My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1555: Chapter 1349: Utter Devotion

But I still haven’t told you that I’m really sorry, and I truly love you. Without you in my life, I feel like I can’t breathe. I can’t watch you cry for miles, yet I haven’t mustered up the courage to tell you I love you. Even if one day I part from this body, I will still be utterly devoted to you.

Ran Zhihan hasn’t been involved in matters between her father these days, nor has she paid attention to what her husband is actually doing. She just feels uncomfortable all over, but she is embarrassed to tell her family since they are already overwhelmed. If they have to help her because of her own issues, wouldn’t that make things even more awkward and make them more irritable? She absolutely can’t become their burden; otherwise, she will only make them feel that she brings nothing but trouble.

Zhang Yichen seems to have not noticed anything wrong with his wife either. During this period, he has been caught up in the matters between his father and grandfather. He doesn’t want his father to hurt him and believes his wife, who has always been understanding, caring, and generous, wouldn’t care about these matters. But he forgets that every woman hopes to receive their husband’s care, even if it’s just a simple greeting—that would make a different outcome.

Xia Jing watches her husband and son argue again and again, and she feels conflicted deep inside. Why does everything ultimately evolve into this outcome? Is this really what she wants after going through so much to return to this family? Isn’t it all just to ensure that everyone here lives happily and joyfully? But now, are they truly happy and joyful? Why does it feel like they are suffering more than before? Could it be that everything turned out this way because of her return? If that really is the case, why did she come back here? Why not leave and never set foot in this place again? Would they then become as joyful and happy as they were before?

Zhang Zhentian did not know that these were the thoughts in his wife’s heart. If he had known, he would have persuaded her properly. All of this originally had nothing to do with them. Why blame themselves? Wouldn’t it be better to live happily? Why should they always take others’ feelings into account? If his whole life is lived under other’s shadows, how can he ever find joy? If he lived selfishly without considering anyone, wouldn’t it be great? Forever immerse in his own world with only happiness.

”Zhentian, you need to think carefully about how to explain things to your father. Don’t argue with your child here; arguing won’t solve the problem. Fighting is not the way to resolve matters. If you keep arguing like this, do you think you’ll end up hating each other? You’re father and son, not enemies. Do you really need to turn into enemies for life to feel content?

One of you is my own son, the other my husband. Whom should I side with? I just want to stay here peacefully, without anything disturbing me. Have you ever thought about how much harm your actions have caused those around you? Everything you bring each time is merely things you desire. But what do you really want? Where am I supposed to stand? You think you’re doing everything for the family’s good, but you’ve forgotten the premise you consider good is actually harming them.

Think carefully about how many people and how many times you’ve hurt your family using the excuse of it being for their good. Have you ever reflected on your actions? Why do you always selfishly measure others’ hearts with your own desires? What meaning does that hold for you? In the end, the ones you hurt most are always those who care the most for you. You’ll never grow up if you remain in your world, unable to see how much pain your words cause others. Everyone is made of flesh; no one wishes to stand there indifferent to hurt, and nobody can remain cheerful after being hurt repeatedly.”

Zhang Yichen was left speechless by his mother’s words. Over these years, has he not realized the pain his excuses have caused? He is too aware to say it out loud. He feels that saying it would only make things worse. He doesn’t want others to look down on him. He believes that as long as he can deceive himself, that’s enough. If he is strong enough inside, he wouldn’t become like this.

But today, when he heard his mother’s words, he suddenly realized everything he’s done over the years was wrong. None of it was right. He hurt so many, including his grandfather. His grandfather smiles brightly at him every day, pretending to be okay, but his real thoughts are something only he knows. He thought he understood his grandfather, but in reality, he knew nothing. He never asked what his grandfather truly wanted. Instead, he forced his own ideas onto them, making his grandfather bear all the pain.

Because of him, his grandfather has lost so much. He gave up his own children and family, wanting only for his grandson to live happily and without pressure. But what did all his actions amount to? In the end, he only hurt those who loved him the most. Those who don’t love him wouldn’t be hurt by his actions, but his grandfather endured so much because of him. Despite being hurt, his grandfather never complained and continually took care of him, giving him all the love that originally belonged to Yichen’s father, the love Yichen forcefully took.

I can’t follow others’ plans for me. I know how much you rely on me now, so how can I make you sad? I believe that you are still waiting for me, because you exist, I exist.
