My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1561: Chapter 1355: Dreams of Adventure

”Actually, all the decisions you’ve made weren’t wrong at all. It was my repeated extremism that hurt you, and in the end, I really gained nothing.

In this life, I haven’t wronged anyone. The only people I’ve ever mentioned are you and my father. You just won’t listen to anything I say. For years, I couldn’t forgive any mistake I made. I just want to ask you, haven’t you ever made a mistake? Everyone makes mistakes. To err is human, so how do you expect me to make you believe that all I did was unintentional? Abandoning you, did it not hurt me as much as my classmates? Do you really believe that all the decisions I’ve made, one after another, were just for selfish, personal freedom and happiness?

I think you also should consider things from my perspective. How hard my life has been these past years.

I gave all my joy and happiness to your mother. As long as I saw your mother unhappy, nothing was more real to me than seeing her smile. Those years, I gave everything, including my true heart and emotions, just to get her to smile at me. Do you know how tiring that time was for me? Did I have no ways to keep going? I was scared. I was scared that the last reason I held on was just committing another betrayal, ending in hurt!

But I never gave up because I wanted to give you a complete family. If your mother and I ever had conflict, you wouldn’t have both mom and dad anymore. Could I really feel nothing in the depths of my heart, with your mom and dad both alive in this world, just separated, no longer within my protection range?

The ending I wanted most over and over again was to come back here, return to your side, seeing my son next to me talking to me. Even if it’s just arguing again and again, even if it ultimately leads to nothing, not even the best outcome, I can still be happy. I have no idea what kind of willpower I used to live till today, but being able to live to this day already feels not easy, a miracle.”

”Grandpa, I disagree with what you said. You told us that living to this day is a miracle, an accident. But have you considered? My father’s ability to live to this day is truly a miracle. While he underwent grueling training in the mountains, nothing was available to him, and he never gave up. At that time, he didn’t even have the chance to rest at noon. Have you considered what kind of terrible mentality a child, only a few years old, endures through all those pains?

You ask us to consider things from your point of view, but have you ever considered our perspective? These years, have we truly lived so happily, so easily, so freely? You could enjoy the free life you wanted outside, but what about us? We were proving to you with all our efforts that we’re strong, that we’re right, with all we’ve got in training. What harm did you ultimately give us?

You always believed that nothing you did was wrong. Do you think you’re being wronged for no reason?

You’ve changed. You’re no longer the same as before, so please, stop saying these things, can you?

When you chose to hurt us, it was already destined that there wouldn’t be any good results. Have you thought about it, Grandpa? From your personal viewpoint, maybe your decisions weren’t wrong. But think carefully, your decisions might not harm you, but won’t they hurt others? Isn’t that selfish? You’re living for your own benefits, not for others. Others might be living hard, my father wished you could be happy.

You abandoned your loved ones for your own benefit, letting them get hurt over and over again. Have you never thought of being abandoned one day?

You’re my grandfather, my father’s biological father. Have you considered how tough my father has had it these years?

The only interest in your eyes should not just be your own benefit. You should think more about your family and whether your actions could harm them. People mutually respect, care for, and protect each other. If every decision you make hurts others, why would they offer you their true heart?

Sincerity is mutually given. If you only see your own interest, it only shows that your life has been a failure. You always think of leaving the best for yourself, but you forget that your family also needs companionship. Each time you left all the pain in the depths of your heart, have you thought about it? What was all your past effort really for? Have you thought about what result you wanted from all you gave?

Grandpa, as a younger generation, I feel that I might have gone too far today, but shouldn’t you also reflect on your actions? Isn’t it too much to expect that one day everyone might hate you, considering everything wrong? You’ve abandoned your family, your father, the entire family. You even could ignore the company your father painstakingly built. I really don’t know how to describe you. Everything you did seems so heartless. What were you doing for? Haven’t you thought about how this life should be lived happily? You gave all the hurt to others, leaving happiness for yourself. Do you really think you’ve been truly happy all these years? When you were with Grandma, did she give you the greatest joy? Truthfully, your happiest times should have been when you returned home, we all gathered around the table having a warm, joyful meal together, right?”

Zhang Zhentian never expected that without saying anything, his grandson could see through him so clearly, seeing all of his inner thoughts. He knew when he was happiest and also knew the toughest times of his life.

Truly worthy of being his grandson...
