast and a pervert now. I mean, who hides something like this in their room?

Zhao Rong held his breath, waiting for Jingjing to lambast the villa’s owner—himself. Instead, she gave an imaginary person a thumbs-up. ”I really didn’t expect this,” she said, impressed. ”The owner is so wealthy and surrounded by beautiful women, yet he still uses a personal device. He doesn’t bother anyone or go out looking for other women. He must be a true gentleman, a good man. The kind of man worth committing your life to...”

At that, Zhao Rong fainted again. He grabbed the edge of the nightstand to pull himself up. ”Miss Jingjing, you’re too kind-hearted! The owner of this villa hides DVDs and a personal device in his room, and you’re complimenting him for being a good man?”

Jingjing gazed at the man in the photo, a dreamy look in her eyes. ”Men, especially between the ages of twenty and thirty, have needs and desires that are magnified infinitely... But this man, the owner of this villa, is able to exercise self-control and take care of his own needs without going out and hurting anyone. For that reason alone, if I ever met him, I would willingly marry him and devote my life to him.”

Hearing Jingjing profess her desire to marry him, Zhao Rong began to fantasize about their wedding night. Just as his imagination reached the point of blowing out the candles and climbing into bed with her...

Jingjing suddenly clutched her chest. ”Oh no,” she said, her face contorting in pain. ”It feels like my breast cancer has spread. Why does it hurt so much?”

Seeing her pained expression and thinking of the torment she endured, Zhao Rong said immediately, ”Jingjing, lie down on the bed and wait a moment. I’ll make you an elixir right now.”

With that, Zhao Rong retrieved a strange flame from his Magic Ring, placed it under the pressure cooker, sealed the lid, and began refining the Elixir to treat Jingjing’s breast cancer. He focused all his attention, using every ounce of his strength to refine the medicine without a moment’s rest. An hour passed, then two, then three.

The night deepened. After the wave of pain subsided, Jingjing slowly drifted off to sleep. Only Zhao Rong remained, drenched in sweat as he worked. Refining an Elixir to treat cancer was incredibly taxing, consuming immense physical and mental energy, as well as a great deal of True Qi. But Zhao Rong was determined to succeed, even if it meant collapsing from exhaustion and depleting all his True Qi. He knew that saving a life creates more merit than building a seven-story pagoda. As a man, he couldn’t stand by and watch this beautiful young woman waste away.

After toiling for half the night and expending nearly all of his strength, Zhao Rong finally produced a single, dark green Elixir. By now, he was not only sweating profusely, but his entire body was soaked through, right down to his underwear which clung uncomfortably to his skin.

I finally succeeded in making the elixir for Jingjing, he thought, cradling the pill in his palm as he wiped the sweat from his brow.

As he brought the Elixir to her, he suddenly recalled a detail from the alchemy manual: for the best effect, the Elixir should be taken with the residual liquid from the refining process. At the same time, one must not drink too much of the liquid, or it could lead to uncontrollable desire.

Zhao Rong found an empty mineral water bottle and filled it with the remaining liquid from the pressure cooker. With the Elixir in his left hand and the bottle in his right, he returned to Jingjing’s bedside. At that exact moment, the pain from her cancer jolted her awake. When she saw Zhao Rong standing over her holding the Elixir, she pleaded, her will to live burning bright, ”Little security guard, please save me, whether it works or not.”

Hearing her plea, Zhao Rong placed the Elixir in her mouth and helped her take a sip of the liquid from the bottle. After swallowing the medicine, Jingjing felt an immediate sense of relief. The unbearable pain was completely gone. Moreover, where she had once felt weak and listless, she now felt invigorated and full of strength.

She instinctively touched her breast. The lumps that had been there before had miraculously vanished. The disappearance of the lumps meant the tumors were gone.

Suddenly, Jingjing grabbed Zhao Rong’s hand and placed it on her chest. ”Little security guard, you really are a Divine Doctor! Feel this... the lumps on my breast, they’re all gone!”

Startled by her forceful action, Zhao Rong felt her chest and mumbled, ”Are there lumps? All I feel is softness...”

”Little security guard,” Jingjing said, flustered, ”I asked you to feel for the lumps...”

Realizing his mistake, Zhao Rong awkwardly shifted his hand. ”Right... it seems there are no lumps anymore.”

”Divine Doctor,” Jingjing said, exasperated. ”If you can cure my breast cancer, how can you not feel that the lumps are gone?”

As she spoke, she felt a sudden thirst, grabbed the mineral water bottle beside the bed, and began to gulp down the liquid inside.

When Zhao Rong saw her drinking from the bottle, he panicked. ”Jingjing, don’t drink that! It’s the leftover liquid from the refining! The alchemy manual says it contains ingredients that make it a kind of springtime medicine!”

But before he could finish, Jingjing had already drained the bottle. ”What? No way,” she said, wiping her mouth. ”This drink is delicious. How could you call it ’springtime medicine’?”

Zhao Rong stared at her flushed cheeks, her alluring expression, and her soul-capturing gaze.

Oh no, he thought. The medicine is already taking effect.

Before Zhao Rong could say another word, Jingjing threw her arms around him. Her body felt feverishly hot as she whispered, ”Little security guard... I... want you...”
