Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 212: Chapter 181 Dog Head Gold_2

In disbelief, she took a closer look at the cancer detector, a state-of-the-art piece of technology. Then, she reached out again to feel the lump in her daughter’s breast. When she found that the lump had truly vanished and the detector confirmed that every single cancer cell in her daughter’s body was gone, the principal’s wife burst into tears.

She turned and threw her arms around Zhao Rong, crying as she thanked him. ”Young security guard, I brought you here without any real hope at all. I never imagined you were truly a Divine Doctor! You performed a miracle and snatched my daughter from the jaws of death...”

The principal’s wife was hugging him so tightly he could barely breathe. Gasping for air, Zhao Rong said, ”Auntie, please, it was nothing. Saving a life is more virtuous than building a seven-tiered pagoda. Curing the sick and saving lives is the duty of us security guards...”

Hearing that curing the sick was a security guard’s duty, the principal’s wife found the statement a bit strange. Nevertheless, she continued to praise him generously, ”Young security guard, I really don’t know how to thank you. She’s my only daughter, my precious girl. I was certain I would suffer the grief of outliving my own child, but I never expected a young security guard from the school to be so incredibly capable...”

Standing nearby, her daughter Jingjing saw that her mother’s emotional embrace was suffocating Zhao Rong, whose face was turning red. She quickly stepped forward and loosened her mother’s grip. ”Mom,” she said, ”do you finally believe that this security guard really cured my breast cancer?”

The principal’s wife nodded, wiping away her tears. She then stunned everyone by suddenly kneeling before Zhao Rong. ”Benefactor, you saved my daughter’s life, which is the same as saving mine. Just you wait, I will reward you handsomely...”

With that, she rushed out of the bedroom to the family safe. Moments later, she returned with several gold bars and offered them to Zhao Rong, saying, ”Young security guard, please take these gold bars. They are a token of our family’s gratitude for saving her life.”

Zhao Rong looked at the gold bars in her hands and politely pushed them away. ”Auntie, I’m just happy that I could cure your daughter’s cancer. As long as you and your daughter can live happily and contribute to society, I am content.”

Seeing that Zhao Rong was actually refusing her gold, the principal’s wife thought for a moment before insisting, ”Young security guard, don’t worry. These gold bars are heirlooms passed down through our family. They aren’t from some illicit source. Please, take them...” As she spoke, she stuffed the gold bars into Zhao Rong’s pants pocket.

Zhao Rong promptly pulled the gold bars out of his pocket and tactfully refused again. ”Auntie, I really cannot accept your gold bars.”

Seeing that he was still refusing, the principal’s wife immediately marched back to the safe. This time, she came rushing back with several gold bricks. ”Security Master, if you think the gold bars aren’t valuable enough, then you must accept these gold bricks!”

When Zhao Rong saw her approaching with gold bricks, he immediately and courteously declined. ”Auntie, whether it’s gold bars or gold bricks, I can’t take them.”

Jingjing, who was standing beside them, chimed in to persuade him. ”Security Brother, don’t be afraid. Our family used to be landlords. These gold bars and gold bricks are all ancestral heirlooms; they’re perfectly legal.”

The principal’s wife continued to press him, ”Security Master, if you really don’t care for gold bricks, then I’ll just have to go get you the dog-head gold.”

Dog-head gold is an invaluable treasure, a naturally formed gold nugget that resembles the head of a dog.

However, Zhao Rong didn’t know this. He assumed it was even less valuable than the gold bars. He was momentarily stunned and was just about to politely refuse everything once and for all. But when the principal’s wife saw his stunned expression, she mistook it as a sign that he wanted the dog-head gold. She hurried back to the safe, took out a piece, and presented it to Zhao Rong. ”Security Master, this piece of dog-head gold is a true treasure. Since you don’t want the gold bars or the gold bricks, please accept this.”

Zhao Rong didn’t recognize what dog-head gold was. As he looked at the smallish, dog-head-shaped rock in her hands, it just looked like a piece of gold-bearing iron ore.

Gold bars and gold bricks are high-purity Gold, so they must be extremely expensive and are a stable currency. For a humble security guard like me, accepting such a valuable gift is just too much.

Looking at the piece of ore, Zhao Rong finally said, ”Auntie, your hospitality is truly overwhelming. Since you insist so graciously, I’ll accept this piece of dog-head gold then.”

Anyway, compared to pure Gold bars and bricks, this dog-head gold must be the least valuable of the lot. I’ll just take this small token. That way, my modesty won’t seem excessive, and I won’t make her feel like her kindness is being scorned.

With that thought, Zhao Rong took the dog-head gold from the principal’s wife and placed it into his Magic Ring.

When the principal’s wife saw the young security guard reject the gold bars and bricks in favor of the dog-head gold, she immediately gave him a thumbs-up.

This security guard truly has an eye for treasure! A single piece of dog-head gold is worth thousands, even tens of thousands, of gold bricks.

After accepting the payment, Zhao Rong let out a huge yawn and said, ”Auntie, the sun’s up. Your daughter is cured, so it’s time for me to go.”

Hearing he was leaving, Jingjing tried to get him to stay. ”Security Brother, since you’re already here, can’t you stay for a few more days?”

Hearing this, Zhao Rong took a letter from his pocket. ”Jingjing, there’s something you don’t know,” he said, showing her the written challenge. ”I beat up a disciple of the Wild Wolf Sect—the guy with the snooty nose from the Imperial BBQ—so now his elder brother, Hector, a rising star of the new generation in their sect, wants to duel me. Hector is a level thirty cultivator, while I’m only level twenty-two. I have to find a place to train hard for a few days and get to at least level twenty-five. Otherwise, how could I possibly defeat a level thirty cultivator?”

Listening to the young security guard’s explanation, Jingjing reluctantly said, ”Security Brother, please be careful on your journey.”

Zhao Rong smiled at Jingjing and said, ”We’ll meet again.”

With that, he turned to leave. He had only taken two steps, however, when Jingjing suddenly said to her mother, ”Mom, have you forgotten the promise you made to Security Brother?”

The principal’s wife said awkwardly, ”I said that if this young security guard could cure your cancer, I would give you to him in marriage. Not only would I ask for no betrothal gift, but I’d even include a villa as a dowry...”

Upon hearing this, Jingjing immediately called out to Zhao Rong, ”Security Brother, wait! My mother and I have something to tell you...”

Zhao Rong turned back around, completely puzzled.

Didn’t she already give me a piece of dog-head gold? Why is she asking me to stay? Could the principal’s wife really be planning to marry her daughter to me?
