The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1419: Chapter 1419: As If Meng Yunzheng Were Already Part of Their Family

As she spoke, Meng Han felt increasingly uncomfortable.

She took a deep breath, ”Actually, when Eldest Uncle and Cousin first came back, I didn’t like them either, I even resisted them a lot. Because we already had an uncle leeching off our family, I didn’t want another one.”

”My mother kept saying in our ears that they were here to divide the inheritance and to kick us out. But later, Eldest Uncle left, and Cousin said he was going to take the imperial examinations. I felt kind of empty inside. They never intended to rely on my father, unlike Uncle. I began to wish Eldest Uncle would stay; maybe then, someone could restrain my mother, and Uncle wouldn’t always come around pretending to be poor.”

But Eldest Uncle still left. As soon as Eldest Aunt was laid to rest, they couldn’t wait to leave the Meng family.

Her mother was overjoyed, but she still suspected it was just a smokescreen by Meng Pei and his son, merely to lower her guard. So she feverishly moved things over to the Tao family, believing that was the safest place.

If her father hadn’t been home that time without going out on escort missions, she would have been even more excessive.

Later, Meng Yunzheng came back, saying he was here to participate in the county exam.

No one in the Meng family was optimistic, including Meng Han. Because the Meng family had never produced anyone good at studying for so many years.

Unexpectedly, Meng Yunzheng became the Top Scorer of the county exam, bringing great honor to the Meng family.

Uncle Meng was overjoyed, and the Tao family set their sights on Meng Yunzheng at that time. Ms. Tao thought it was a great idea, never even considering the fact that he already had a fiancée.

However, once Meng Yunzheng’s county exam results were announced, he went directly to the prefecture, and Ms. Tao thought they might as well wait for his prefecture exam results.

Again, he became the Top Scorer.

The Tao family was extremely excited, as if Meng Yunzheng were already one of their family.

When the prefecture exam results came out, Uncle Meng came to the prefecture. At that time, Ms. Tao wanted to come along, but unfortunately, due to the large temperature difference between morning and evening during that period, Ms. Tao caught a cold and naturally couldn’t leave the house.

But that didn’t stop her and the Tao family’s plan, and this time when the academy exam results were announced, she insisted on coming along no matter what.

Meng Han said, ”Originally, I didn’t plan to come. After all, I wasn’t very familiar with Cousin, and it felt strange to come uninvited. But my mother brought my cousin, and I was worried something might happen, so I insisted on coming along. Also, it was a good opportunity to ask Cousin for some advice.”

Who knew, Cousin’s fiancée was also there, and my cousin ended up completely outmatched in their confrontation.

Meng Han was almost happy enough to laugh out loud. She was obviously Ms. Tao’s daughter, yet she hoped Ms. Tao would mess up.

”Sister Shuyu, I’m really at my wit’s end. When I was young, she gave my food and toys to my cousin, as I grew older, my clothes and jewelry went to my cousin. I cried and made a fuss, almost ran away from home. But my mother only saw it as me being unreasonable; she thought I was childish and didn’t know how to build a good relationship with Uncle’s family. She thought Uncle would be my support in the future.”

What kind of support is that? More like a parasite; whoever wants them can take them. I’d rather be on my own than have Uncle’s family.

After hearing this, Shu Yu became contemplative, ”Logically, your father should handle this. Your mother moved things from the Meng family to her own family, and the person most capable of stopping her is your father, right? Telling him would be more effective than telling me.”

However, as soon as this was mentioned, Meng Han felt even more like crying.
