The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1441: Chapter 1441: They Were After Me

Doctor Xie was particularly curious about Ah Ning’s master. She had met Elder Doctor Zhao a few times, but he only referred to himself as a traveling doctor and had no intention of a detailed introduction.

However, even without Elder Doctor Zhao’s word, Doctor Xie knew he was a highly skilled master healer in the world.

The illness of Young Master Tan was well-known by every doctor in Dongan Province. Old Master Tan and Madam had sought medical help everywhere, having consulted every doctor in the prefecture, including Doctor Xie.

But she couldn’t discern anything, only feeling that Young Master Tan’s condition was not an ordinary illness.

Recently, however, she heard that Young Master Tan had slightly improved, though she wasn’t aware that he had been poisoned. This matter was still confidential in the Tan Family since the perpetrator hadn’t been caught.

Nonetheless, Young Master Tan’s illness was treated by Elder Doctor Zhao, indicating that his medical skill surpassed all the doctors in Dongan Province.

When Elder Doctor Zhao visited the Renxin Clinic, Doctor Xie had once consulted him on a few medical issues. He was very kind, and after listening, she felt as if she suddenly understood everything.

No wonder she was rejected when she wanted to take Ah Ning as a disciple, in hindsight, she was indeed not yet qualified.

Nowadays, she felt a sense of camaraderie with Ah Ning, despite their twenty-year age difference.

Today was her rare day off. She originally intended to take Ah Ning around her home, but unexpectedly they encountered some robbers.

Doctor Xie felt very remorseful, and she said to Xia Yan and the others, ”Today’s incident is my fault, it scared Ah Ning. Those people came for me, and I dragged her into it.”

Xia Yan had already picked up Ah Ning, and the group quickly walked out of the alley.

Ah Ning obediently held Xia Yan’s neck, turned her head, and said, ”Sister Xie, don’t blame yourself, I wasn’t scared. Don’t worry.”

Meng Han found her really sweet, reaching out to hold her small hand.

Ah Ning looked at her suspiciously, and Meng Han just laughed at her.

Ah Ning also started laughing. Xia Yan didn’t notice the small interaction between them and just frowned, asking Doctor Xie, ”Were those people really coming for you?”

He thought they were coming for Elder Doctor Zhao and Ah Ning. Xia Yan knew some details about the poisoning of Young Master Tan and feared that the poisoner might harm Ah Ning.

Doctor Xie nodded, ”Yes, those people were thugs from the gambling den.” She said somewhat awkwardly, ”My father is a gambler, owed money to the gambling den, and couldn’t pay it back, so these people came looking for me, wanting me to pay for him.”

But how could she repay it? That man abandoned her, her mother, and her brothers when she was young, and they hadn’t been in contact for years. Their relationship was long severed. Now he suddenly returned, wanting her to clean up his mess? Impossible.

Meng Han finally stopped looking at Ah Ning and asked, ”I’ve heard the thugs from the gambling den are very ruthless. Since they didn’t achieve their goal this time, they’ll come looking for you again.”

Doctor Xie smiled and said, ”Don’t worry. I’m not a doctor for nothing. Over the years, I have built some connections in the prefecture, know quite a few people, and can find someone to help make the gambling den collect the debt from those who owe it. Actually, they just wanted to scare me to extort money and wouldn’t really dare to do anything to me.”

As a highly skilled female doctor in the prefecture, Doctor Xie was very popular among the noblewomen.

For some gynecological ailments that were not suitable for male doctors, they preferred to see Doctor Xie.

Doctor Xie had accumulated considerable goodwill over the years, making this matter easier to resolve.
