My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1543: Chapter 1337: The Unfinished Rain

The fireworks of love that haven’t been set off yet—I carry the loneliness of one person, holding an umbrella, passing through the silent night. My sorrow has soaked through my collar, not to mention broken; we just treat all this as the plum rains passing by.

The raindrops fall and retreat down the street, but the handwritten ”Take Care” still lingers. That year, your silhouette shone, and I walked away.

”You still haven’t answered me. Has your heart never once been moved by me? Have you truly never thought that one day we might actually be together? All these thoughts, have you really never had them, from the beginning until now?”

”I must say, Chen Gang, I did have those thoughts once. Back then, I also hoped that one day I could be with you. But as soon as that thought arose, I extinguished it myself because I knew, a woman as humble as I, could never attain the best love for myself. But later, I didn’t expect to meet him, nor did I expect that after being apart for so long, we would meet again. All these years, he has been searching for me, and the moment he found me, I realized the spring of my love was coming. And the spring of my love has nothing to do with you. I don’t want to jeopardize my lifelong happiness because of you.

Stop struggling unnecessarily, let go, give me a way to live my own happy life. I know the result I’m about to face will be difficult, but I regret nothing!”

”So you’re saying that spending this night with me, you have no regrets? Doesn’t that mean there’s still a part of you that cares for me, but you just don’t know how to express it? Are you just confined by your pride, unsure of what to do?”

”You’re too foolish, too naïve. Do you really think my heart loves you? Do you really think we are so suited for each other? You’ve never considered what I want; you’re so selfish and self-centered. Even if I were with you, I wouldn’t be happy. I’d rather take the risk and gamble on my life!

Being with you that day was my biggest mistake. I shouldn’t have believed your lies and drank with you. I shouldn’t have ignored advice to meet you. If I had had more self-control, none of this would have happened, and I wouldn’t have to worry so much about the future. Don’t come looking for me again; let’s completely cut off all contact. It’s the best result for both of us, don’t make it harder.”

”Zhihan, after everything I’ve said, don’t you understand how I feel? I love you so deeply, but you? Why do you treat me this way? Can’t you give me just one chance? You’ve been divorced for years and still won’t give me a chance. Do you genuinely hate me that much in your heart? What I want is the same as what you want. You want a plain and simple life, I only want to be with you. Is that such a mistake? If it is, I’m willing to accept punishment from the heavens. I can live my life without a son, I can never marry, but I can’t lose you!

Promise me, okay? Whenever I have time in the future, will you come see me? If you don’t promise me this, I won’t bother you again for the rest of my life. As long as you agree to this small condition, I’ll agree to whatever outcome you want!”

Ran Zhihan looked at Chen Gang in such a pitiful state. She’s too foolish, too naïve, he thought, but ultimately rejected him. Yet, she didn’t expect that this mistake would turn out to be her biggest error in life. If she agreed to Chen Gang, things would become impossible to handle.

”I believe there’s no need for us to see each other anymore. This is not a good thing for you, and for me, it will only make my marriage worse. I don’t know what your intentions are, but I want you to understand—since I decided to marry my husband, I will not do anything to hurt him. Let’s pretend we never had this conversation. Once I go back, I don’t know how to face him, how to explain my absence overnight. Maybe he already knows everything, but I still have to hide the truth from him. You know, every time I lie to him, my heart is so uneasy. I’m afraid that in a moment of carelessness, I’ll reveal the truth in my sleep. I’m afraid he’ll easily abandon me, choose not to believe me, doubt me. All I want is his wholehearted trust, to live my life with him sincerely. Maybe because of your appearance, the ending that could have developed peacefully will change drastically. But I don’t blame you, because your presence is unrelated to me. Don’t say you love me anymore, and don’t look for me again, or we will never meet again!”

Before Chen Gang could speak, as he prepared to turn and leave, Chen Gang suddenly rushed over from behind, embracing her tightly while muttering incessantly.

”Zhihan, don’t leave, don’t just abandon me like this. I just really want to hold you, every night, to have you fall asleep in my arms. Is that truly such an impossible desire?”

Ran Zhihan turned and slapped Chen Gang hard. She never expected the man in front of her to make such an unreasonable request. She’s a married woman; how could he ask such an inappropriate thing of her? Does he really see her as someone so unclean?

”This is the end. I hope you won’t say such things again, stop making each other look bad. If this continues, I really can’t guarantee that I won’t have murderous intentions towards you!

A person’s patience has limits, and mine is you not crossing my line time and time again. All I want is to return and properly face my husband, give him a reasonable explanation. If he can forgive me, I’ll wholeheartedly be devoted to living with him. If you dare to meddle in my affairs again, then don’t blame me for making you disappear from this world completely!

Whether you love me or what your intentions are, we are not right for each other. Don’t struggle needlessly anymore, give me a way to live, just consider it a request. Don’t let the marriage I worked so hard for be destroyed just like that, okay?”

Ran Zhihan realized that no matter what she did, it was wrong. All he wanted was a stable life, why is it so difficult? Everything she wanted, why is everyone unwilling to give him? Why must he suffer all these hardships?

Actually, I am waiting for you, waiting for the rain to finish, waiting for the whole city to be washed away by the rain. I also understand, I am too deep into the role—the flowing seasons are forever just memories.
