Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 966: Chapter 962 Clues?

Huo Sining was somewhat surprised. This Feng Jinglin obviously seemed like a very capable person, so why would he need her help?

”What is it?” Huo Sining asked with curiosity.

Feng Jinglin smiled and handed a piece of paper and a bank card to Huo Sining, ”My mother is in Huaxia, and I haven’t been back for many years. So, I want to ask you, if you have the time, could you please go to this place and give this to my mother.”

Hearing Feng Jinglin’s strange request, Huo Sining was even more puzzled, ”Why don’t you go back yourself? With your circumstances, returning shouldn’t be a difficult task, right? You could even bring your mother to live in Dongdu.”

Feng Jinglin fell silent for a moment, as if recalling memories from many years ago, and his expression was slightly bitter:

”Because of some issues, I failed my mother’s expectations. She probably won’t forgive me anymore. I tried in the past few years, but she couldn’t let it go. I’m afraid to go back, so I can only entrust this task to you.”

Huo Sining was a bit confused. Between a mother and son, surely there isn’t a grudge that lasts overnight? How did Feng Jinglin and his mother come to this point?

But ultimately, this was someone else’s private matter. Huo Sining didn’t want to pry, so she just nodded in agreement, ”I understand. I will definitely deliver the item for you.”

After finishing a meal with Feng Jinglin, Huo Sining left, only to be stopped before she even reached the street corner.

The person blocking her wasn’t just anyone — it was Nohara Sa, who had previously investigated her at Qianye Fishing Village.

”Miss Huo, I’m sorry to bother you.”

Huo Sining wanted to roll her eyes. If you knew it was intrusive, why are you here? Your face must be quite thick.

Nohara Sa’s gaze was fixed on Huo Sining, ”May I ask who Miss Huo just had a meal with?”

Nohara Sa, staking out outside the restaurant, saw a man across from Huo Sining seemingly hand over something like a bank card to her, which suddenly excited Nohara Sa. He felt he might have stumbled upon the key to solving the case. That man was likely one of the smugglers, and what he handed over to Huo Sining must have been the commission payment for the smuggled machinery.

Nohara Sa was overthinking things, but Huo Sining wasn’t cooperating. She laughed disdainfully at Nohara Sa, ”Officer, is it illegal for me to have a meal with someone? That’s my privacy, and I can refuse to answer.”

”You!” Nohara Sa was choked by Huo Sining’s arrogant attitude, his eyes almost set aflame, ”We suspect you’re involved in a smuggling case. Miss Huo, we hope you can cooperate with our work, otherwise——”

”Otherwise what?” Huo Sining looked at Nohara Sa with a half-smile, ”You officers should have a proper procedure for handling cases, right? If you say I’m involved in a smuggling case, where’s the evidence? If you arrest someone without evidence, I can sue you for defamation in court!”

Nohara Sa hadn’t expected Huo Sining to be so sharp-tongued. Just as he was about to say something more, his phone suddenly rang, ”Nohara, come back quickly; you’ve got it wrong! That person wasn’t a smuggler!”

”What?” Nohara Sa’s face changed suddenly, casting a surprised glance at Huo Sining, then unwillingly turned and ran quickly down another street.

”What’s going on?” Nohara Sa hadn’t gone far when he turned into an alley where a police car was parked. He opened the car door and got inside, with a sullen face he asked his companion.

The companion was also frustrated, ”I just sent the recorded video to the Police Department. They quickly analyzed and investigated the identity of the man eating with Huo Sining. His name is Feng Jinglin, a Huaxia person, a famous lawyer in Dongdu, with a law firm, earning tens of millions a month. He is quite wealthy and definitely not one of the smugglers you mentioned.”

Upon hearing this, Nohara Sa frowned, ”But I clearly saw him hand a bank card to that Huo Sining. This person might be an accomplice of those smugglers, even if he’s not a participant, he could be an accessory!”

Seeing Nohara Sa still obstinately clinging to the notion, the companion sighed, ”No, I just inquired with the restaurant’s staff. Though the staff was a bit far from Huo Sining’s table, they vaguely heard something. That Feng Jinglin handed Miss Huo a card, intending for her to take it to his mother back in the country.”

”It’s said that Feng Jinglin had a falling out with his mother over family matters, and she refused to forgive him. Therefore, he’s afraid to return and can only entrust this task to Huo Sining. Indeed, Feng Jinglin hasn’t left the country to return to Huaxia Country for many years. The Police Department has just confirmed this.”

Nohara Sa was stunned, ”Are you sure? Could it be that the server misheard or gave us false information?”

The companion was slightly taken aback by Nohara Sa’s words, ”Nohara, I’ve always thought you’re an elite of the police, entering the Police Department at such a young age by your ability, which I greatly admire. But handling cases can’t be done impulsively nor should personal emotions be involved; these are major taboos, do you understand?”

”I don’t understand why you’re so fixated on this Huaxia girl. Yes, she just happened to appear at Qianye Fishing Village, but what does that prove?”

”Look at the results of our surveillance over the past few days. Does she do anything out of the ordinary? Eating, attending classes, making friends, not a single thing has disrupted her rhythm. Your claim of her unraveling emotionally isn’t accurate in the least. The people you asked me to investigate — Hinata Chinatsu, Nara Nigawa, and even this Feng Jinglin — are all ordinary people with no connection to the smugglers you mentioned.”

”Since leaving Qianye Fishing Village, Huo Sining hasn’t returned there, which indicates what? It indicates that this case has nothing to do with her at all! How is a young girl supposed to relocate those items? Those machines couldn’t just vanish into thin air. Your speculation is simply absurd, and I think us monitoring her is purely a waste of time!”

Nohara Sa didn’t speak, his gaze was fixed far off on a street corner where Huo Sining’s figure was already gone, but he couldn’t forget her half-smiling expression.

Suddenly, a flash of insight struck Nohara Sa’s mind as if he had thought of something, he looked up urgently and asked, ”What did you just say, that Feng Jinglin had Huo Sining bring a bank card back to his mother?”

The police companion nodded in confusion, ”Yes, so what? Is there a problem?”

Nohara Sa suddenly slapped his thigh, as if having caught a mistake on the opposite side, he laughed loudly, ”There’s a problem, of course there’s a problem! Haven’t you understood the key point? The key to this matter is that this girl named Huo Sining is going to return to the country! That’s a clue!”
