Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 991: Chapter 987: Slapping the Face

The video continued to play, even though Huo Sining had already adjusted the playback speed.

Soon, clusters of fish eggs attached to the aquatic plants began to change, gradually turning from transparent to deep brown. Not long after, tiny life forms the size of tadpoles broke through their shells. Though they were less than a centimeter long, these little creatures swimming like sprites in the water still made people hold their breath and focus intently.

The cycle then repeated the growth path of their parents. These newborn koi grew little by little, from one centimeter to three inches, from three inches to half a foot.

Almost everyone was astonished to discover that the offspring derived from those four Huaxia Koi did not suffer any genetic loss due to sexual reproduction. On the contrary, each of the second-generation koi had the red and white brocade features of their parental lineage.

These features not only persisted but became even more vivid. When they reached a length of four or five inches, the red and white patterns were already very distinct. Anyone familiar with koi would not doubt that such perfectly expressed red and white koi, upon maturing into even more graceful adult fish, would have even more exquisite and alluring patterns, shining brilliantly.

After watching this video, no one raised any objections. Even Nagayama Kaiyuki, who had been full of self-satisfaction, was now silent with his lips pressed tightly together. His face, however, was extremely pale. Huo Sining’s video caught him completely off guard, leaving him with no tricks to respond.

Huo Sining lifted her head, looking down at Nagayama Kaiyuki: ”This video was recorded with a high-definition camera I set up at home, and the twenty samples I brought here are the offspring bred from those four koi.”

”Mr. Nagayama, I wonder if my evidence can convince you?”

Nagayama Kaiyuki’s complexion was somewhat sullen. He looked up at Huo Sining, as if unable to defend himself and resorting to reckless troublemaking, nitpicking:

”Videos can be edited too; who can say for sure you didn’t use some computer technology to synthesize this video? Who can prove that these koi were actually hatched from that mother fish?”

”Isn’t this question a bit ignorant, Mr. Nagayama, you’re an expert—don’t you even know about basic DNA identification? Proving whether these koi are the second generation of the parent fish is an incredibly simple matter.”

Huo Sining smiled mockingly at Nagayama Kaiyuki, seemingly ridiculing how foolish his question was, making his face flush red with both shame and anger as he looked at Huo Sining.

However, Huo Sining didn’t mind. These people caused trouble at Zhou Zeping’s symposium, even daring to smash the samples, so she never intended to give face to the people from the Huaxia Research Institute. Given this, why should she be tolerant and try to smooth things over?

”The fact proves that traditional Huaxia Koi can also produce excellent red and white variations, and their quality is not inferior to any Dongyang Koi. Moreover, Dongyang Koi has a major advantage, which is stable genetic inheritance.”

”As far as I know, Dongyang Koi were actually bred through hybridization and do not have relatively stable genetic inheritance. Therefore, selecting a top-grade koi requires sorting through thousands of finished products, which is a low probability and resource-wasting process.”

”But Huaxia Koi are different. Take these twenty samples before me. Whether in terms of lineage, structure, coloration, pattern, or swimming posture, they are absolutely unmatched, perfect choices. The reason for this result, I believe everyone here understands—it completely depends on genetic inheritance. Thus, the stability of genetic inheritance is crucial for koi research, which is also the focus and key of our Huaxia Koi research project.”

Huo Sining’s concluding remarks led the entire symposium to a climax, leaving the Dongyang professors and students below stage dumbfounded, with only a few international students attending the symposium beginning to clap sparsely.

No applause did not mean the symposium was not exciting. A few American international students, after packing up their cameras, showed faces full of excitement, as if they had stumbled upon big news.

”Fantastic, this is definitely groundbreaking global news. Clus, we must hurry back and put together today’s report. I’m confident that such a valuable scoop will not be rejected by the New York Times or Science magazine for their headlines!”

”This Huaxia girl was so fierce, giving the Dongyang people a direct slap. I bet this news could never be published on Waseda University’s BBS because it’s too embarrassing!”

”What’s the girl’s name? Oh my God, she’s so cool. John, what do I do? I think I’m falling for her. She’s simply like Artemis, a total goddess, too awesome!”

”Hahaha, you didn’t see it, that guy Nagayama Kaiyuki claimed to be a chief professor. His high-and-mighty posture at the start was too overbearing, only to be turned around and slapped by a student. I even feel a bit sorry for him. Look at his face, truly remarkable!”

”...”

Huo Sining didn’t know, in less than a day, she would become famous throughout the scientific community. Koi enthusiasts worldwide would pay attention to her. At this moment, using clear logic and composed words, she turned the tide and concluded what could be described as both a chaotic and brilliant symposium. Only then did Huo Sining realize she had done something quite inappropriate.

This was supposed to be Zhou Zeping’s main stage. He was the senior professor in charge of the entire koi project, yet he was overshadowed by Huo Sining. Not only did he not get to continue the symposium, but even the opportunity for the final concluding remarks was taken away.

Huo Sining suddenly felt a knot in her heart, quickly walked up to Zhou Zeping, and said with great embarrassment: ”Professor, I... I’m really sorry, I was too angry just now. I lost my composure and messed up your symposium. I really didn’t mean to. You see...”

Huo Sining knew all too well what some domestic professors were like, and now having overstepped, she was worried that Zhou Zeping might be upset. So even though her actions were to uphold the dignity of the S University Research Institute, she felt the need to sincerely apologize to Zhou Zeping.

Seeing Huo Sining being so cautious, Zhou Zeping actually smiled: ”No, you don’t have to apologize to me. What you did today was right. Without you, this symposium really would have been ruined with my capabilities. Your performance just now was excellent, calm, and confident. It reminded me of the quality and hope of our young generation in Huaxia. You are the pride of our S University Research Institute, and the pride of all Huaxia people.”
