The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1414: Chapter 1414: So I Went and Smashed Up Her House

Tao Qin thought of this and couldn’t help but quietly clench her palm.

This was her first time being so close to a young man destined to be a key figure in the imperial court, and not only is he skilled in both literature and martial arts with a promising future, but he is also extremely handsome, more so than anyone she has ever seen.

Such an excellent man would move the heart of any woman.

Unfortunately, he is already betrothed, but it’s fine since they haven’t married. Moreover, she has a natural advantage. After all, her aunt and uncle are Uncle Meng and Aunt Meng of Meng Yunzheng, aren’t they?

Tao Qin took a deep breath, her gaze toward Meng Yunzheng growing increasingly fervent.

She couldn’t hold back and suddenly spoke up during a pause in Uncle Meng’s conversation, ”Lady Lu, I heard you were exiled once, is that true? Why? Did you commit some crime?”

As soon as these words left her mouth, everyone at the table fell silent, looking at Tao Qin in surprise.

Only Meng Yunzheng and Shu Yu kept their heads down, one peeling shrimp and the other eating food.

The dishes had been on the table for a while; if they didn’t hurry and eat, they would get cold, and the flavor would be dulled.

Tao Qin, seeing everyone silent, shrunk her neck, ”Did I, did I say something wrong? I’m sorry.”

She lowered her head.

Shu Yu, however, put down her chopsticks and smiled, ”No, you said nothing wrong. I was indeed exiled.”

She brought it up without any avoidance, leaving Tao Qin and others stunned.

Shu Yu finally looked at her, ”As for the reason, it’s not complicated. When I was a child, my grandmother sold me to the magistrate. Later, when the magistrate committed a crime, as their adopted daughter, I was implicated and exiled together with them.”

Tao Qin’s eyes widened, exclaiming, ”Ah? You were sold by your grandmother, how could she do that? Why, did she want you to have a good life?”

Shu Yu smiled, ”Of course not, she didn’t know who the buyer was, she did it for money.”

”Well, she was really awful then.”

Shu Yu nodded, ”Yes, so after I reconnected with my family, I went to her house with an axe and smashed it all up. Now, one of my uncles has lost a tooth, and the other, well, I broke his leg!!”

As she spoke the last few words, Shu Yu’s gaze was chilling.

Ms. Tao and Tao Qin felt an inexplicable shiver in their hearts, both leaning back slightly.

After recovering, they felt a bit annoyed, straightening their faces as they sat back upright.

Ms. Tao frowned and said, ”Shu Yu, not to interfere, but your grandmother was wrong, though she is still your elder. You, you were too ruthless.”

”Ruthless?” Shu Yu chuckled, looking at the two opposite.

Ms. Tao shook her head disapprovingly, while Tao Qin looked at Meng Yunzheng expectantly, as if hoping he would say something to scold her.

So, Shu Yu also looked at him, ”Yun, what do you think?”

Meng Yunzheng placed the bowl of peeled shrimp in front of her, ”Eat up.”

Then he wiped his hands with a handkerchief and lifted his head, thoughtfully saying, ”I think, since I also sent my foster father of over ten years to the guillotine, we’re really... a perfect match.”

”I think so too.” Shu Yu beamed, enjoying the shrimp he had peeled as she ate with gusto.

Meng Yunzheng then turned his head to look at Ms. Tao, ”Aunt, do you think I’m also ruthless?”

Ms. Tao’s expression stiffened, awkwardly smiling, ”How, how could that be? You were avenging your mother.”

Meng Han, who had been silent all this time, suddenly spoke up, ”Sister Shuyu was also avenging herself.”
