My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1596: Chapter 1390: Life and Death

Zhang Yichen never imagined that his son would have such capabilities. Deep down, he believed his son wouldn’t do such things. But when he heard his son saying these words, he realized he’d been wrong all these years. It turned out his son had a detached heart and, deep down, could easily disregard family ties. He could ignore everyone’s affairs and well-being at home as long as everyone could be happy, and those he cared about could be happy too. Can he also consider everyone’s feelings and capacity from a broader perspective?

”I truly never expected you would one day use such a method to threaten your father. Yes, your grandparents did make many mistakes. You don’t need to lay all the bloody truths in front of me; I already know. When I demanded the destruction of all the evidence, I knew one day it would resurface. But I never imagined it would be my own son who would unearth it, nor that my son would use such a matter to bargain with me. Maybe in your heart, I’m not a good father or a good husband. Yet, in your mother’s heart, I am the most beloved man in her life. If you truly care for your mother and don’t want her to resent you in the future or for your relationship to turn hostile, don’t threaten me this way. Threatening me brings no meaning; instead, it will damage the real bond between you and your mother.

These years, you know what your mother has done and how much she’s sacrificed. Are you going to let a tiny mistake of yours ruin her entire life?

Do you think this decision of yours is correct? Do you think treating your mother like this is fair after all the effort she has put in over the years? She gave everything for this family, but just because of your one sentence, everything could be lost. All she worked for could be in vain, pretending she never gave anything at all. Can you really bear to see all your mother’s effort amount to nothing, worthless in others’ eyes? You are her son, and no matter where or when, you should consider your mother’s interests and not do things that hurt her. This is a hurt for everyone, and you should think carefully!

Don’t act recklessly and selfishly all the time. Maybe not everything you do is right, but the family’s love for you is genuine. If your mistake causes everyone to lose trust in you, that’s a loss. I hope you don’t follow the path of your grandparents, making mistakes only to regret why you did them, why you chose an irreversible path, and then reflect on the profound errors only when it’s too late.”

”The path I choose in life has nothing to do with you. Remember that. Do you know that every time you compare me to your parents, it makes me uncomfortable because those are your parents, not my life path? My choices are completely different from theirs. I never abandoned my child; I haven’t even married. How could I walk the same path as them? Why don’t you understand what I’m doing this for? You are my father. Don’t you have the basic understanding and trust in your son?

Is everything you do simply to control me, to have me follow your steps without ever thinking that I am my own person and need my own space?

I hope sometimes you can consider my difficulties from my perspective. I don’t want anything else now; I just want my mother to recover. Is that request too much? You can be indifferent to her, but I cannot. You might think she can be tossed aside, but I can’t. She is my mother.

In my heart, no matter what she becomes, she is forever my biological mother. Even if she lives in madness, she is still my mother. I never thought of abandoning her nor changing this outcome. All I can do is stay by her side. If you want her parents to come, let them come back to the country quickly. Rest assured, I won’t say anything to them to protect your image.

Do you think just because you say nothing, I know nothing? Deep down, you care about your face more than Grandpa and Grandma, more than anybody. Your ego is the strongest, enduring ridicule from childhood. I’ve also been mocked since young. I’ve never held hatred towards anyone for it. Every decision one makes is often forced. Nobody wants to abandon their children or wander alone forever, being a restless soul. I hope you can also consider things from my grandparents’ perspective. They have their difficulties. Why should we impose the unwanted outcomes of our lives onto theirs, forcing them to bear this pain?

Maybe you should think about what you should do and say that would hurt my mother so much and leave her in this state. You’ve never regretted your actions nor the harm you’ve caused my mother. All you’ve achieved is fulfilling your deepest desires. You are the one who is selfish, stopping at nothing to achieve your goals.

Ask yourself, is this the outcome you want? Destroying everyone’s happiness with just one selfish decision, making everyone in the family suffer once again.”
