My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1570: Chapter 1364: Open

I have never had a perfect holiday, and all I know is that my life has been painful. Every step I take feels like walking on thin ice, yet I keep moving forward, never giving up hope.

I always believe that as long as I can keep going, no matter what lies ahead, even if it makes me feel unbearable pain, I still don’t want to give up easily.

Zhang Zhentian never imagined that his grandson would harbor such deep resentment towards him one day. What did he do wrong?

Deep down, he finds it increasingly difficult to understand how his family perceives him. Time and again, no matter what he does, he never gets a good outcome. Regardless of how many mistakes he made in his life, he still treats them as family in his heart. Why is it that in his father’s eyes, he is not seen as a son, in his son’s eyes, he is not seen as a father, and in his grandson’s eyes, he is not seen as a grandfather? Is his life really such a failure?

All he wants is for his family to forgive him, to let him stay in this home, never to leave again, to have the opportunity to be with them, and to make up for all his past mistakes.

But why do these people seem to forgive him on the surface, yet deep down they don’t truly forgive him, not considering him part of the family? Why choose to treat him this way? If that’s the case, why did they choose to forgive him initially, let him return to the family, only to embarrass him?

”Children, if you really don’t want to forgive us, don’t want us back in this home, then you shouldn’t have pleaded for us to return. Now that you’ve let us return, why treat us this way now? Do you think it’s really okay to treat us like this? Do you think it’s fair to treat us this way? All we want is a healthy, stable family where everyone can live happily together. Yet, you chose to treat us as beggars. What does your sympathy really leave us with?”

Actually, you should know, since we’ve chosen to return to this family, it means we sincerely want to live here, to truly treat it as our own home. We want to be part of the family, removing the barriers between us. But what do you really treat us as by doing this? Doesn’t this deepen the divide between us?

Perhaps in your eyes, none of this matters, not worth mentioning. But in our eyes, it’s fundamentally not a good thing. We care, though you might not. You’re a child, and we’re adults who shouldn’t be petty with you. But the things you say today make us a bit sad. Since choosing to forgive us, why put on this act just to treat us this way? You’re just the kind of person who shows one face outwardly, pretending to generously forgive everyone, but secretly you keep pressuring us. You still want us to leave the family voluntarily, never to return. Is this what you truly want? Do your parents know? Does your great-grandfather know? When they learn the truth, how will they perceive your actions?”

Zhang Zhentian never thought his grandson would be so cunning. This small matter, why could it evolve into this? All he wanted was to stay in this family, but his grandson chooses this moment to say such words to him. Isn’t it clear he’s trying to push him out of here? Unless he leaves voluntarily, his grandson wouldn’t dare to ask to expel them in front of everyone.

Zhang Ni chuckled helplessly.

”My dear grandfather, when did you hear me say I want to kick you out? When did you hear me say I don’t welcome you to stay in this home? When did you hear me being aggressive? What I want is just a fair and honest answer; I just want you to give me an explanation. Why would you rather hide it from everyone and refuse to give me this explanation? Can you tell me what that explanation is? Can you tell me the truth behind this matter?

Even if my father stupidly believes your explanations, I don’t believe it. I don’t believe such simple things exist in this world, where you can act as if everything never happened with just a few words. Do you really think we’re fools?

My father chooses to believe you because, over the years, he knew deep down he’s been longing for his parents’ company too much. But for me, despite not having you by my side for years, my parents have never left me. To me, the company of grandparents is important, but it doesn’t outweigh the love of parents. I have my parents’ love and my great-grandfather’s care. It doesn’t matter much whether you are here or not for me!

Aren’t you aware why I’m asking you these questions? I just don’t want these things to escalate. I just want an answer.

No matter what that answer is, and no matter if it surprises me, I just want an accurate answer. For you, it’s as simple as moving your lips, but I want a truthful answer. Why can’t you fulfill this small wish of mine? Instead, you say I’m aggressive. Am I forcing you?

Can’t you use your brains to think a bit? If I meant to pressure you, I wouldn’t have let you return. I speak my mind as a child without restraint. If I really didn’t want you back, I wouldn’t have pleaded for you outside. My actions were just following the current, letting you feel like everyone owed me a favor. I only wanted to give grandfather a way out, not making things too awkward for him. Everything I did wasn’t for you, I had my own intentions. Don’t flatter yourselves thinking all I did was for you to return; it’s downright ridiculous!”

Xia Jing and Zhang Zhentian suddenly felt this child before them changed from how he was outside earlier. Clearly, in front of his father, he seemed calm and generous, never showing an aggressive demeanor like now. But suddenly, it felt like she had changed into a different person, making them struggle to adapt to such a change.

I’ve always known the path is chosen by oneself. Even if challenged, one must continue forward. As long as persistence remains, there’s no reason for easy surrender; hence I’ve never given up on my life’s path.
