My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1558: Chapter 1352: Happiness

Happiness in life is just so simple, while pain always exists only in that one moment!

”Now you speak to me about fair treatment, don’t you think it’s a bit too late? Do the things you’ve done deserve fair treatment from me? You never thought about how expensive the essentials of life are, or how many people in this world can’t even afford a meal. The world is cruel, and many people exhaust themselves chasing money, only to choose to leave this world because they can’t earn enough. You’ve never experienced such a painful life, so on what grounds do you say such things?

Because I truly cared for you, being with you, I allowed your parents to go abroad, to live a life they never had before. Isn’t that enough? The entire cost of your parents living overseas relies solely on me. Did you ever help me share the burden? Including every penny spent on every single thing you do in this house, when was it not my money? Have you ever gone out and earned money? You’ve stayed at home, peacefully taking care of our son, yet in the end, you chose to betray me. How could you be so cruel in your heart?

The world is indeed fair. Since you have such a good husband and home, there must be some balance for your family as well. But I have never despised you for being from a humble origin; on the contrary, I admire you greatly because your actions make me feel different. Moreover, we have known each other since childhood; for so many years, every word you said to me back then still echoes in my ears from time to time. Do you know how much I long to return to those childhood days? Back then, I would have resolutely brought you home with me, and you wouldn’t have had to endure so much hardship.

Perhaps you think I have never empathized with you, putting myself in your place. But do you know that from the moment we parted in childhood, year after year, I would wake up shocked from dreams? And every time was a nightmare, yet every time you reached out to me, guiding me to a harbor of happiness. Do you know how much I regretted then, regretting leaving the forest alone, without taking you with me? If I had taken you with me then, maybe you wouldn’t have lived such a hard life.

Everything I did, the starting point was merely for our family’s happiness. But in your eyes, it seems so unbearable. I don’t understand what more I need to do or prove to tell you clearly and plainly that I genuinely consider you my wife. I truly want to spend the rest of my life with you. I don’t want to find another woman anymore. The woman I respect in this life is you, and this won’t change. But your actions have left me utterly brokenhearted. I never thought the woman I’ve loved so passionately would eventually hurt me and leave me so humiliated.

Yet, for the sake of the family’s reputation, I have to forcibly suppress this matter. Do you know how much pain it causes me to do this? You are my wife, and yet you put a cuckold’s hat on me, and I can’t even speak of my suffering. I can only silently swallow all the tears inside. Have you considered my feelings? If it were another woman, I wouldn’t care so much. But you are my wife; how could you bear to do this, keep this from me, let me be in the dark, let me foolishly smile at you, and care for you with all I have? Do you think I’m stupid, stupid enough to be easily manipulated by you?”

Zhang Yichen took a step forward with every word, stepping closer, until his wife was pressed against the wall, with nowhere to retreat.

”I’ve never considered you stupid. On the contrary, I think you have a great sense of economics, so I never dared to scheme in front of you. The same goes for wanting to live simply in front of you; I don’t want to live such a complicated life. There are not many years in a person’s life, so why live in such a scheming manner, making everyone uneasy every day?

I’m just an ordinary woman. I need the understanding of my husband, his trust, and his love. Over the years, you’ve indeed loved me, but did you understand me? Did you trust me? Ultimately, you’ve never trusted me, nor have you ever understood me. You never knew why I did what I did. What you wanted was for everything I did to be for your happiness, so you would graciously love me, right?

I remember every word you said to me, hoping one day I’d warm your heart, although you sincerely loved me then. But later, I realized my actions hurt you and turned you cold. However, I believe sincerity conquers all, and no hurdle is insurmountable. As long as I sincerely stay with you, one day you’ll see my worth and open your heart to me again. By then, I would definitely share all my heart’s secrets with you, without reservation. But ultimately, did you give me that chance?”

”Your words sound nice. Opening one’s heart takes time, right? Does it need a few more years? As long as you’re willing to open your heart to me, it can happen anytime. It seems you have many secrets unknown to me. How many things have you hidden from me? Can you honestly tell me and stop treating me like a fool, always kept in the dark? It makes me look bad, feeling like my wife has been using me all along. I don’t know what you’ve kept from me. Please don’t sweet-talk me just to make me happy. Prove with your actions that you genuinely see me as your husband and not just say so. Can you do that?

Everyone can say nice words, but doing something is much more difficult, let alone proving such a thing to one’s husband. You did nothing wrong. If you want me to trust you, please show me with your actions that everything you’ve done has nothing to do with you, and you were unaware of everything that happened. If you can prove that, I swear I will let you live well for the rest of your life and never doubt you again!”

When I looked back, tears already filled my eyes. When love changes, what do I have left?
