The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1437: Chapter 1437: The Calmer Xiao Family

Shu Yu saw his anxiety and didn’t keep him in suspense, revealing the decision of the Dongqing Temple master.

Old Master Miao, upon hearing this, let out a long breath, sat back on the stone bench in a daze, and his lips curled slowly, showing a look of relief.

A moment later, he stood up again, clasped his hands to Shu Yu, and said, ”I know that the Dongqing Temple master would agree, all thanks to Monarch Lu Xiang’s intercession. Miao is very grateful to Monarch Lu Xiang for the help.”

Shu Yu waved his hand, ”There’s no need for such formality, Old Master Miao. My master also asked me to convey a few words to you.”

She conveyed the exact words the Dongqing Temple master said back then.

Old Master Miao listened and remained silent for a long time.

After a long while, he looked up and smiled, ”The temple master is indeed worthy of the title; she is right. Nowadays, in Dongan Province, I’m afraid they might have forgotten about someone like me. After many years of hard work, seeing the decline, I was indeed anxious and irritable at first, but later, I came to terms. If I have to abandon all my wealth to bring my sister back to life, I would do so without hesitation. But I know that’s impossible. Now, staying away from those unethical businesses can at least give my sister some peace in the afterlife.”

This way is also quite good; he feels life isn’t as burdensome as before.

Moreover, now that his sister’s matter of the longevity lamp is resolved, he has nothing more to worry about or be troubled by.

Shu Yu had to visit the Xiao Family, so after clearing up the confusion in her heart, she said to Old Master Miao, ”Since you happen to be at Dongqing Temple today, please wait for me. I’ll go find Senior Sister Qiu to convey my master’s message to her. Then, you and Senior Sister Qiu can discuss whether to move the longevity lamp today or select a better day for it.”

Old Master Miao’s eyes brightened, ”Alright, thank you, Monarch Lu Xiang.”

Shu Yu nodded and got up to head towards the main hall.

Senior Sister Qiu was as busy as ever, but upon seeing Shu Yu, she still instructed other Daoist nuns in their work and went with her to the side room to talk.

”Last time you mentioned going to find the temple master; did you find her?” Daoist Nun Qiu poured her a cup of water and asked with concern.

Shu Yu nodded, ”I saw him and even had a conversation with my master. My master entrusted me with a letter to give to you.”

Daoist Nun Qiu was a bit surprised and hadn’t expected that she actually found the person.

She hurriedly took the letter and opened it to read.

The letter didn’t contain much; besides addressing Old Master Miao’s matter, it also mentioned some affairs in the temple.

After reading it, Daoist Nun Qiu put it away, ”Alright, I’ll take care of it.”

”Old Master Miao is just outside the hall, Sister, you can discuss with him while I go to the backyard to check on my friend.”

Daoist Nun Qiu waved her hand, ”Go ahead, will you be eating here at noon?”

”Sure.”

Daoist Nun Qiu went out, and Shu Yu saw Old Master Miao eagerly approaching to speak with her, so she didn’t go over but turned and walked towards the backyard.

Meeting Xiao Family again, she found her demeanor different from the last time.

The first time she met Xiao Family, she still had a proud demeanor.

Last time she saw Xiao Family, not only had her figure become thin, but she also appeared dejected and nervous.

Now, however, Xiao Family seemed exceptionally peaceful.

It seems recuperating in this temple is a very suitable place for her, both physically and mentally.

Xiao Family poured her a cup of herbal tea, ”This is what I picked myself from the back mountain. The weather is hot, so it dried quickly. It’s very fragrant; try it.”

Xiao Family, being the eldest daughter of the Xiao Family, was also professionally trained in tea-making. Shu Yu found it rare to taste such authentic and mellow tea.
