My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1593: Chapter 1387: A Heart as Still as Water

”Grandpa, I know every word you say makes sense, and I also know that everything you say is for my own good. I understand even more that everything you do is for the good of everyone in this family. But that is my own son. How can I bear to watch him train so hard to prove to his grandparents that he is a good child, enduring such hardships? Watching his daily training, my heart as a mother aches terribly. Falling again and again, covered with bruises, yet he must force back tears and get up to continue training. This isn’t just a one-time or two-time thing. In a mother’s eyes, it’s heart-wrenching pain. No one can understand a mother’s love for her child. Paternal love and maternal love are different. A father’s love may be selfless, but a mother’s love is selfish. I must selfishly consider my own child. I can’t just watch my son repeatedly jump into the fire pit. I can’t do it. Every time I see him injured, my heart is in immense pain. I really want to rush out and stop his training, but I can’t do that. There’s a law of the land and family rules. This is the path he chose; indeed, he should bear the consequences by himself. But is it fair for a child to make mistakes?”

”Child, maybe you haven’t understood until now. It’s not about right or wrong. It’s about whether this should be done. Since he’s chosen this path, he must walk it alone. No one can help him, and no one can bear the burden for him. Everyone faces different pains based on the road they choose, and naturally, the results they bear differ. Since he chose this path, what reason do you have to regret?”

I know you love your son. He’s also my family. How could I not care for him? But care is one thing, and some necessary things cannot be violated. What must be done should be done. Don’t you understand?”

Although you see your child training so hard, and your heart is in great pain, have you thought that one day, these trainings will benefit him? He won’t be as helpless as before. When he encounters difficulties, he’ll know what kind of help he needs. This is beneficial for a child’s growth. You can’t choose to take away your son’s right to grow just because of the selfishness of maternal love.

If you think you’re right, then think about how to resolve these issues peacefully. I don’t know what happened between you and your husband, but whatever it is, you should consider the problem from the child’s perspective, right? The child is not young anymore. He knows what’s right and wrong, but if you easily give up on your child, won’t you feel pain, regret, and guilt for a lifetime?”

”Grandpa, to be honest, a classmate from my middle school appeared, and my husband has argued with me more than once because of this. Do you think it’s necessary for me to continue living with him? I can’t endure it. I can’t stand his repeated doubts about me. You know the most important thing between a couple is mutual trust. If there’s no trust, what’s the point of living together?”

I also know that as a man, he has his own dignity. But don’t I, as a woman, have self-respect? Won’t my heart hurt? When he doubts me repeatedly, where does that leave me, and has he considered my feelings? What I really want is simple. For me, a happy life with family is enough, but for him, it seems I’m asking for too much. He never considers what I want and always forces his ideas on me. Do you think this is fair to me? I don’t even receive fair treatment, so why should I continue to work hard in this family and live with him?”

I know many people think I married him for his money because I’m just an ordinary person, but I can say with a clear conscience that I’ve never coveted his wealth. I don’t care about how much money he can give me. What matters to me is being with a man I love for the rest of my life. But I eventually found that no matter how much I loved him initially, we couldn’t last the distance!”

Grandpa, do you understand the feeling of seeking life, not wanting death? Do you understand being insulted repeatedly by your own family? Maybe you haven’t experienced it, but I truly can’t bear such a blow. No matter how much I love him, I can’t endure being repeatedly insulted by words from the man who’s supposed to be my husband, yet be utterly devoted and live with him forever.”

Old Master Zhang doesn’t know what his grandson said that made his granddaughter-in-law so upset. Perhaps this matter isn’t as simple as he thought. But why do they have to fight so fiercely? This could have been resolved simply. Why keep fighting? What’s the point?”

”As a mother, at least she should be able to sacrifice everything for her son!”

”Aren’t all people in the world willing to give up everything for their children? If you can give up all your self-respect for your son, how could your husband not care about you? His doubts stem from caring too much. He lacks a sense of safety, and he fears losing you. Trust between a couple is mutual. You respect him, and he respects your son. Once one party does something wrong, there will be conflicts between them. You should understand this!”

Think carefully. If you still think leaving is the best, Grandpa won’t stop you, but I hope you remember, there’s a five-year-old child at home waiting for you. Can you really bear to leave?”
