The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1403: Chapter 1403: Old Master Miao Has Fallen into Hard Times

Shu Yu, with a serious expression, shared the information she had gathered, ”Ever since we met with Old Master Miao, I’m not sure if it was our discussion that influenced him or if he wanted to prove himself so you’d agree to his request. Anyway, since then, Old Master Miao has significantly changed his conduct.”

It’s not that he suddenly turned upright, but his methods are no longer as extreme and ruthless as before; they have become much more gentle.

At least, there haven’t been any cases of coercion into prostitution at his brothel, and the bouncers and the madam at the brothel have also been much more protective of the girls and the male prostitutes.

But business is still ongoing.

However, at the end of last year when the former emperor passed away, and his brothel was closed for several months, Old Master Miao suddenly started seeking other avenues.

”As far as I know, over the past half year, he has tried running a cloth shop, opening a vehicle shop, and building a restaurant, but none seem to have succeeded.”

It’s a strange phenomenon. Shu Yu even feels as if Old Master Miao’s luck has suddenly vanished.

A brothel owner like him, to say nothing of his methods, intelligence, contacts, the money he has access to... Even in the prefecture, with all the established industry chains, Old Master Miao shouldn’t be completely defeated, right?

It seems his only viable path is running brothels.

Yet Old Master Miao stubbornly refuses to accept this, relentlessly trying to develop other industries, investing more and more money, only to suffer greater losses.

He is no longer operating in the prefecture; he has moved to the nearby county town.

It’s quiet for now, and Shu Yu isn’t sure whether he’s settled in.

Honestly, she’s a bit worried. She knows something of Old Master Miao’s temperament. Given how fierce his methods were before, if he continues failing at whatever he tries, might he return to expanding his brothel empire, perhaps even more aggressively?

However, the Dongqing Temple master, after hearing her, slowly nodded, ”This is the price he has to pay.”

”What do you mean?”

”Since he wants to move his sister’s longevity lamp under the patriarch’s seat, how could that be accomplished with just a few words? Dispensing wealth is the basic requirement, an extremely small price. In the future, there will likely be no trace of him in Dongan Province.”

Shu Yu widened her eyes, ”Will Old Master Miao die?”

The Dongqing Temple master, with a hint of impatience, responded, ”When did your mind become sluggish? As your teacher, I merely stated there would be no trace of him in Dongan Province; I didn’t say there would be nowhere else. For his sister’s longevity lamp, must it cost him his life? But compared to his current lifestyle, the difference will certainly be significant.”

Shu Yu understood now; Old Master Miao’s brothel in Dongan Province might not continue, but he could manage other trades well in smaller towns and still live a decent life.

”But such a disparity, could it lead Old Master Miao back to the wrong path?”

The Dongqing Temple master, ”He’s older than you, having already been through what he has to go through; his thoughts are mature enough. What wrong path would he follow?”

If there were a wrong path, he had already walked it back then.

Upon hearing this, Shu Yu felt reassured as the Dongqing Temple master rose and walked to the door, calling the staff to bring over pen, ink, and paper for her use.

The staff quickly brought in a tray, and the Dongqing Temple master sat down to write a letter.

”I won’t be seeing Old Master Miao. As for his sister’s longevity lamp, have your Senior Sister Qiu move it. This letter is written to your Senior Sister Qiu; take it to her when you return.”

She wrote quickly, handing the letter to Shu Yu shortly thereafter.
