The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Capítulo 1422: Chapter 1422: Heart-to-Heart Words

Meng Yunzheng planned to return to the county town to go up the mountain alone, see his mother, and then return to Jiangyuan County. Before that, he would prepare everything, so he wouldn’t have to stay long in Chenggu County.

Uncle Meng thought it was reasonable and suggested Shu Yu accompany him.

At this moment, Ms. Tao, who had been silent, suddenly said, “Husband, why don’t you make them a list? Otherwise, these two young ones might not know what things to buy. You understand these matters, write it down for them so they don’t miss anything.”

“Alright, Yunzheng, let’s go to the study, and Uncle will write it down for you.”

“Okay.” Meng Yunzheng led Uncle Meng to the study.

As they left, Ms. Tao turned to Meng Han and instructed, “Make a pot of tea for your father and your cousin.”

Shu Yu said, “I’ll go.”

“Let her go.” Ms. Tao smiled, holding onto Shu Yu, “Ah Han is not young anymore, but she lacks insight. It’s time for her to practice, so she doesn’t really think she’s a lady.”

Shu Yu raised her eyebrow, curious about what exactly Ms. Tao was planning.

So, she said nothing more, but Meng Han glanced at her worriedly. Based on her understanding of Ms. Tao, she always felt her mother was up to something odd.

But since Ms. Tao pushed her out of the living room and it was a proper task like making tea, she couldn’t refuse and went to the kitchen.

As a result, Uncle Meng and Meng Yunzheng went to the study, Ying Xi and Xia Yan fed the horses and prepared the carriage, Meng Han went to make tea in the kitchen, and only the three of them were left in the living room.

Ms. Tao finally let go of Shu Yu’s hand. She and Tao Qin’s previously smiling expressions abruptly vanished, as if changing faces, dramatically.

Shu Yu turned to them, “Aunt, do you have something to say to me?”

“Yes.” Ms. Tao nodded, then with a sincere and earnest expression, she said, “Shu Yu, I know I said some things yesterday that made you unhappy. My husband also talked to me after we returned to the inn, telling me to get along well with you, as you are Yunzheng’s future wife and will become part of the Meng family.”

“I have thought it over carefully. Since we are family, as an elder, some heartfelt words must be said.”

Shu Yu looked at her pretending posture and nodded, “Aunt, say what you need to say.”

Ms. Tao sighed, “You see, Yunzheng is very talented in his studies. He has already excelled in the imperial exams on his first attempt. With his achievements, he will eventually become an official in the imperial court, right?”

Not really. Yun’s future plans didn’t include becoming an official.

But Shu Yu didn’t speak, just quietly watching her.

Ms. Tao continued, “As an experienced woman, I’ve seen a lot. With Yunzheng’s future accomplishments and appearance, he is far from ordinary, potentially becoming a marquis or prime minister. But look, the imperial court officials through history all have several wives and concubines, don’t they?”

“Not to mention the court officials, even those with some fame often have a female friend by their side, with women desperately trying to get close to them.”

“You’re engaged to Yunzheng now, but that engagement is useless. When he becomes an official, superiors will gift him women. Yunzheng will have to accept them whether he wants to or not. You’ll have to face this sooner or later, right?”

Shu Yu laughed, “So Aunt wants to tell me this? Is this why you’re eagerly trying to match Tao Qin with Yun?”

As she spoke, she glanced at Tao Qin.
