My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1564: Chapter 1358: Starlight

”Grandpa, I know you have always wanted to be discharged. Don’t worry, today you will definitely be able to leave the hospital. I will arrange the discharge procedures as soon as possible. Trust me, as long as you return home without any further disturbances, and as long as you keep an open heart without concerning yourself with those unhappy matters, there won’t be any more life-threatening risks for you. I believe that living healthily is the most important thing for your family. They don’t care how much help you can provide; what they care about is whether you can always be by their side. Losing a relative is a painful ordeal for any family, and no one wishes to see their loved ones leave them again and again. I believe your family feels the same way. So, I hope you can live happily. You are a good person, and over the time we’ve talked, it truly brought joy to my heart. You gave me insights that no one else could. It was you who strengthened my resolve to pursue a career in medicine. Perhaps because of this, my life will be different. Everyone’s life is unique, but I still hope that one day, when I return here, Grandpa, you’ll remember who I am and recognize that it was you who gave me so much inspiration. I won’t let you down!”

Old Master Zhang smiled but said nothing. He knew the child standing before him was the kindest soul. She also understood what kind of end he would face. Both of them chose to keep silent about it, but who could really pretend as if nothing ever happened? No one in the world is perfect, but likewise, his heart was still filled with conflicts and pain. He didn’t know what sort of life he should choose, nor did he know whether he should relinquish control over his family.

Recollecting his life from scratch, working hard to build such a large family business, establishing a company with great effort, and providing his son with a life without worries. Yet because he managed too much, it pushed his child further away from him. In his heart, he was unsure of what decision to make that might simplify everything. No one could understand how tough it has truly been.

Perhaps he really should let go completely, relinquishing control over the family so everything could revert to its original state, sparing everyone from further harm. For anyone, some things are truly sorrowful, but some things one must let go of. If he clung to anything forever without change, then what would be the point of living in this world? No one could understand how much bitterness he had endured in his lifetime.

The achievements he has today are the result of working day and night, all for ensuring that his children and grandchildren could live happily, unbullied by anyone. Even though tempted by wealth, he ultimately lost to time. Time aged him, rendered him incapable of controlling all outcomes.

He also didn’t know how his family would ultimately treat him. No one could foresee which path they would ultimately take. Perhaps it was time for a change, breaking free from the endless pursuit of one matter that left his family weary.

Seeing his family get hurt repeatedly because of his actions, how could his heart not ache? But in the end, he could only choose to stay silent because they knew he was their family. No matter what he said or decided, it was equally important in their eyes. To avoid losing him, they repeatedly compromised and endured!

...

Zhang Yichen received a call from the hospital, informing him that his grandfather could be discharged. His heart was filled with joy. This was what his grandpa had always wished for, and now the doctors finally agreed to it. His grandfather must be incredibly happy and excited. Zhang Yichen decided to put aside all his work to pick up his grandfather because, in his heart, nothing was more important than his grandfather. It was his grandfather who gave him a second chance at life, his grandfather who shaped him into the person he was today. Not to be grateful was impossible.

”Grandpa, I’m really happy. Today you can finally be discharged. You’ve always wanted this, and today your wish is coming true. Once we get home, I will accompany you well. I can set everything else aside since work only takes a night. For me as your grandson, your happiness is more important than anything. I can be indifferent to everything else, but not to my own grandfather. It was you who enabled me to achieve the success I have today. You guided me step by step, helping me to study abroad!

I know what you want to say, Grandpa. You don’t need to apologize to me. All the training and hardships I once endured were paths I chose for myself because only then could I become the strongest in life. Only then could I show those who looked down on me and laughed at me that I am the one they should reckon with. They have no right or qualification to ridicule me because my life is more splendid than theirs. I possess things they do not have, and what they lack, I have all of it. Why shouldn’t I be proud of such a life? My entire journey relied on my efforts, every step I took on my own.

Everything I have today wasn’t achieved by shortcuts. I arrived where I am through hard work and sweat. I have no regrets, and all I wish for is your happiness in the future, truly more than anything else. I’m not one to speak sweet words, but I hope you believe in me. If I make a promise, I will certainly follow through, no matter the cost!”

”Silly child, Grandpa will never blame you; you are Grandpa’s greatest pride!”
